that there are valid use cases for keeping something like an attribute table open even if it's related map is closed. So that won't be the solution to this, but we will look at design improvements to make this a better experience. @KoryKramer, I have noticed that when you close a map now, in Pro 3.0.2, all associated tables close with it. I'm not sure if that's a new behavior, but it's definitely happening now.

While the term by itself "Change Version" makes perfect sense, in the context of the ribbon I feel it should be renamed to "Switch Versions". Here's why. When I'm looking for either "Change Version" or "Version Changes" tools, my brain has to pause and make sure I understand what I'm reading. Maybe I'm alone on this, but in UI/UX any similar sounding phrases, especially when the words in the phrase are almost identical, but reversed, it can cause users to hesitate or choose the wrong option. It's not perplexing, it's just... a mild irritation? Change Version Changes (huh? wait...) What I believe would help make these two tools distinctive immediately would be to alter the name of the "Change Version" tool to "Switch Versions", like so: Ahhh, much better! See how much easier it is to immediate see the difference between the two tools now? They now only share one similar word "Version(s)", but even the plurality is different now which has a distinctive impact. "Changes/Switch" in this context disambiguate the intent of the tools without even reading the other words, but "Version/Versions" also expand on that. Together, "Version Changes" vs. "Switch Versions" is much faster to process (and less irritating) than "Version Changes" vs. "Change Version". It's a minor change to the code (the label really) with a big benefit to the user.

The existing documentation doesn't mention that you can edit a license file for Portal. It only states that you can generate a new license file. It would be super helpful to new admins who need to add a license (i.e. extra user types like Creators) to a Portal if the documentation here included the instructions from this Technical Article. Without that hint, clue, or suggestion, a newbie can get stuck when following the documentation as it is. The documentation makes it appear as if there is only one way to obtain a Portal license - by generating a totally new one. However, the second method, the method needed, is how to Edit a License File. It's super simple, but the misdirection due to the lack of this simple information creates unnecessary confusion. Adding that simple step/guide to the documentation would hopefully prevent future newbies from ending up at the same dead end I did. Thanks to Esri Support for showing me step 1.

Another limitation people can run into, but it isn't very obvious, is field name length. Most DBMS have a 31 character limit to field/column names, but ArcGIS Online (AGOL) allows you to name fields higher than 31 characters. What we noticed is that if your AGOL item has a field name 32 characters long or higher, the sync/replication will fail, but it won't tell you why. These long names in our situation were coming from how Survey123 authoring can use a survey question as the field name (ie. "how_many_times_have_you_seen_garbage"). We will fix this moving forward, but it's a reality we encountered. It would be super helpful if somehwere in the Distributed Collaboration (DC) stack the backend programming would at least check the field name lengths in AGOL before attempting to do the sync and notify the Portal administrator in the "Failed" message that X item in AGOL failed because it has field names that are longer than 31 characters.

I know it's been over 2 years, but you can copy apps using Esri's AGO Assist tool: https://ago-assistant.esri.com/ You first give AGO Assist permissions to log into your AGO account, and then you pick "Copy content" from the drop down. Tell it you want to copy it to your account. Then you select which app you want to copy and drag it over to the right side in the folder you would like to copy it to.

Out of curiousity, does your PC have a dedicated video card that meets Pro recommended specs? Mine does, and I wonder if that has anything to do with me not experiencing it on my laptop but I do on the remote machine which doesn't.

I think this only happens to me when I'm remoting into another machine and running Pro on the remote machine. Usually closing Pro and reopening it works to fix it, and it doesn't happen often enough for me to stop using this work pattern. I want to say that my local machine has better capabilities and I don't think it's ever happened on it. Suffice it to say, I have experienced a Pro map get corrupted where tracing never worked again, but if I created a new map it worked fine. I just don't like having to do that all the time, ugh.

I like the UI layout. I can customize the top things I use to always be available and I'm always learning where new things are. One wish would be to be able to "dock" a ribbon so it's always available, preventing me from having to jump back and forth between ribbons. Another wish is that the when context changes that the automatic ribbon switch happened much quicker, so more a UX thing. As it is now, it takes like a second and I feel like I'm sitting there waiting for the software to catch up to my mind/what I want to do next.

Thanks Kory. I'm observing this issue in the Create Feature Class tool, Page 2/6 which is where you create fields. So, not exactly the same as the "fields view" bug, but closely related. I'll try the work around. Thanks again.

In ArcGIS Pro, if you try to create a field name with a length of more than 32 characters (say by importing an existing Feature Class as a template) the tool gives a red box error indicator, and the hover text states: A field name cannot exceed 32 characters That's great, except the official ArcGIS Pro specs on File Geodatabases says that a field name length can be up to 64 characters long: File name length - 64 characters I can confirm that it's possible to have file geodatabase field names longer than 32 characters as I have a file geodatabase that has a feature class with a 36 character field name which was generated using the ArcGIS Python API from a spatially enabled dataframe: My question is why is there a disagreement here between the actual specs and the software? Is this just an oversight? It seems like it is, otherwise the spec should say the limit is 32 characters. If it is an oversight, can we get the ArcGIS Pro team to include this in a future update patch?

@TaylorCarnell1 - Thats'a great point. Regular layer masking allows you to block specific individual layers, but labeling weights on a layer blocks labels from all layers. These are diametrically opposed solutions. @WendyHarrison - While the solution you proposed worked for my narrow case, the proposed solution for labeling doesn't allow for blocking of labels by specific layers. The idea proposed is to go to the layer being labeled and designate specific layers that will mask the labels, just like how layer masking works under the Appearance ribbon. This idea should be re-opened.
