I often find myself switching between tabs in the Content Pane. I go from List by Selectability, to List by Snapping layers, back to List by Order (Visibility). It would be so very helpful if there was an ability to "pop-out" those Content Lists into separate panes so we don't have to constantly switch back-and-forth between Content List tabs. The interface would be something like this: Once it's open, you could have them side-by-side. This would allow for an interface with less clicking when you need to adjust various settings for layers. --OPTIONAL IDEA-- Instead of pop-outs, keep the single pane but move Selectability, Editability, Snapability from tabs to 3 separate check boxes next to the layer names. Below sketches out the idea with the check boxes to the right of the layer names, but they could be off to the left, as well, with perhaps a "eye" icon above Visibility.

@Robert_LeClair - Did you try creating the chart using a connection to an EGDB feature class layer? It appears the problem only happens with SDE connections.

I'm seeing this same issue but only with enterprise geodatabases/sde connections. If I export the EGDB feature class to a File Geodatabase, the issue goes away. I'm using ArcGIS Pro 3.0.3. Feeling like this is a bug, because the "Selection" filter appears when the Chart is first being created and is loading the data, but as soon as the data is loaded, the button disappears. Makes no sense for the Selection filter to disappear just because the layer is in an EGDB by design.

ArcGIS Pro 3.0.3 - column width behavior is inconsistent. If you double-click the right side of a column header, it will adjust the column to the width of the data. Note that if you use this method (double-click to snap to data width), the column will shrink back to it's original size after you refresh the table (lower right of table-recycle icon) or conduct a Calculate Field event (which refreshes the column). However, if you instead use the click-and-drag method of readjusting your column width, the column width will persist after a table refresh or a Calculate Field event. It took me some time to realize this and will adjust my behavior to have the desired outcome, but feel that both methods of adjusting column width should persist after refreshes. My DREAM is to have the ability in the Fields view (where you manage fields for a layer) to set a "default" column width for any/all columns in a table, so that when you add the feature class/table to a new map and open the attribute table, the columns are adjusted to your default value. And further, it would be awesome to have those default values be adjustable (like field order) in the map session.

Yes, mobile geodatabases are just as functional in that regard as other geodatabases. I can append to an MGDB and from an MGDB into a Hosted Feature Layer (Portal/AGOL). What's the specific workflow you are having problems with? And I apologize ahead of time if I misunderstood what you said 🙂

I really appreciate the offer, but as a matter of policy we can only acquire software from vendor's directly. I'll contact Esri support since I haven't seen any ideas of where to find them now. If I get a helpful answer I'll share it here.

It used to be easy to find the latest Patchfinder.exe, which allows you to see which versions and patches are installed on a machine. For the life of me, I can't locate that program anymore in the downloads area. I've also checked in the patches download area, but nothing like that is there. Did the name change or did Esri stop making it?

Your method would certainly work, and love your well formatted/visual documentation style! Personally, I dislike adding/joining/calculating/dropping fields when ever possible. In both approaches, it is necessary to load the data into the new target schema, right? So if you're going to append that data, why not just flip the target datatype to GUID during the append step and be done with it instead of performing 15 additional steps after appending the data? I guess I'm just lazy 😜

It would be nice to turn off "auto sorting" on any table. Just place it as a toggle option in the table's context menu. As an aside, when I'm doing thing like what you (@DonnaMoreau) are doing, I copy the layer I'm editing, turn off it's map visibility and editability, and open the attribute table on the side, and sort it the way I want it sorted. That way, when I make edits in my edit attribute table, I don't have to worry about what's going on over in the other table. I'm not 100% sure that will work for you, but maybe it will work if I read you right.

that there are valid use cases for keeping something like an attribute table open even if it's related map is closed. So that won't be the solution to this, but we will look at design improvements to make this a better experience. @KoryKramer, I have noticed that when you close a map now, in Pro 3.0.2, all associated tables close with it. I'm not sure if that's a new behavior, but it's definitely happening now.

While the term by itself "Change Version" makes perfect sense, in the context of the ribbon I feel it should be renamed to "Switch Versions". Here's why. When I'm looking for either "Change Version" or "Version Changes" tools, my brain has to pause and make sure I understand what I'm reading. Maybe I'm alone on this, but in UI/UX any similar sounding phrases, especially when the words in the phrase are almost identical, but reversed, it can cause users to hesitate or choose the wrong option. It's not perplexing, it's just... a mild irritation? Change Version Changes (huh? wait...) What I believe would help make these two tools distinctive immediately would be to alter the name of the "Change Version" tool to "Switch Versions", like so: Ahhh, much better! See how much easier it is to immediate see the difference between the two tools now? They now only share one similar word "Version(s)", but even the plurality is different now which has a distinctive impact. "Changes/Switch" in this context disambiguate the intent of the tools without even reading the other words, but "Version/Versions" also expand on that. Together, "Version Changes" vs. "Switch Versions" is much faster to process (and less irritating) than "Version Changes" vs. "Change Version". It's a minor change to the code (the label really) with a big benefit to the user.

The existing documentation doesn't mention that you can edit a license file for Portal. It only states that you can generate a new license file. It would be super helpful to new admins who need to add a license (i.e. extra user types like Creators) to a Portal if the documentation here included the instructions from this Technical Article. Without that hint, clue, or suggestion, a newbie can get stuck when following the documentation as it is. The documentation makes it appear as if there is only one way to obtain a Portal license - by generating a totally new one. However, the second method, the method needed, is how to Edit a License File. It's super simple, but the misdirection due to the lack of this simple information creates unnecessary confusion. Adding that simple step/guide to the documentation would hopefully prevent future newbies from ending up at the same dead end I did. Thanks to Esri Support for showing me step 1.

Another limitation people can run into, but it isn't very obvious, is field name length. Most DBMS have a 31 character limit to field/column names, but ArcGIS Online (AGOL) allows you to name fields higher than 31 characters. What we noticed is that if your AGOL item has a field name 32 characters long or higher, the sync/replication will fail, but it won't tell you why. These long names in our situation were coming from how Survey123 authoring can use a survey question as the field name (ie. "how_many_times_have_you_seen_garbage"). We will fix this moving forward, but it's a reality we encountered. It would be super helpful if somehwere in the Distributed Collaboration (DC) stack the backend programming would at least check the field name lengths in AGOL before attempting to do the sync and notify the Portal administrator in the "Failed" message that X item in AGOL failed because it has field names that are longer than 31 characters.

I know it's been over 2 years, but you can copy apps using Esri's AGO Assist tool: https://ago-assistant.esri.com/ You first give AGO Assist permissions to log into your AGO account, and then you pick "Copy content" from the drop down. Tell it you want to copy it to your account. Then you select which app you want to copy and drag it over to the right side in the folder you would like to copy it to.
