I figured this out. The image needs to be square. I used GIMP to edit my icons, adding extra transparent canvas space around the image to make the image perfectly square. It seems a weird thing to go from being able to use non-square images to having to use square. No big deal though I guess, as long as you know what to do.

Prior to the latest update of AGOL I had been adding custom hosted symbols to some of my maps, and had been getting good results. Symbols would display nicely at their native resolution. But since the update I have not had the same experience. Now when I add a custom symbol it gets distorted, with ugly results. It does not seem to affect custom symbols that were already added to the map pre-update. In the image below the playground and toilet icons are custom symbols that I added pre-update, and are displaying as they should. But the cafe icon has been added post-update, and should be the exact same size as the other icons, but it appears to be squashed top to bottom. I am now in a position where I really need to redo all previous icons to make them consistent, but this means that they will all be squashed. This is not ideal as the crispness of the icons is lost when the shape is changed. Has anyone else encountered this? Does anyone have any suggestions?

I would be keen to see documentation, too. I am planning to use this feature and am ready to start preparing my dataset. I could start this immediately, while I wait for the iOS version to update.

The REST endpoint reflects the unusual incorrect order that I am observing in Collector. I am also observing it in AGOL, so I think the issue lies there, and Collector is just following suit. I have a somewhat convoluted plan to try and trick the service into ordering the template as I require it. It does require quite a bit of work on my part though, but I may have no choice. If it works I will come back and let you know how I did it.

Ah yes, I am familiar with that document. I followed the steps to view the JSON, but was unable to find anything in there that hinted at the order in which the subtypes appear. In fact, they were ordered alphabetically in the JSON, but I guess that order does not translate into the order within the AGOL map or Collector. Very frustrating.

Hi there, I had posted this over in the Collector forum, and was told that it is a known bug, but that perhaps someone over here may be able to help out. If anyone could shed any light on it, it would be much appreciated: I just published a service with ~200 subtypes. The subtypes are species of trees, and have specific defaults and domains for cultivar, common name, origin etc based on the tree. When I was testing early on, with only a dozen or so subtypes, I observed that when I published the service and used it in Collector that the subtypes retained the order in which I had created them. With so many subtypes I decided that I would create them in alphabetical order, to make searching for the correct one as simple as possible. But now that I have entered the entire list of subtypes, I have found that Collector is not ordering them as they were entered. I have a randomly sorted list now. This is far from ideal with so many subtypes. Is there any way that I can force collector to adhere to a subtype order? Could this possibly be done via editing the schema XML? Any help/advice/ideas would be appreciated! EDIT: On closer inspection, I have noticed somewhat of a pattern in the way the subtypes are ordered. I have numbered the subtype code from 1-196. In collector they appear to be grouped into blocks of ten, like so: 110-119 30-39 120-129 1-9 40-49 130-139 50-59 ... ... etc I am trying my best to identify some kind of pattern here, because I think that if I know the pattern then I can use the subtype code to force the order in Collector. Can anyone shed any light here? EDIT 2: Okay, so I have discovered that I can reorder the subtypes in the AGOL map. There is a "manage" button underneath the subtype list while editing. This allows me to "move up" and "move down" the subtypes. This is going to take a long time, which is not ideal. Also if I ever had to re-publish the service I would have to do it all again this way. So finding out how the order is determined would be the best solution.

Thanks for your reply, Mody. I have been busy with other aspects of my dataset, which took a back seat to this issue for the time being. Once I get the time I will try your suggestion. Cheers!

I have a file geodatabase that I am working with in ArcGIS desktop 10.2.2, and when I try to add a new coded value to a domain I am confronted by the following error message: The domain will not update. This only happens on some domains, and not others. I am not attempting to change the name or description of the domain, just adding a new coded value. Can anyone shed any light on this? I have considered exporting the schema to an xml and trying to make edits this way, but would like to explore other options first. Thanks in advance.

I have a dataset with photo attachments enabled, published as a service, hosted on our organistaion AGOL server, and published in a map. Using the map on my device in Collector I can collect some data points, with photos attached. I can then sync that data. If another user wants to collect data, they can then use their device to download the map. At this point I have noticed that the user also downloads the associated attachments. When there are only a few attachments, this is not a problem. Although once several dozen attachments are present, it slows the download considerably. This dataset will contain upwards of several thousand attachments as it grows, and I am concerned that new users will be spending a long time downloading the map.I am also concerned that we could possibly run into errors with large downloads. Also there could be storage capacity issues on our devices. Are attachments completely part and parcel with the services? Is there any way to disable the attachments downloading with the service/map? If not, is there any way to mitigate any of my concerns I have outlined above? One solution that I have considered is to regularly download the data in a file geodatabase, strip out the attachments and re-create the service with an empty attachment relationship. This is not ideal, as I am having to do far more data management than I would like.

As far as I am aware Collector is currently unable to work with related tables. I heard somewhere that this functionality is coming, does anyone know when this might be happening? Also at our local ESRI UC this year there was a brief mention of an ESRI work scheduling application. Does anyone know of any further details of this?
