Oh, I am certainly not familiar enough with AppStudio to help. I just googled to find that link with the instructions. I am currently taking the Esri MOOC on Geo-Apps and am currently on the lesson of using AppStudio for the first time. I plan on finishing that segment on Monday. Maybe after that I will be more familiar with this stuff... Though, we'll see! I will check back on this thread then.

It looks like Esri has a few samples that you can use. This site explains how to get to these samples: Download samples—AppStudio for ArcGIS (Desktop Edition) | ArcGIS Open AppStudio on the desktop. Sign in with your global account credentials. Choose Search. Under the Groups heading, choose Sample Apps.

One thing you could do is add another field that would show the DMS and then make labels off of this. I found this blog post that mentions using the Convert Coordinate Notation geoprocessing tool to do this: Converting and Displaying Coordinates in ArcGIS 10 | ArcGIS Blog

Where are you wanting to see Degrees Minutes Seconds? In ArcMap, you can go into the Data Frame properties (right click on Layers and go to Properties) and under the General tab, you can change your Map units to whatever is needed.

Well, this happens occasionally on a busy server. Sometimes if you just wait, the layer will then respond. Sometimes I feel that the server might need resetting or the service might need restarting. There are a lot of 'testing' actions needed to be done with story maps, you'll find, but that's the joy of ArcGIS Online!

So the question is, how long will ArcMap be around? Would it be safe to assume that 10.4 will likely be the last version of ArcMap? And then Pro will just take over from there?

Layer files are one way to go but you can also directly copy and paste your layers from one mxd to another mxd. This will keep all the symbology plus it will keep label preferences, scale dependencies, and other such properties. I sometimes keep a "master" mxd where I keep all sorts of different layers with specified symbol properties, label properties, scale dependencies, etc.

Rupert, could something like this be custom programmed by getting into the Javascript behind this application? Or is that not really a good solution. I know that would not be the approach that Kory wants to go due to who is 'allowed' to do this kind of programming, but it may still be a solution. Hi Kory!

I'll second TortoiseSVN. It's nice because it's free, even for corporate use (open source). They even have like a tutorial or how-to-use part of their site that helps you get started: https://tortoisesvn.net/docs/nightly/TortoiseSVN_en/ There are also videos and such on YouTube, like: Tortoise SVN Tutorial - YouTube

Not really GIS related but I have used Irfanview in the past for dealing with image conversions. It seems to work greatly. Check it out: IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide

From working in a state agency, people are starting to really love the Map Journal template. It's basically a souped up powerpoint that adds a dynamic mapping component. I would highly suggest using that since all the decision-makers I have seen really appreciated how simple it is to use and how the link can be shareable. Story Map Journal | Story Maps

It's tough with the class being large and with this geonet missing forums and such. Sometimes that will happen to me and I will simply bump the thread back to the top in order for it to be seen again. I have had weird issues with online content that were solved by me simply clearing my cache and things like that. I don't always like to clear my cache and browser history so sometimes I would check to see if the content worked in another browser. If it did, I went back to my preferred browser, cleared cache or web history, and then usually things worked again.

I would suggest just making one layer that is editable to the public (or to your group - that may be better), to where all of your students can edit that one layer. If each student made their own layer, then that will get crazy in the table of contents and not desirable. Here is a document on making a layer editable Edit features—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS Oh, and here's an article on how to share your feature service with everyone: Share items—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS

Sorry for responding so late. I presume you tried asking in the course itself about this issue? I also presume that you have not heard back from anyone as well... I guess with 8,000+ students they may be getting 100s of questions and it is likely hard to answer them all. In any case, I am curious to know if you have found a solution to the issue you're seeing.
