Hello Preston. Check out ArcGIS Data Reviewer's Find Dangles Check. This check is available in ArcMap's Data Reviewer or in ArcGIS Pro's Attribute Rules as Ready-to-Use rules. https://desktop.arcgis.com/en/arcmap/latest/extensions/data-reviewer/finding-dangles-on-line-features.htm https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/data/validating-data/find-dangles.htm I use this check all the time for street centerline data and utility network data where there's valid dangles but still need to check for proper connectivity.

We are excited to offer Data Health Check appointments at this year's User Conference. It's been a popular offering at UC for the past 10 years. Users get to meet with an Esri industry expert, who will assess the quality of their GIS data (geometry and attributes) for use cases such as getting ready to migrate to the Utility Network or Parcel Fabric, connectivity issues in their geometric network, report/submit data quality, understand inherited data, readiness to migrate to indoors data model, and more. Customers with water, wastewater, stormwater, electric, gas, linear referenced pipelines, addressing, land records, street centerlines, airports (airfield operations), and Indoors datasets can sign up for a free, 45-min virtual appointment. Learn more about this awesome offering here. If you are ready to sign-up, click here.

Hello Daniel, The selection set option only works on selected features in a feature class. Unfortunately, it does not run on selected records in a table. michellej.

Vu Tuan, There is an option to check for NULLs. It will not flag fields with blanks. But I think that the expression should flag those. If it does not, then you can create an Execute SQL Check to look for NULL and blanks. Regards, michellej.

Hello Vu Tuan, I used the last option you provided, ([0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]-[A-Z]-[A-Z][A-Z]), and I was getting expected results. I'm assuming that your format must be like 6636-V-DN. I created sample data with good and bad formatting. The highlighted records were returned. They do not follow format of 4 digits, dash, 1 capital letter, dash, 2 capital letters. Regards, michellej.

Hello. Unfortunately, the Repair Geometry geoprocessing tool does not work on enterprise geodatabases. But if you look at what that tool does, you could probably find other tools to do what it's doing. For example, some of the more common geometry issues that I come across are NULL geometries. You can use Select By Attribute to select where the Shape_Area or Shape_Length is NULL or 0 and then Delete those features. Another is polylines with duplicate vertices. You can use Generalize or Simplify Line to remove excess vertices. Good Luck! michellej.

Hi Evan, I have done this on occasion and it's worked for me for the most part. I just want Data Reviewer users to know that this is not a recommended workflow, and we cannot guarantee that it will not cause problems down the road. That being said, if you want to try it, be sure to make a copy of the RBJ file before editing it.

Jay Cary Can this be updated for 10.6? I like this tool a lot. I works up to 10.5.1, but with the changes to the Reviewer Workspace at 10.6, it's not recognizing the reviewer workspace.

It really was my pleasure working with Cliff Sullivan and Mark Dickman at SACWD. These two guys really knew how to make finding errors fun. With their positive attitudes and get-it-done mentality, they quickly gained a good grasp of using the data QC extension, ArcGIS Data Reviewer. Look where their success got them featured – in the latest issue of ArcNews! https://www.esri.com/about/newsroom/arcnews/performing-data-checks-keeps-water-running/ If you are interested in a quick review of Data Reviewer reviewing your data, schedule a Data Health Check at this year's UC, go.esri.com/dhc-uc18

With only a few days left for the Esri User Conference, I wanted to bring to your attention a very cool offering. It’s totally free if you are registered to attend the UC. If you’ve always wondered how good is your GIS data? Especially now, if you have plans to migrate to the Utility Network or the parcel fabric. Or you are completely new to GIS and have just migrated your data into a geodatabase. Well, then you are the perfect candidate to sign up for a data health check. In this 45-minute user activity, an Esri industry expert will review and analyze the features and attributes in your data one-on-one with you. They will be using ArcGIS Data Reviewer extension to run diagnostic checks and find errors, if any. A report detailing the checks and features/attributes that are in errors will be provided back to you. How useful would that be? You can take it back to your organization and explore the tools further to see what other checks can be run. If you work with one of these datasets, Water, wastewater or stormwater (see how Tucson Water and South Adams County Water & Sanitation District are benefiting) Electric, gas or pipeline Land records, addressing, street centerlines Linear reference roads and highways 3D Watch my invite and please sign up for an appointment right away. Reservations are highly recommended as this offering is extremely popular. See you at the UC! Michelle Johnson GIS Data QA Lead, Geodata Services

I just returned from a trip to Tucson Water where I helped Terri Bunting (GIS Supervisor) and Lorena Baltierrez (QA/QC Lead) implement ArcGIS Data Reviewer as part of their daily editing and quality control workflows. This was probably one of the most successful business trips I've made during my 25+ years at Esri. It all started out with a quick Data Health Check that I conducted on their water utility data a couple of years ago at the Esri UC. I used the ArcGIS Data Reviewer extension to configure several data checks and validated their water data. As with most utility users whose data is in geometric network, I found the typical errors: duplicate features, disconnected lines and points, and required fields not being populated. These type of data issues affect any network tracing results and the connection back to any 3rd party applications, like an asset management system. After completing the data health check, Terri and Lorena were excited to take the recommendations I provided and implement Data Reviewer when they got back to the office. Their feedback regarding the session was, “This is a great addition to the user conference, thank you!” After a couple of false starts due to existing staff workloads and not having extra time to ramp up and implement Data Reviewer, this year they looked into doing a 3-day Data Reviewer jumpstart workshop. How lucky was I that I got assigned to do this jumpstart with them?! Terri and Lorena were very excited too! While onsite, I helped them configure the quality control checks that were appropriate for their data. One of the main goals for their GIS system is to be able to perform valve isolation tracing on their water utility data by the end of the year. To achieve this goal, we prioritized the data checks that focused on feature connectivity. What helped me most during this whole process was how well organized and prepared they were by providing a data editing guidelines document. We went through the specifications to identify checks that needed to be created. By doing so, we also found areas where their editing guidelines needed to be updated. Besides doing QC on their data, they got the added bonus of QC’ing their guidelines too! In fact, Terri shared that Lorena is already teaching others how to include the new functionality to their editing workflows and feels their editors are confident in using Data Reviewer right away! Not only was the implementation successful, these two wonderful ladies were also so very hospitable and really appreciative of my visit. They made my job enjoyable and I felt like we bonded instantly which made my trip so great. I am excited and I can’t wait to hear about their progress as they begin utilizing the tools effectively to clean up their entire water data. We, at Esri, strive hard to enable our customers to successfully implement and efficiently use their GIS. That’s why we are offering complimentary Data Health Checks at the upcoming 2018 Esri UC. Watch this video of me inviting you to sign up for a session. Michelle Johnson GIS Data QA Lead, Geodata Services

You can use the table to table attribute check to find these kind of duplicates. Select the fields you want to do an attribute comparison and then also include ObjectID <> ObjectID. Also, when using the table to table attribute check, it is best to index the fields you are using in your attribute comparison for better performance.

Hi. When you enable the Reviewer workspace, you need to pass in the spatial reference that matches the data you are validating. If you do not pass in the spatial reference, it will default to GCS_WGS_1984. If the spatial reference of your features you are validating does not match the spatial reference of the Reviewer workspace, it cannot capture the error geometries. Hope this helps. Cheers, michellej.
