Chris, Perhaps you simply need to add the Mobile Tools toolbox from System toolboxes. 1 - Open ArcToolbox and right-click in any whitespace area of ArcToolbox > select Add Toolbox option. 2 - In Add Toolbox window, navigate to \Program Files\ArcGIS\Mobile10.0\ArcToolbox\Toolboxes and select Mobile Tools.tbx > click Open. 3 - Mobile Tools toolbox should now display in ArcToolbox; consists of Create Mobile Map and Synchronize Mobile Cache tools. 4 - Right-click in any whitespace area of ArcToolbox > select Save Settings > To Default to retain Mobile Tools in ArcToolbox. Note: If you performed Steps 1-4 in ArcMap, you need to perform same steps in ArcCatalog. For more information, please review the Using the ArcToolbox Window topic in Help, http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesktop/10.0/help/index.html#//003q0000001m000000.htm. If you believe you are missing other toolboxes, perform Steps 1 and 2 above but navigate to \Program Files\ArcGIS\Desktop10.0\ArcToolbox\Toolboxes to see list of System toolboxes. Cheers, Denise

Hi Angela, What StreetMap product are you using? Is this an extension to one of the ArcGIS solutions? Typically Esri StreetMap Premium data is found on its own media, usually 2 CDs. The data needs to be copied to local machine in order to use it when working through any tutorial. If you are missing the media, please contact Esri Customer Service. Denise

Hi Chris, You will see the 'No projects were found on this device' message because you haven't yet created a mobile project. I apologize, I believe my instructions to install from 'MobileWindowsApp' was incorrect, please double-click the 'ESRI.exe' file to launch the media. You will find 'Setup' for both the ArcGIS Mobile and ArcGIS Mobile Windows Application as well as the Install Guide. You can also find the Installation Guide on ArcGIS Mobile Resource Center, http://resources.arcgis.com/content/arcgis-mobile/10.0/about. After you have installed the application, revisit ArcGIS Mobile Help to learn how to use the Mobile Project Center desktop application to create and manage field projects for use with the ready to deploy ArcGIS Mobile field applications.Using the Mobile Project Center you can create new mobile projects and save them locally on your desktop, to your corporate web server, or inside of your ArcGIS.com account. To get started, see Working with Projects. I recommend watching the following videos on ArcGIS Mobile Resource Center: Using ArcGIS Mobile with ArcGIS Desktop, What is Mobile Project Center, How to Create a Mobile Project, http://resources.arcgis.com/gallery/video/arcgis-mobile. Cheers, Denise

Jane, Esri released new StreetMap data for ArcPad 10 which includes the DDA utility. Not the same StreetMap data provided with ArcPad 8 release. I was unable to locate a listed version in the About DDA option but modified date is listed as 2009 whereas the link you refer to has date of 2008. Also, the Streetmap Data Extractor (DDA) listed in the link was created for ArcPad 7.1.1 release. To obtain the DDA that is shipped with Esri StreetMap Premium data for ArcPad 10, please submit a support incident requesting the file be uploaded to our FTP site for your use (include this Forum topic in your request). In the meantime, I will inquire if ArcPad team plans to update the DDA utility in the future. Hope this additional information is helpful. Denise

Hi Elizabeth, Please confirm you are running ArcPad 7.0.1 on a Windows Mobile 6.1 OS device. I ask because ArcPad 7.0.1 is a retired version of ArcPad (June 2010) and not supported for Windows Mobile 6.1 OS. ArcPad 7.0.1 was supported on Windows CE 4.2, CE 5.0, Windows Mobile 2003, Windows Mobile 2003 2nd Ed., and Windows Mobile 5.0 versions. ArcPad 8.0 release is the first release supported for Windows Mobile 6.1 OS. If you have ArcPad running on a supported Windows Mobile OS then I would suggest adding the ArcPadHiRes script to resolve the menu font size, http://arcscripts.esri.com/details.asp?dbid=14683. If supported configuration, this script should resolve the issue for you. Thank you, Denise

Hi Jane, Typically the Data Distribution Assistant utility (DDA also referred to as Desktop Data Extractor) is included with Esri StreetMap Premium media and is located in the DDA folder. The functionality of DDA utility is the same as with the version you are using. I do not believe there are plans to update this link since the DDA utility is now included with all Esri StreetMap Premium products. If you do not have the DDA folder on your Esri StreetMap media, please provide complete title of the data including vendor, geographic area, and release information. Thank you, Denise

Hi Bruce, Customization of toolbars can only be performed in ArcPad for Windows and not ArcPad for Windows Mobile therefore Design Mode is not available on mobile device. I will work with the ArcPad team to add this information do the Help documentation in 'Working in Design Mode' topic. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Hopefully you have discovered that making ArcPad Apps (with custom toolbars) is available in both ArcPad for Windows and ArcPad for Windows Mobile environments. If you wish to use custom toolbars in your Windows Mobile Apps, you must first customize the toolbars on Windows, then copy them to your Windows Mobile device. Cheers, Denise

John, Do you have ArcPad Studio? If you do, open the AXF in ArcPad Studio and right-click on individual layer then select Export option to export the selected layers to shapefile format. You can then manually copy the edits to original geodatabase in an active ArcMap edit session. Cheers, Denise

Hi John, You may be able to perform a 'fake checkout' which will then allow you to, as you said, redo your checkin. You can follow the instructions in Knowledge Base article, HowTo: Perform a 'Fake' ArcPad Checkout, http://support.esri.com/en/knowledgebase/techarticles/detail/35524. Cheers, Denise

Hi Kristofer, The mobile GIS application you use would depend upon the operating system of your phone. What type of phone will you be using in the field? Check out Esri's Mobile GIS solutions, http://www.esri.com/products/index.html#mobile_gis_panel and review Mobile GIS Resource Center for additional information, http://resources.arcgis.com/content/mobilegis/about. Hi David, You can recover those edits by using the MobileCacheTool which can extract selected features or features in a specified status (original/added/deleted/modified/current) to a shapefile. http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=30280910f8a1441d8cb962e6225ebd2d Cheers, Denise

Hi Jane, Can you provide a sample of the AXF for our testing? Does the behavior occur on both desktop PC and mobile PC or only one of these platforms? If you have current ArcPad maintenance, please feel free to submit your challenge using Esri Support site links for phone, email, webform, or chat http://support.esri.com/en to help troubleshoot this issue. Thank you, Denise
