thanks Mark, tried the if statement and the field is still being populated with 0. This field just doesn't want to be NULL!

Thanks Jonathan! I was just about to post a different question for what I think is exactly what you mentioned .... when we reopen a survey, data in the first repeat gets reset back to nothing.

In the following screenshot, the fields 5 & 6 are calculated based on data in fields 1-4. The whole group (fields1-6) is relevant as to whether or not a sample is collected. But, when no sample is collected, the calculated fields are returning 0.00. I would like them to be blank. Is there a way to control (cancel) the calculation when the relevant expression is not met?

Sorry to bug you Ismael Chivite and James Tedrick, but I'm getting nowhere fast in my efforts to publish this survey. Can you please take another look at my comments and the information that I've provided. Thanks much! Lynn

SITEID is a text field. It is the unique location code for our sampling sites (e.g. BC_25.97). We need relationships built on SITEID between the sites and the various tables which hold the various types of data collected at each site (field parameters, bacteria, macroinvertebrates etc.). A Global ID/GUID will not work for these relationships. I'm just not clear on why SITEID is being flagged at all. The relationship class between the Bacteria Batch table and the Bacteria Samples table is built on a GlobalID/GUID. When I updated the XLS form, I removed all fields related to the sample_sites points (including SITEID) and changed the form_ID to the BacteriaBatch table. Yes, there is still a SITEID field in the BacteriaSamples repeat, but that shouldn't matter. We have a survey published that's populating the FieldParameters table, which was also created from the existing feature service....and it doesn't get hung up on SITEID.

Thank you Ismael Chivite and Philip Wilson for your help on this. Ismael, I am pretty sure that I've already completed the steps that you outlined, haven't I?: Here are my tweaks to the XLS to include Batch in the survey: delete all fields related to Sample Sites replace them with my Bacteria Batch fields keep Bacteria Samples fields in the repeat change the form_id to pweng.SLCOEN.BacteriaBatch. As for the GlobalID/GUID relationship, I thought we had that covered as well. BacteriaBatch has a GlobalID field, and BacteriaSamples has a GUID field named PARENTGLOBALID. The BacteriaBatchHasSamples relationship class is built on these fields. I don't understand why the publishing error is flagging the SITEID field, because that field isn't involved in the relationship between the two tables. Unless it somehow "remembers" that the BacteriaSamples fields were originally in a repeat based on SITEID (when I created the survey from the existing feature service). Here are links to my XLS forms: the original survey that was created from the existing feature service (unedited, I saved it for reference) the modifed Bacteria Batch SDE survey that I am trying (unsuccessfully) to publish Hopefully these will provide additional relevant information. Thanks! Lynn

Our current workflow for data entered in the field is to "send later", and then send all from the outbox when back in the office. We're testing a new survey which includes a count limit on a repeat (8 records only). We just discovered that when the survey is opened up from the outbox and edited, all fields for the first record in the repeat are blank. Data for all subsequent records (2 thru 😎 is still there and editable. My fix for now? Delete the number in the repeat_count column in the XLS form. Is this a bug? We're using Survey123 Connect v2.6.6 and ios app v3.0.132. I could not duplicate the problem in the desktop version of Survey123.

Hi Ismael, That worked! This gives me a simple list (eg. ABCDE) which works just fine in this case since the transect ID's are a single letter. For future reference, is there a way to add other characters (spaces, commas, etc.) between the values to make the list more legible? If these were anything other than a single digit, this wouldn't really work. Thanks! Lynn

Any chance this functionality has been added? I would like to add a note with a label that says "Transects entered thus far:", and a calculation that would simply list them separated by spaces. E.g. Transects entered thus far: A B D E G J K Fingers crossed. Thanks, Lynn

Hello, I am attempting to tweak the XLS form fields created from an existing feature service in order to populate two tables, but it isn't working. I think I understand why but not how to fix the problem...or even if what I'm trying to do is possible. Here's the basic structure of my data in SDE: Sample Sites (point data) ==> Related Table: Bacteria Samples [1:M, SiteHasSamples, related on SITEID fields] Bacteria Batch (table) ==> Related Table: Bacteria Samples [1:M, BatchHasSamples, related on GlobalID/ParentGlobalID fields] What I want is a survey that populates the Bacteria Batch & Bacteria Samples tables only. But, since the Batch table is not related to SampleSites, it does not get included in the XLS form created from the existing feature service. Here are my tweaks to the XLS to include Batch in the survey: delete all fields related to Sample Sites replace them with my Bacteria Batch fields keeping Bacteria Samples as a repeat change the form_id to pweng.SLCOEN.BacteriaBatch. But it's not working. I've been working my way through each error that the survey snags on when trying to publish it in Survey123 Connect (v2.6.6). Here's the current error: I assume this is because I kept the samples fields in a repeat, and it thinks the repeat should be based on SITEID, but it's not anymore. As previously mentioned, I think I understand the problem but not how to fix it...or even if what I'm trying to do is possible. I really, really want to figure out how to make this survey work. The fallback option would be to have 2 separate surveys and then manually copy in the unique BATCHID to each sample processed in the batch. Not horrible, but definitely not ideal. Please help!!! Thanks, Lynn p.s. More screenshots for context:

We have a FieldParameters survey that was created from an existing feature service on Portal (behind the firewall). The survey is populating a related table only and has photo attachments. When I look at the data in Catalog I can see the FieldParameters table, the FieldParameters_ATTACH photos table, and the relationship class that was created by Survey123: What has me concerned is that when I open the FieldParameters table in ArcMap, and then click on the "Related Tables" button, FieldParameters_ATTACH is not in the list. And it should be, since there's a relationship class. I have to create a relate on-the fly to check my photo attachments.

Is it possible to open an excel sheet from within a survey, to do some quick calcuations needed to answer one of the questions? And then have a field in the spreadsheet populate a field in the survey?? Specifically, we have a simple streamflow calculator , and Avg Flow (CFS) is what we want answered in the survey. Just wondering.... Thanks! Lynn
