@OwenGeo interesting to follow this thread. I'm in a similar situation with this very map-centric classic story maps map series Waikato Regional Hazards Portal (arcgis.com) that I need to update to the new ArcGIS StoryMaps so it looks and works as close as possible to the original. Your tips above may prove helpful but one key feature I need from classic story maps and am not sure is available in ArcGIS StoryMaps is the "Synchronize map locations" function. Is such a function available in an ArcGIS StoryMap with a tabbed series navigation design? Any guidance or tips appreciated. Cheers Derek

Problem: There appears to be no function that will prevent one user from starting to edit a record in a feature layer if it is already being edited by another user. This risks wasting users time or overwriting or losing data. Use case: e.g. 1. An operator calls a welfare registrant to update some information in a Survey123 web form. After the call they continue to work on the form. Whilst they are still working on the form another operator from another call centre calls the same welfare registrant and repeats the process as they are unaware that anyone is already working on the record. e.g. 2. Several volunteers from all over a country (or even the world) are remotely supporting an emergency operation by helping to update the status of roads using the same hosted feature layer and an editor widget in web appbuilder. The volunteers are privy to the same intelligence telling them which roads are impacted. One volunteer opens a road link and starts editing the impact status along with some other attributes and changes. At the same time another volunteer somewhere else coincidentally does the same. It appears the first volunteer to hit save will have their edits saved while the second volunteer will have wasted their time filling out the form. Messaging around parallel editing is obscure when this happens leaving the users confused. Work-arounds: Versioning using Enterprise Portal appears to be an option but the reconciliation process is too complicated and lengthy for emergency management professionals to use in the middle of a time-critical emergency. Versioning does not appear to be available in ArcGIS Online? Solution: An optional function (can be activated or not) in all ArcGIS Products (desktop, enterprise and online) and all products within (e.g. Survey123, Collector, Field Maps, Web AppBuilder, Map Viewer, Experience Builder) that will immediately generate a warning message for a user if they open a record for editing but it is already being edited by another user. The message would say something like: "This record is currently being edited by arcgisonline_username. Do you wish to continue?" followed by a "Yes" and "No" button. Note this is not about preventing multiple users from editing the same feature layer at the same time. Just the same record.

Does anyone know if there is a tool that can generate a report of what webmaps and apps use a selected layer/service? Something that works both for enterprise portal and ArcGIS Online? I have tried qonda, ArcGIS Online Assistant, and Admin Tools for ArcGIS Online to no avail. Surely there must be something out there?

In Operations Dashboard (Enterprise Portal 10.7.1) the Category Selector item is great for easily filtering all the content across all the items in the dashboard by whatever category value a user selects. However, when using categories from Grouped Values there does not appear to be a way to set a default value for the dropdown. Use case is I have a dashboard set up as a template but now want to use that to make a copy for each of a number of districts such that the data shown for each district defaults to their district when they open the dashboard, but then they can still use the category selector to explore other district's data if they need. We tried using the None Option and inserting the Label of a council for the default value but this does not work. It would be great if this functionality could be enabled. Simply a way of selecting one of the values in your category selector dropdown as the default value. Please vote up.

I am still finding this Reset button issue persists in AGOL as at Dec 2020 also. Wondering if it relates this this bug that in theory was fixed back in August?

@IsmaelChivite This looks just like the tool I need but when following your methods using Enterprise Portal 10.7.1 the form interface in the dashboard just keeps constantly refreshing without any values showing despite having the refresh interval for the layer set to 5 minutes in the webmap. Any ideas what could be going wrong? The survey and feature layer is not public and I wonder if this a prerequisite for embedded content given this hint in the survey's collaborate page on https://survey123.arcgis.com/

Thanks @JamesTedrick. Unfortunately I have to use Enterprise and it looks like Experience Builder is not available in Enterprise yet. Even if it was I could not find an edit widget in Experience Builder and the Survey widget appears to only allow the collection of data, not the editing of existing records. So still no silver bullet for editing other's records using a nice clean S123 form like interface from either desktop or mobile device. I'd love to hear if anyone has any other ideas?

My question relates to this post and thread in 2019: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-survey123-blog/survey123-tricks-of-the-trade-editing-records-in-a-web-form/ba-p/895827 I'd really like to use the the OOTB S123 Data UI for updating records because it is so simple and it is automatically generated when you create a survey - no config required at all - both important things in emergency management when time is of the essence and non-GIS users may need to manage the data. However, I'm hindered from adopting the Data UI by the fact that a user can not edit another user's record in this UI (except if you are the survey owner): This, I think, relates to this setting in the Collaborate UI of the survey that can not be changed: This is a real frustration for us as a common use case we have is that we have field teams submitting initial survey data using one account (i.e. doing a triage) but then we have desktop or other field based teams who need to review and update the data using other accounts (i.e. full assessments), preferably using a nice clean and quick OOTB S123 form UI such as provided by the Data UI. I'm aware of options using Web AppBuilder but not ideal for the field and not as clean as the S123 Data UI. I'm aware of options using the Inbox using S123 Connect but trying to find a solution that does not require the users to have to install software on their devices. A browser based UI would be ideal. Does anyone know if there is anything planned in the roadmap for S123 that will allow the survey owner to turn on/off a setting that may allow accounts under a selected Group or even maybe the whole ArcGIS Org to edit other's records in the OOTB S123 Data UI? Do I need to log this as an Idea? Is the much touted Field Maps solution a better alternative? Thanks Derek

I've also had this problem in ArcGIS Online. Default webmap extent is just for part of New Zealand but in the dashboard when I open it or select/unselect items in the dashboard the map extent keeps reverting to a huge part of the South Pacific. Default Extent and Bookmarks is checked on in the Dashboard map settings. I suspect there must be a default extent for one of the contextual feature layers I am using in the webmap that is set for a very large area and while the webmap honours the default extent I set up the dashboard will default to the largest extent of any layers used in the webmap? Have not had this issue with other dashboards before. Just this one.

Problem: Data is often first loaded in to webmap with many possible unlisted values missing from the database. This is especially the case for fields with domains where certain values may not yet have been selected from the domain or when category values are populated based on dynamic calculations and change all the time. In ArcGIS Online webmaps when a user chooses to symbolise by category only existing values at that time will be symbolised. There is no "Add unlisted values > Add new values" option like in ArcGIS Pro such that the user can set up the symbology for all possible values. Use case: In flood management we have categories for flood levels which are autopopulated by a script based on telemetered data, for simplicity lets say Low, Medium, High, Extreme. At the moment all the river level stations are low but I need to build the webmap now. When I go to set up the symbology I can not find any way to add the Medium, High and Extreme values because there are none currently in the database. I know once these other values occur I could do this but I do not want to have to wait for and be setting up symbology for an extreme flood in the middle of an extreme flood. Work-arounds: 1.) Add some fake test data - this is laborious and difficult if the layer is a map image and if all the data is auto generated. Fake records have to be deleted again. 2.) Load the webmap in to ArcGIS Pro and edit the symbology using the "Add unlisted values > Add new values" option and the save the webmap - Again this is laborious and have found this only works for feature layers, it does not appear to work for map image layers. Solution: From a user perspective it would be so much quicker and easier if there was an "Add unlisted values > Add new values" option, just like in ArcGIS Pro, when configuring symbology in an ArcGIS Online webmap. Don't know if this easy or hard to do but I'd imagine a lot of users out there would love to see it.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get the OBJECTID field to show in the Smart Editor widget attributes? I know OBJECTID is non-editable by design so wonder if there may be some logic that prevents this field from showing in the Smart Editor widget by design. However, it would help my users if I could get this field to show read-only. I've configured the pop-up in the webmap and the layer visualisation so that OBJECTID shows in the pop-up but still nothing in the Smart Editor. Portal 10.7.1. Pop-up *Registration ID is OBJECTID Smart Editor

We too have had this issue with Portal 10.7.1. We created a Survey using Survey123 webform and created fieldworker and stakeholder views. From the Survey123.arcgis.com interface the stakeholder view can only be non-editable by default. That's OK, that is what we want. However, we built some dashboards using the stakeholder view and then noticed that when we edited data in the master feature layer or fieldworker view using a webapp, rather than sync, the stakeholder view would instead add a duplicate record with those edits and the original record was unchanged. In the stakeholder view there was also a kind of "ghost geometry" for any points that were moved. The point was in the correct location but there was some kind of legacy geometry still being picked up for the original location... Thanks to DSI Province Nord for the post above I followed those instructions and found I just needed to turn this setting on for the stakeholder view and when I refreshed everything was fixed. All the duplicate records and ghost geometries had gone. However, I'm convinced this is a bug as stakeholder views should sync by default rather than create duplicate records and ghost geometry. I'll follow up with ESRI.

Thanks Dan Allen, This is a weird one. I had the same issue in that the original service was published in the process of creating a S123 form using S123 Connect and the resulting hosted feature layer only had a single symbol by default. Once I changed that symbol to attribute driven in the webmap I wanted to use the Smart Editor widget in the app using that webmap just showed an empty circle symbol instead of the attribute driven symbols I wanted. While I was skeptical of your solution I tried it and, waddaya know? It works! Cheers!

Similar to this issue I have found the Info Summary Widget Feature Count appears not to automatically refresh if you have any arcade expressions configured in the attribute pop-up of the underlying web map. Can anyone else verify this is an issue?

I have built a survey using S123 Connect and published it. It looks and works fine as a web app and on the windows field app on my PC but on my iPhone the field app GeoPoint component (‘INCIDENT LOCATION’ below) will not show the map interface. It looks like the screen grab on the left below when loading and then the screen grab on the right once my location has been found. There is no little map icon and no way to activate the map to change or refine my location. Strangely if I submit the survey anyway then the map does appear for the GeoPoint component for the next survey I want to submit. It was just the first field app survey of a brand new form that this happened for. My suspicions are that the GeoPoint map interface will not show on devices with screens below a certain size (my iPhone is a 5S) but I do not have a larger mobile phone to test this and I did a search online about this possible limitation but could not find anything. Further, this does not explain why the map interface is now showing. I do not think I have applied a field or setting type in the Connect xlsform applied that would cause this but am open to suggestions. Has anyone else experience behaviour like this before and figured out why? - S123 Connect v3.5.166 - S123 Field app v3.7.56 - iPhone 5S iOS 12.4.1
