Hi Matthew, Performing the checkout (Get Data For ArcPad) prior to each checkin (Get Data From ArcPad) is the required workflow or you will duplicate features if only using a single check-out and multiple chec-kin processes. You are correct, there is not a method to specify what records to upload from AXF files. However you can vote for this and other ArcPad feature enhancements via ArcGIS Ideas site, "Step through" ArcPad edits during check-in into ArcMap, http://ideas.arcgis.com/ideaView?id=087300000008OG0AAM. We need to remember that only geodatabase feature layers truly participate in check-out/check-in processes. Shapefiles are strictly a copy-out process and is basically a copy/paste of shapefile, shapefiles do not provide transactional information which so many ArcPad users need, particularly in the QA/QC process. You might look at using QuickProject Templates as an alternative workflow; I recommend reviewing the Help documentation and ArcPad Team Blog topic listed below before deciding upon this method. If your QuickProject is schema only, then duplicate records would not be created after using the QuickProject to Geodatabase tool to bring the ArcPad edits into the geodatabase. Getting Started with a New QuickProject http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcpad/10.0/help/index.html#/Getting_started_with_a_new_QuickProject/00s100000015000000/ Create ArcPad Templates http://arcpadteam.blogspot.com/2010/09/create-arcpad-templates.html QuickProject to Geodatabase http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcpad/10.0/help/index.html#/QuickProject_to_Geodatabase/00s1000000wv000000/ The last item in your post asked "Why has v10 disabled the dropdown domains in a shapefile that is exported from "get data for ArcPad"?" I'm not sure I fully understand the question, ArcPad 10 hasn't disabled dropdown domains in shapefiles when exported using 'Get Data For ArcPad' tool. Are you selecting an existing Layer Definition from a shapefile to use as a template for the check-out? The Layer Definition Templateallows you to reuse forms, scripts, icons, and other layer definition elements (screenshot). Hi Vijay, You are encountering a software defect logged as NIM061212; Labels do not persist in a Mobile Map Cache if there is a subtype field present in the data. Please contact Esri Support to have your company associated to this NIM. Current workaround is to convert the labels to annotation. Thank you, Denise

Hi Matthew, Typically duplicate records created in this manner are result of multiple 'Get Data From ArcPad' without the preceeding 'Get Data For ArcPad' function. Do you perform the 'Get Data For ArcPad' process prior to every 'Get Data From ArcPad' process? http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcpad/10.0/help/index.html#/Overview_of_the_ArcPad_Data_Manager_for_ArcGIS/00s10000007t000000/ Cheers, Denise

Hi Sean, I assume you are using ArcGIS Mobile 10, correct? It wasn't until 10 release that Esri offered Desktop usage in addition to Server usage. Are you using Mobile Project Center (MPC)? You can change the Layer Settings in MPC for Operational Map Layers including the Editable property. If you uncheck the Editable property, the Edit Form will be disabled and if disabled the map layer doesn't support editing. Cheers, Denise

Hi Kevin, File geodatabase fields have limit of 255 characters max; same applies to Personal geodatabase. You may try converting "memo" field to "text" field and retry but I believe you will again hit the 255 character limit. Cheers, Denise

Hi Jackson, I answered your other post but thought I would include the comments here as well. The Turn Feature Class toolset contains tools used to build and edit turn data. The tools in the toolset allow you to create new turn feature classes, convert existing ArcView or ArcInfo Workstation turn tables to turn feature classes, and maintain the integrity of existing turn features based on their geometry or an alternate ID field in cases when the reference source features are updated. Overview of Turn Feature Class toolset http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesk...0011000000.htm The Network Analyst tutorial exercises are a good starting point for learning ArcGIS Network Analyst. They provide data, steps, and conceptual information on how to accomplish specific goals, such as building network datasets and performing various network analyses. http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesk...000005r000000/ Cheers, Denise

Hi all, Esri Support hasn't been able to reproduce the reported behavior when testing with Riverside sample dataset. We would like to investigate reports of ArcPad Data Manager not creating AXFs during checkout. If you are current on maintenance, please contact Support Services to log the interaction. Please be sure to include ArcPad and ArcGIS license level, version and SPs installed. In addition, copy of original MXD and small sample of data will help us in troubleshooting these reports. Thank you, Denise

Hi Richard, You will enter the ArcPad StreetMap registration code in ArcPad the first time you open *.navmap file. The Rhode Island sample is ArcPad StreetMap and can be used when working with tutorial. ArcPad StreetMap registration codes are different from your ArcPad 10 registration code and data vendors available are TomTom (formerly TeleAtlas) and Navteq. Each data vendor has specific registration codes for North America and Europe data sets. If you do not have a registration number, you can click OK, and continue using ArcPad in evaluation mode. Evaluation mode allows you to use all ArcPad functionality for 20 minutes. Cheers, Denise

Hi, The 'tooltip' attribute for TOOLBUTTON object is only supported on Desktop version of ArcPad. Please review the Customizing ArcPad Help documentation for more information on this item. ArcPad Studio Help > Customizing ArcPad Toolbars. Tool tips are displayed as a pop up when the mouse cursor moves over the custom tool. This functionality is not available when running ArcPad on Windows Mobile/Windows CE. You can specify prompts for custom tools. Prompts are displayed in the status bar when the mouse cursor moves over the custom tool. This functionality is not available when running ArcPad on Windows Mobile/Windows CE. Cheers, Denise

Hi Nick, I'm not sure I fully understand this but have you tried modifying the data path in ArcPad on the Juno device? In ArcPad, select Options dropdown and select Options to display ArcPad Options dialog. Click on Paths tab, modify the Default Maps & Data Path to include location of folders containing your ArcPad maps and data. For more information, please review associated Help topic, http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcpad/10.0/help/index.html#/Paths/00s10000003q000000/. Cheers, Denise

Hi Gary, Are you using the Polygon feature tool when editing with GPS? The Ellipse, Circle, Rectangle, and Freehand Polygon feature tools allows data capture with the pen but not with incoming GPS coordinates. The Add GPS Vertex and Add GPS Vertices Continuously tools are enabled when the GPS is active and the polygon feature type (or polyline) is active for data capture. Same holds true for Polyline tool, the Line tool and Freehand Line tool allows data capture with the pen but not with incoming GPS coordinates. http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcpad/10.0/help/index.html#/The_Edit_toolbar/00s100000007000000/ Cheers, Denise
