I am suddenly having problems with adding base maps in ArcGIS Pro 2.0.1 as well. The basemap icon in the ribbon is greyed out. I am able to log into arcgisonline through ArcGIS Pro, as well as add data from arcgisonline (living atlas / portal). The basemap icon used to allow me to switch between the base maps in the map project...now, nothing.

Hi Robert, I was having the same file size issues as the poster and tried so many different export options out of ArcGIS Pro to reduce the file size. We create 11x17 documents using aerial imagery and many detailed vector layers. The files were exporting to PDF at around 20 MB (150 dpi). I tried using the Acrobat DC option "Save as PDF, optimized", which brought it down by a few MB. This still wasn't a realistic file size, and I was getting ready to resort to PNG files--until I saw your suggestion. This worked perfectly! The file is now 1.6MB and all vector data and the original image resolution has been retained. I'm not sure what this option does differently, or what kind of info it is removing, but it does the trick. You made my day--thanks!

Hi Everyone, I'm using data created in a BAO project in an ArcGIS Pro map. The site layer draws fine, but within PRO I can't add a custom field to this layer. As a result, I used AGOL to add the field. This field shows up on the attribute table correctly when in ArcGIS Pro, but when I try to create labels from it none of them show up on the map. Has anybody experienced this and know of a solution? I did check that labels were turned on, and selecting a "BAO generated" field to label with worked fine. Thank you!

I think this may be related to some funky behavior that I have had using excel files within Pro lately. Fixing the projection did solve the problem for other similar files, but I had to do this within ArcCatalog and not Pro. I am not sure how using the CSV bypassed the problem, but I'd rather deal with ArcCatalog than trying to solve the problem via excel. Thanks for the suggestion!

Another route that I have found that works is using ArcCatalog. If I import this excel data as a table into a file geodatabase I am then able to generate a feature class (within ArcCatalog) that can be used in ArcGIS Pro. ArcCatalog also lets me define the data type on fields, as I also had issues with coordinates being read as text even when the Excel file had it as numeric data.

Hi Michael, Did you reach out to tech support on this? If so did anybody discover the problem and a resolution? I have the same problem when trying to add a field to a shape file feature class. I get the flashing behavior as well. Thank you!

Hello! I am having some issues with the pop ups that I have configured in ArcGIS Pro. The pop up is set in the software to display a text title, 5 fields, and a chart. While in ArcGIS Pro, the pop ups display as expected: When I save this as a hosted feature layer to be used in a story map on ArcGIS Online, the fields disappear, and the visible formatting changes: Is there a way to show these fields when adding this layer to a story map, and ensure consistency between both platforms? Thanks!

It seems that the problem was a problem with the original file. When I saved the excel file as CSV things worked fine. Thank you!

I have saved a shape file in ArcMap. When I add this shape file to my ArcGIS Pro file the basemap disappears and my scale automatically turns into 1:1. I can see the points, but the base map is gone. Switching Base maps does not help the problem. If I go to the Locate tab and search for my location the base map returns and the points disappear. I have tried using a a layer package exported from ArcMap with the same results and behavior. What is going on? I could do this before without a problem. No errors were found when exporting the layer package, and when I try to view the layer's data in Pro it shows all data in the table that opens. Any ideas? It's a weird set of behaviors.

Hi Colin, I have this issue with Microsoft Excel for Mac 2011 as well, only when using data in ArcGIS Pro. IN ARCMAP I can take an Excel for Mac file into ArcMap and it recognizes the first row as field values: I can then successfully Display XY data in ArcMap: And I can successfully save this XY layer as a shape file: I can successfully use the Microsoft Excel for Mac 2011 data in ArcMap without problems. IN ARCGIS PRO When I open this SAME file in ArcGIS Pro, the program does not recognize the first row as field values: I am unable to display XY data with this table: I am also unable to export this table, receiving an error message that the file cannot be exported to any location with spaces in the file path. Note, the default file path has spaces in it. MY CURRENT WORKAROUND Right now in order to work around the problem I have to load the data first into ArcMap to generate a Shapefile that can be read by ArcGIS Pro/BAO. RELATED TO EXISTING BUG REPORT? I have similar issues using this data with BAO, and I believe that there is a bug report on it that was submitted in 2012. From what I understand the architecture of BAO and ArcGIS Pro are similar. Please investigate if this is part of the existing bug report with Mac/Excel, or requires a new bug report.

Hi Jeremy, This was on a shape file feature class. I did get a message that if I closed my fields view I would lose changes, but the message didn't ask me if I wanted to save changes. After looking around a bit more I saw that a new tab came up on the navigation bar for fields, which is where the option to save was. Once I saved it, the data table did update as expected. A bit of a goof on my part as I was looking more in the data table / fields table menus for the option. Having the option to save via that unsaved changes dialog would be helpful though. Thanks for the response!

Thanks for the updates Daniel! I was looking for something to add padding to the whole legend, and never thought the indent before / after would do it. This was very helpful.

Good Morning, I seem to be having a problem when making edits within the Fields View. I tried to uncheck the visibility on most of the field in my table, but when I go back to the table all of the fields are visible--as if I hadn't made the change. Am I missing something, or is anybody else able to replicate this? ArcMap does this without much fuss or mystery. Thanks!

Hi Daniel, I have handled this using the Element properties panel while the Legend is selected. The offset effect (located under the background property) will add the padding you are looking for, as well as corner options (aka "Method").
