Please provide more specific detail about the functionality that you would like to see in ArcGIS Pro animations. Unfortunately a general statement asking to compare functionality to another software and just make it like that is less actionable than clearly stating specific functionality that would be helpful to you. For example, the part in the description about "uploading the package to AGOL would be even nicer without having to save out a video file separately" is an easily understandable, specific idea. I'd also suggest keeping ideas distinct. When 2 or more distinct functionalities are listed in a single idea, how do we know what the community is voting for? Are people up voting the idea because they want to see one thing from a long list? It is impossible to know, and in the end, makes the idea less actionable. I hope that this guidance is helpful. We want to be able to understand customers' needs and we want those needs to be actionable. Thank you!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. This behavior has already been logged as ENH-000098440: Allow Vector Tiles to carry over label placement properties when created in ArcGIS Pro. You can find that enhancement request on the support site here: ENH-000098440: Allow Vector Tiles to carry over label placement pro.. and follow it by clicking the Subscribe button. I would also recommend visiting Fix Labeling Limitations for Vector Tiles and up vote that Idea if you haven't done so already!

Thank you for the feedback Grant Herbert. Please go to Open ArcGIS Pro without having to Save and up vote that Idea if you haven't done so already. It is always best if you can include your Comments about use case/user story along with your up vote. As for the issue with creating a local default, I wanted to make sure that you were aware that you can set up Pro to not create a new file gdb with every project: Change project settings—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop You could point your default to a file gdb on a network share. As the documentation states, "Enterprise geodatabases can't be used as a project's default geodatabase at this time."

Richard Hudson I'm not sure I really understand what the Idea is asking for. Do vertical transformations address the issue? Geographic datum transformations—Properties of maps | ArcGIS Desktop Notice that this involves installing the Coordinate System Data for these versions of the software, in order to utilize the GeoCON utility created by the NGA to perform vertical datum transformations. Esri did not reinvent the wheel here – we just built GeoCON into the Projection Engine to make SOME vertical transformations available. Additional functionality from GeoCON will be added to future releases but the user has to install the Coordinate System Data. Check out https://community.esri.com/ideas/4459. The entire symbology dialog has been redesigned in ArcGIS Pro, answering the requirements of Richard and Guy above. Also, Madgwick, in Pro you can now select multiple symbols and move them with the arrows. There is drag and drop in the Symbology pane currently, and it looks like some improvements will likely be coming to that functionality as well in future releases of Pro.

The content of this blog is now out of date. Since its writing, the ArcGIS Pro help has been updated and should be used as the official resource. Start here: Named User licensing in ArcGIS Online—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation I’m the Customer Advocacy Lead for Desktop products and part of what I do is keep an eye on trends in the cases that are logged with technical support. Since the first release of ArcGIS Pro a couple of years ago, we have noticed that a big chunk of Pro-related questions boil down to getting Named User licensing set up. This makes sense, as this licensing model is fundamentally different than how single-use or concurrent-use licenses function. As there has been greater adoption of ArcGIS Pro, we’ve seen that the rate of licensing and setup related calls has slowly decreased. But we want to do better at reaching out to help customers who haven’t yet set up their Pro licensing be successful the first time. Setting up your ArcGIS Pro license is as easy as following three simple steps. Step 1: Activate Your ArcGIS Online Organization The first step in making sure that you and others in your organization can work with ArcGIS Pro is to activate your ArcGIS Online organization account. If you’ve already activated your account, go to Step 2. If you haven’t activated or just aren’t sure, you can go to arcgis.com and sign in with what you think might be your username. If you sign in to arcgis.com and the URL includes your organization name (it will look like www.<orgname>.maps.arcgis.com/home/index.html) then you’ve confirmed your username is linked with an organization account. Go to Step 2. If you sign in to arcgis.com and the page shows you as signed in but the URL still says www.arcgis.com/home/index.html, you’re using a public account and you won’t be able to use this to license Pro. You need to log in using the Named User account associated with your ArcGIS Pro license. If you’ve found that you have not activated your ArcGIS Online organization, and you can’t find the activation email that was sent to you, go to the Need your ArcGIS Online activation code? section towards the bottom of this landing page. It looks like this: Once the organization is activated and set up, go to step 2. Step 2: Add Members to Your Organization If you’re the one who activated the organization account, you will automatically be an Administrator and will be able to invite and add members and assign ArcGIS Pro licenses. When signed in, go to the My Organization tab and verify your Role. Here we see that I am an Administrator. If you only want to license yourself to use ArcGIS Pro, go to step 3. If you have other users who will be using ArcGIS Pro, they will first need a username that is part of your organization. From the My Organization tab, invite users to your organization by clicking Invite Members. The Add or Invite Members wizard gives you three options. The quickest way to go is to choose ‘Add members without sending invitations’. With this option, you set up the username and password for each member. You must inform the member of their username and password. More details about the other ways of adding members to the organization can be found in the Invite and Add Members documentation. ArcGIS Pro requires that members have a Level 2 license. Step 3: Assign ArcGIS Pro Licenses Once you, and optionally others, have a username that is part of the ArcGIS Online organization associated with your ArcGIS Pro licenses, you can then assign the licenses to users. From the My Organization tab, click Manage Licenses. Only organization Administrators can manage licenses. For others, the Manage Licenses button is not visible. ArcGIS Pro licenses can be managed from this page. You can assign licenses individually by clicking “Configure licenses” next to the user’s name or collectively by clicking on the member names to add them to the Selected Members list and then clicking the Configure button. Then you can assign ArcGIS Pro at the Basic, Standard, or Advanced license level and assign ArcGIS Pro Extensions. After you’ve assigned ArcGIS Pro licenses for you and other users in your organization, those users will be able to sign in to ArcGIS Pro on any machine that has an internet connection and Pro installed. It’s worth noting that this licensing model extends beyond ArcGIS Pro, and licenses for other Esri premium apps such as Navigator for ArcGIS, AppStudio for ArcGIS Standard, Drone2Map for ArcGIS, Esri Business Analyst web app, Esri Community Analyst, GeoPlanner for ArcGIS, and other apps sold through ArcGIS Marketplace that use a per-member license type can be managed through this page. Beyond the Named User model discussed here, it is also possible to license ArcGIS Pro using a Named User with Portal for ArcGIS or using single-use or concurrent-use licenses. Configure ArcGIS Pro Licenses with Portal for ArcGIS How to: Get started with ArcGIS Pro using concurrent and single-use licenses As always, Esri Technical Support is awesome, and they’ll happily help you set up your ArcGIS Pro licensing.

Brian Rizzo Joshua's question about what format you're exporting to is important. IMHO, the most important question hasn't been asked: is this a 1:1 or 1:M join? If 1:1, blows my theory. But if 1:M, since you're joining to a file gdb feature class, you will still only see the 900,000 records in the attribute table, but depending on the number of tabular records that are joined with each feature, you could be generating a table that is millions (perhaps many many millions) of records. These ARE stored in the file gdb even though you can't see them. If you export to a shapefile, each record would actually show up as an output feature (but depending on the number of records, you might exceed the limitation of shapefile storage and crash or freeze). Anyway, let us know about the cardinality of the join and even send some data if you want to dig further. About joining and relating tables—Help | ArcGIS Desktop describes what I'm talking about "However, it is possible to create a join under these circumstances. When you create a join in such a case, there are differences between how tools and other layer-specific settings work depending on the data source. If you are using geodatabase data to create the join, all matching records are returned. If you are using nondatabase data, like shapefiles or dBASE tables, to create the join, only the first matching record is returned. This means that if you have created a 1:M or M:M join with geodatabase data and you generate a report, you see multiple records in the report, one for each corresponding match. The multiple matches are also seen when using a join field while symbolizing a joined layer, labeling, identifying features, generating a graph, and using either the Find or Hyperlink tool. If you are using the joined layer as input to a geoprocessing tool or in an export operation, the multiple matching records are used. Caution: In all cases of 1:M joins, only the first matching record is joined and displayed in the layer's attribute table." Maybe this helps?

Ted, what do the extents look like for the items where the preview displays the features? I have two examples here. The first is a feature layer with a specific extent for the service: And the example from a solutions template where the service's extent does cover the entire world, and the service layers are empty, acting as templates for users to enter data: Are you working with a service that has a number of sublayers, with each sublayer having a different extent? What happens if you double-click the service to reveal each layer? Clicking on each layer should preview it. Let me know if that works, and/or if the usability in terms of clicks and accessing the service's layers could be better.
