Hi Bob, You might find some information by researching Code Error 800A01A8 on a site similar to this link, http://www.computerperformance.co.uk/Logon/code/code_800A01A8.htm. If you have current ArcPad maintenance, please feel free to submit your challenge using Esri Support site links for phone, email, webform, or chat http://support.esri.com/en to help troubleshoot this issue. Please include ArcPad version, service pack or build information and provide screenshots of errors or dialogs which illustrate behavior you are reporting. Does the behavior occur on both desktop PC and mobile PC or only one of these platforms? To research this further, we will need you to provide sample of the project resulting in the error. Please note that we do not write or debug scripting in Support Services. However, you can send me the applet, the associated data and VBS file if you would like me to verify a suspected bug. If you suspect a bug, we ask that you isolate the issue to the smallest reproducible case. If you would like help writing the applet (script, etc), we suggest posting to the User Forums, contacting your Regional Representative, or contacting Professional Services. Thanks, Denise

Hi Kurt, It doesn't appear the ArcPad GP tools include the 'select photo options' that exist in the ArcPad Data Manager wizard. I have logged ArcPad Enhancement CQ312827; Enh: Add 'select photo options' fields to ArcPad GP tools. In the future, you can track the status of CQ00312827 via the My Support site, http://support.esri.com/. Thank you, Denise

Hi Jay, Tabbing order is the same as the order of controls in the FORM definition. You can modify the tab order by using basic drag/drop functionality.Within the FORM element, simply drag/drop the controls to change their order. Cheers, Denise

Matt, I have logged the inability to re-use forms, scripts etc associated with shapefile during ArcPad copyout process as CQ00312821; Layer Definition Template checkbox is no longer enabled for shapefiles within Get Data For ArcPad wizard. You can track this and other CQs through Esri's Customer Care site via My Support > Support Bugs link. Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Denise

Ciprian, Mike, The 'Generate Mobile Service Cache' and 'Create Mobile Basemap' tools are available in Mobile Tools toolbox in ArcGIS Desktop 9.3 and 9.3.1 releases only, they are not available in 10 release. The 'Create Mobile Map' and 'Synchronize Mobile Cache' became available in Mobile Tools toolbox with ArcGIS Desktop 10 release. Thanks, Denise

Hi Rolf, The workflow you describe is possible dependent upon users who continue to use the same AXF if it is the one that they checked in. If they copy an edited AXF off their mobile device and check the data back in, they need to be sure to take the checked-in AXF and overwrite the one that is still on the mobile device. If they do not do this, they will get the duplicated features because they will be working on a non checked in version of the AXF. That is why we recommend the workflow I posted previously, as it is more straightforward and is less vulnerable to duplicate records being created. I hope this helps clarify my previous statement. Hi Matthew, I took your question, "Is there any way to upload a specific subset of the data from AXF during check-in?" to ArcPad team and they suggest that you query AXF file in Studio before check-in data process. In the example shown below, you should examine both AXF_TIMESTAMP and AXF_STATUS fields before and after check-in. It is the AXF_STATUS field that will be changed after check-in. One (1) new pole was added to Riverside_mdb.axf. A SQL statement was used to query the data to see what had been added/changed today. I hope this additional information is helpful. Thank you, Denise

Hi Kevin, I recommend logging a support incident with Esri Support via http://support.esri.com/ so that an ArcPad analyst can investigate this behavior. We will need a small sample of the project and assocated data to troubleshoot this issue further. Thank you, Denise

Hi James, Have you tried renaming the ArcPad.apx file in C:\Users\<profile>\Documents\My ArcPad\ path? I typically rename to oldArcPad.apx and restart the application. If this doesn't resolve the error and you are current in ArcPad maintenance, please log a support incident with Esri Support via http://support.esri.com/ so we can help to further troubleshoot this error. Thank you, Denise

Hi Rolf, Yes, each check in (from ArcPad to ArcGIS) needs to be preceded by a check out (from ArcGIS to ArcPad) otherwise duplicate features will be created. I think the typical workflow diagram is an ideal visual representation of the complete processes. Hi Tim, I encourage you to submit this suggestion on ArcGIS Ideas site under ArcPad product. The ArcGIS Ideas site allows members of the GIS user communities to submit enhancement requests online. The collection of user ideas on the site promotes increased visibility and provides ways that readers can promote or demote an idea. The site allows users to give comments or feedback regarding the usefulness of a proposed idea, easily sort through community-authored enhancements, and provide the Esri User Advocacy Group with real-life use cases that help convert an idea into a function of the product. Dr. Studley, I haven't seen this behavior before nor heard it reported by other ArcPad users. But perhaps your post will bring out other users who have experienced this. What version of ArcPad is used, what SPs are installed? What device are you using? Does it have all recommended upgrades and GPS Firmware installed? What type of terrain exists where you collect GPS positions? Are there any obvious sources of GPS interference? Are you using the Polygon feature tool or one of the other shape tools? As you can see, we need to gather additional information to assist you in troubleshooting this issue and I encourage you to log a support request with Esri Support via Esri Support site, http://support.esri.com/. Cheers, Denise

Hi, I believe you are referring to the Mobile Cache to Shapefile tool (9.3). This tool extracts selected features from a 9.3 mobile cache to a shapefile. You can find it in the ArcGIS Mobile Gallery on Resource Center site, http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=f58062e439c34b13b3b63f38c5cbb8d7. There are also tools for 9.2 and 10.0 releases. Hi Christopher, Currently, ArcGIS Mobile does not support related tables. However, the ArcGIS Mobile team has provided a sample that is accessible through the Mobile Code Gallery that demonstrates how to work with related table and standalone table in ArcGIS Mobile. As we know, ArcGIS Mobile does not directly support related table or standalone table within the SDK. However, you could use other methods to access related/standalone table. This sample illustrates the technique of using GeoData server service and creates 1-way checkout replica. http://resources.esri.com/arcgismobile/index.cfm?fa=codeGallery Please vote on this and other ArcGIS Mobile Ideas via ArcGIS Ideas site, http://ideas.arcgis.com/ideaView?id=0873000000086uUAAQ. Support for related tables in ArcGIS Mobile is currently 'under consideration'. Thank you, Denise

Hi Jayson, Yes, you need to be running ArcGIS Server 10 Advanced edition to use the Schematics extension. No ArcGIS Server Schematics license is required on the server to display diagrams. Please review the ArcGIS Server 10 Resource Center for additional information on displaying schematic diagrams. http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisserver/10.0/help/arcgis_server_dotnet_help/index.html#/Displaying_schematic_diagrams/0093000001mm000000/ Please note that an ArcGIS Server Schematics license is required on the server for generating and updating diagrams. For more information, please review the ArcGIS Server Functionality Matrix document. http://www.esri.com/library/brochures/pdfs/arcgis-server-functionality-matrix.pdf Thank you, Denise

Hi Tim, You can only output to NMEA protocol when using serial connection. The USB is only Garmin protocol and like Shane stated you will need a 3rd party utility such as Franson's GpsGate to use Garmin USB GPS receiver with standard GPS applications. GpsGate has been recommended by many GPS users running ArcMap's GPS Toolbar, ArcPad, and ArcGIS Mobile applications. Thank you, Denise
