Hi Carlynne, What you have is the expected behavior when the URL is referenced through the Pop-up Contents. You will need to add the image in the Pop-up Media part of the Pop-up Properties. Click the Add dropdown, choose Image and then add the field name that holds the URL in the URL box by clicking on the '+' next to the URL box and selecting it. That should get your image to show up in the pop-up. See the attached screenshot. You'll probably also want to remove the URL field that displays More Info from the list of fields in the Pop-up Contents. Heath

Are you adding images by displaying a URL? If that's the case, put the image URLs in a field in your feature/map service and use that field as your Image URL when configuring your popups. Or, if you're creating your feature service from a geodatabase feature class, you can enable attachments on your geodatabase feature class and then add images to each feature as attachments. The limitation with attachments, though, is that the image does not show up in the popup, only the link to the image shows up in the popup.

Out of curiosity, are the maps that the public is able to access being accessed through a URL like http://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webmap=927b5daaa7f4434db4b312364489544d or http://<your organization>.maps.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webmap=927b5daaa7f4434db4b312364489544d I've also noticed that you cannot add www. to the beginning of your organization's web address. That causes issues. i.e. wsdot.maps.arcgis.com/home works, but www.wsdot.maps.arcgis.com/home does not. Heath

Joe, NIM094009 is the bug number associated with that bug. You can view some details about the bug by going to www.support.esri.com and searching for that bug number. It looks like the bug has not been fixed yet. Heath

And it is true that in order for a web application to be viewable publicly, all of the services and the web map used in the app also must be shared with the public. But you should be prompted to correct that when you try to make an application public that is accessing private data.

From what I understand, in order to allow your publicly available items to be viewable by anybody without a login, you MUST "Allow Anonymous Access to Your Organization". Checking that box only allows people to view the maps, apps and data that you have made publicly available. They aren't granted any other access than viewing permissions to the publicly available data. Our organization (WSDOT) is very protective of our sensitive data, yet we still have checked the box for "Allow anonymous access to your organization". It's not what it sounds like. 🙂

By the way, now there are ArcToolbox tools (Data Management -> Tile Cache) that allow you to create a tile cache on your desktop. It makes publishing tiles much simpler (although it takes quite a bit of processing power).

I had reported this as a bug last year. Bug NIM088399. It hasn't been fixed. I noticed that you can register the kml feed as an item and every time you open the item it is refreshed. But when it is added to a web map, it does not refresh - in fact, layers within the kml feed will turn off as they try to refresh. That's all I know. The only solution that I know of is to create a map service from the database that the kml is accessing. Kinda stinks! Heath

While it's true that your cache size won't be that large if your area of interest is rather small, tile generation at the largest scales can still be quite heavy. That is where the cost of tile generation and storage can really get you. However, credit consumption for tile storage isn't nearly as expensive as the cost for tile generation. My recommendation would be to generate your tile cache on a local machine and then upload a tile package to ArcGIS Online. This will bypass the tile generation credit costs and also allows you to only cache tiles for the areas where you have data, so that you aren't generating a bunch of blank tiles. However, I haven't figured out yet how to add a generic "blank" tile to the ArcGIS Online tile cache to be used where there is no exisiting tile. So when the tiled service is used in an application, the javaScript console returns 404 errors for each missing tile. It doesn't affect the end user, but I am not sure whether it slows performance of the application at all. That being said, I'm not sure how to access the number of tiles on an ArcGIS Server tiled service.

Paul, On the Item Description page of your tiled service, near the bottom of the Properties, there is Tiles information. If you click "Manage Tiles" it will show you how many tiles have been created (including at each scale level). Heath

I'm not sure why this is, but if you remove the final "/" in your REST URL, you will not be prompted for a login. http://tiles.arcgis.com/tiles/lGOekm0RsNxYnT3j/arcgis/rest/services instead of http://tiles.arcgis.com/tiles/lGOekm0RsNxYnT3j/arcgis/rest/services/ Hopefully somebody else will chime in as to why this occurs. If you are using ArcGIS 10.1 or 10.2, you can publish directly to your organization via File->Share As and publish a service. But in order to see your ArcGIS Online Organization as a viable location to share to, you must first sign in to ArcGIS Online via File->Sign In. If you are not already signed in to ArcGIS Online when you try to share, you will only see registered ArcGIS Servers.

I've used the ArcGIS Online API to access our organization's user information. Some of our users have a storage quota of 100GB, while others only have a storage quota of 2GB. Does anybody know why this is or how we can change the storage quota of users? It is not tied to the user type and appears to be randomly assigned.
