When a user taps the "forward pointing" arrow on a mini-popup: They are presented with a more detailed popup: I suggest that the down arrow button on the right hand side, and the X button on the left hand side of the detailed popup be removed. I suggest these be replaced by a single button on the left hand side that is a "backward pointing" arrow in the same style as the "forward pointing" arrow that the user tapped to open the detailed popup. The rationale behind this is two-fold: The down arrow does not clearly indicate what will happen when tapped. Some people may even mistake it for a "download" button, as one of our users has already. The X button to close the detailed popup may be tapped with the intention of returning to the mini-popup, but instead it closes the popup entirely. This is problematic on maps with many features, as the user may not be able to identify the same feature again without having to conduct an entirely new search.

Hi Kelly, Would you like another couple to assist your investigations? We have two that have this issue, they are both public, and using the Basic Viewer Template: http://wcc.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=5124e3e71a634668a6bc29b3972a7ea8 http://wcc.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=648d19986c0c4b24b6e9fccb64c6f59c Cheers

Hi Carlynne "Lyndy" Worsham I am also having this issue on several of my Basic Viewer template apps. Someone suggested that it might be because I had used custom CSS. Are you using the Basic Template? And if so, have you applied custom CSS?

Hi Kelly - I thought you might be interested in one of our live examples of my template adjustments. You can see my Play Area Finder here. I have also used it on a Basketball Finder app, and am planning to apply it out to another couple of apps. And here is our website, which I used as a design guide. There are still other changes that I would like to implement, but it is all dependent on finding the time to delve back into it.

Hi Scott - yes, most of our work is done offline. The 3G network in our city is inconsistent, and for the most part I download the projects to the device. So the user just gets handed the device without really needing to know the distinction between online or offline data collection. But I suspect that as I deploy more projects, particularly to some of our offsite staff, that I will need to address this. The document is a work in progress, and I will be sure to post any updates.

I have found that while Collector is generally quite user friendly and easy to use, there are still some users that struggle with some aspects of the data collection process. I have written a quick generic guide that outlines the data collection process from opening the app and collecting some data, to syncing. I have included lots of screenshots to illustrate each step. I am hoping that this will reduce user frustration, and also reduce my time spent training users, and processing data collection errors. Currently I have only included instruction on collecting point data. Some things that I plan to add in the future are: Instruction on collecting line and polygon data. Although I do not have many users collecting this sort of data yet, so it is not a priority at this stage. Some detail on adjusting the required GPS accuracy. Some detail on turning layers on and off. Feel free to download it and use it. You may want to edit it and use it as a base for your own guide. I have attached .docx and .pdf files. If you do use it I would be interested to hear about it.

Hi there. I am having a few issues with URL parameters while using the Basic Template. I am using a suburb polygon layer in the map, which I do not want to be visible, and have set the symbology to be transparent, and have also disabled the pop-up. I have set up a URL parameter, based on the suburb object ID field. When I use a URL parameter to navigate to the map it highlights the polygon, but there are two issues I have with the way it displays. It applies an orange, transparent symbology to the polygon. I was hoping that it would just highlight the boundary of the polygon, and leave the fill transparent as specified. This is not ideal as the colour obscures the data and basemap. Sometimes, depending on how I have my browser window sized, it will not include the entire polygon within the extent. Small portions of the polygon are not visible without scrolling out to a larger scale. It was my understanding that the entire feature would be contained within the extent. The application is hosted in our AGOL account servers, so I only have access to the basic template configuration. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Kelly - I have a screenshot to share with you. I did try to share the application but my organisation won't allow it. Perhaps when we launch it with some of our live maps I can send you a link. It is not a huge departure from the basic template, but it has taken on enough of the look of our organisation's website that I am quite happy with it. I managed to work through how to change colours, shapes and fonts easily enough, but struggled when it came to positioning and responsiveness for mobile/tablets. I taught myself CSS from some entry level courses on Lynda.com, and I think I will continue with some of the more in depth courses when I have the time. Overall I am very happy with the added functionality of custom CSS. Especially due to the fact that I do not have server space available to me in our organisation, so all customisation is limited to what is provided in the app builders.
