I'll edit this--I found this option under set up layer. Might be helpful to rename this option though, because I had no idea it would create sites. Maybe "Create Sites"?

We often already have our sites mapped in ArcGIS Pro, and publish the point layers as a feature layer in our organization on ArcGIS online. We are able to bring this published web layer into the BA Web App, and can create sites from the web layer one point at a time. But I'm not seeing a way to create sites with specified rings for the entire web layer in one action. It would be nice to have an option under the (...) menu settings for the web layer for batch creating sites for the entire layer. TY!

@RoanokeDave Thank you for posting this tutorial! I am looking for ways to set up a relational dataset for use in ArcGIS online / Experience builder. Once your relational dataset is hosted as a feature layer and is actively being used for data collection, how do you modify the structure of the dataset without overwriting the data that has already been collected? EX: adding new / related fields to the tables, adding new related tables / relationships to the dataset?

Any updates on this idea? Right now we routinely find that we need to run reports for 3 radius ring bands and 3 drive time bands per site. For example: 3, 5, 7 mile rings and 15, 20, and 30 minute drive times. Currently this requires two separate reports per site. We also have to run two separate reports even if all we needed was a 10 mile band and a 20 minute drive time, because you cannot mix the band types. Being able to run a report and a benchmark comparison analysis for up to 6-8 bands / study areas per site (regardless of band type) would address a vast majority of the site selection demands in our industry. Thank you!

The Experience Builder authoring environment allows for the duplication of layout elements, with the intent of simplifying repetitive tasks. However, I am encountering some persistent problems when using this feature to duplicate elements that include dynamic text. The desired style (color, format, font size etc) is already present when the duplicate element is created. But when attempting to modify the expression for the data that should be displayed, the insert process removes that formatting and inserts it as the default text format instead. As a result, all those stylistic elements need to be reapplied manually. Something like a style eyedropper could at least restore the text formatting with a simple click. There might also be a way to handle this in the background so that replacing the dynamic text expression only changes the data to be displayed, but retains the existing styling of the text. Similar to how modifying a label expression in ArcGIS Pro would change the data being displayed, without resetting the text formatting on the label itself. EXAMPLE: The 47 originally had the same text formatting as the 36. But when I changed the view and field being used as the data source for the numeric value, the updated expression reverted to the default text format instead. Thank you!

There is an option to aggregate points using a chart clustering option in the ArcGIS Online Map Viewer. This allows grouping of nearby points into a cluster, symbolized with a chart symbol to categorize the data within each cluster. It would be great to have this feature in ArcGIS Pro as well. Right now I have to export my point data and publish it to ArcGIS Online just so I can use the Map Viewer to symbolize information in this manner. Thank you!

I have not yet found a reasonable way to accomplish this in ArcGIS Pro. Fortunately (yet frustratingly), the ArcGIS Online map viewer has arguably more capability than ArcGIS Pro for accomplishing this task. I published my ArcGIS Pro point layer to my ArcGIS Online organization. I was then able to open that layer in the online map viewer and symbolize it using the Aggregation / Chart Clustering option. The result is dynamic and adjusts based on the scale of the map as well. But why the web mapping app has more capability than the desktop application is beyond me though. You'd think there would be better feature parity between the platforms for this, and IMO this is something that ArcGIS Pro should definitely be capable of producing on its own.

The level of map detail at a particular scale is driven by the visible scale range on each individual layer in the base map. The best solution I've found for this issue is to build my own custom basemap in ArcGIS Online. By adding each layer separately and setting the visible scale range for the layers individually, I end up with more control over the level of detail based on the overall scale of the map. We do most of our maps in 11x17 layouts, so I tailored our initial basemap for the level of detail I wanted in that size layout. A quick but less flexible fix would be to add, for example, the building footprints layer in ArcGIS Pro on top of the basemap you selected. You can set the visible scale range on that layer so it is visible even when the basemap settings turn it off. It just gets clunky to do this for a lot of basemap layers if your projects also have a lot of non-basemap data added. It's definitely a pain to do at the beginning, but once it's done and compiled it can be saved in ArcGIS Online as a basemap that can be used across your organization.

Thank you! I had this same issue and was just about to contact support when I saw your post. This worked for me as well, so I really appreciate it. I would say one caveat is that it resets all preferences, which I should have thought about first. Unfortunately a lot of leg work to set those up again (especially the saved color swatches). Otherwise, I'm glad I can actually use the sort dialog again!

It's gotten even worse now. I use 11x17 layouts, and the highest DPI I can successfully export for the USGS Topo is around 50. My guess is there is some kind of premium membership is coming, just like they got rid of custom reports in Business Analyst online unless you started paying more money. I miss my old ArcMap where I could reliably export a wall sized map, and the old ESRI where any features taken away were usually replaced with better ones for the same amount of money. 😞

I went into the BA Web App to edit a few reports and infographics and had a window pop up saying both tools were deprecated. I looked online but am not seeing what tool or option has replaced this. Does anyone know how reports and infographics are built / edited now? TY!

Interesting...of all the capabilities of this product, you'd think changing the pin color would be on the list somewhere without needing to use a different application. I'd think this is worthy of a feature request at least.

In the Business Analyst web app, I added a feature service hosted on our ArcGIS online organization via Add Data / Web Maps and Layers. The symbology for the feature service is imported into the BAO project, and the data connected to the features is visible when viewing the attribute table or pop up. However, the feature service labels using this data do not appear, and when trying to use this data in reports or infographics it shows up as null, blank, or N/A. Is there a known issue with displaying or using data from hosted features in the Business Analyst web app? Am I doing something wrong? Every time I try to access the documentation pages for the app it says page cannot be found. Thanks!

I had similar issues when using the "Visible Rows" option on a table frame. When I initially inserted the table frame, the feature was working fine. I then renamed some fields in the attribute table that the table frame was based on. As soon as I did this, Visible Rows returned no results...but I was able to change the setting and see all records in the dataset. I tried adding another copy of the same feature set to the map, and switched the table frame to pull from the new copy. Interestingly, Visible Rows worked--but the old field names were listed on the table frame. The attribute table for the copy had the updated field names, though. What "solved" this for me was to export the feature set as a new feature set. I could bring this newly exported data into the map and successfully use Visible Rows as expected. Something about changing the field names seems to have triggered this, and starting with a fresh export seems to have worked.
