What are you spatial joining to? Is that an independent step in your process because you need the join regardless (and it just so happens you can field map it too), or are you joining specifically to resolve the field change issues?

Yes. And Pro takes forever if you run the delete fields tool on all of the geocoder fields added when geocoding in Pro (I'm using streetmap locator). It's faster to make a feature layer and change the visibility to 'hidden' for all of the geocoder fields. But the worst part is renaming my fields back to what they should be, without the "user" prefix. I have this set up in modelbuilder, and the 'alter field' tool configuration only allows one field modification at a time. So I have a huge model just to clean up the fields that the geocoder messed with.

I used this daily in ArcMap to color match layout text with client logos. The logo is on the layout as an image and the color dropper is used to match.

I appreciate that pro will use my hardware to the max. Just when geocoding, my CPU will ramp to 99% usage and I'm unable to use outlook, chrome, etc. Better than ArcMap. But, I definitely agree that an easy interface to set the Pro processing environment would be well received. Does changing the parallel processing factor help you? Susan Gidley, I connected through ArcMap ODBC connection. ArcGIS Pro doesn't have this functionality yet. I made an ArcGIS idea for it since we use Vertica: https://community.esri.com/ideas/16027

Suggested modelbuilder enhancement for an environment or input setting to limit records or features of an input. Other modeling/ETL tools have this "record limit" option for building out and testing models. The default is blank so that all records are read in, and you would optionally insert a value such as first 1,000 or first 10. If I have hundred of thousands of records/features in an input, I only want to send the first 'X' records to ensure I have the proper tools strung together and am receiving the expected output. If I run the model with the full data set, I may have to wait hours to verify if I'm evening using the right GP tools in the model. Yes, you could add a select by attribute and come up with your own expression to limit based on a criteria. But sometimes a simple criteria doesn't exist or it becomes inefficient to create one. Adding this as a feature to input data or environment setting would greatly improve efficiency and usability. Here is an example for single input limiter, and example for whole environment limiter for all inputs:

This problem still exists in Pro Modelbuilder model execution. The scroll bar hops up and down irregularly. When you scroll it down to the bottom, it will only stay there for a second or two and move back to the middle or top of the execution window. I sent a video of the behavior to esri, they said they are working on improving the design of the progress window.

Separate from the current feature that opens the new map session where the last one left off? That includes layer visibility...but that might not be enough for your purposes.

I can echo it was a headache when myesri was used to convert named user to single use for Pro by support, because then support was still going to arcgis online to try and authorize the streetmap premium extension for Pro and download the StreetMap .mpk files for Pro, both of which were locked out because arcgis said I didn't have a pro license. So the "licensing team" had to hand the case off to the "Pro team" because they didn't understand the issue. Resolution, several days later, was to also convert streetmap premium extension for pro to single use as well, then manually type it in as an extension since it's not listed as a Pro extension. Lastly, you had to go download the StreetMap .mpk's from myesri instead of arcgis online since arcgis says I dont have a pro license. Perhaps if the error messages in AGO gave more description, that would have helped. The process was very circular, back and forth. Hope this helps the next person. Also, I have asked 4 people at esri the difference between the streetmap .mpk's for Pro versus just using the streetmap FGDB in pro, and they haven't been able to answer clearly...but I digress...

Marco Boeringa I appreciate the insight. I will look in to it, however I'm not much for programming workarounds. I wonder what the level of effort is for esri to be add databases as a supported type for connections? Databases types/companies continue to evolve with technology, so it would make sense that their supported databases continues to evolve and increase. You see this from companies like Tableau and Alteryx. Tableau at first only support shapefiles, then another release they supported zipped file geodatabases as well, and now in an upcoming 2019 release they support direct connect to file geodatabases without zipping. Alteryx supported shapefiles, then personal geodatabases, and now file geodatabases. Not exactly the same as enterprise databases like Vertica, but similar concept of evolution.

Vertica is not a supported database by esri. Best scenario is for esri to add Vertica as a supported database. Secondary option is to allow OLE DB connections in Pro. Per esri support, there is no way to connect to Vertica in ArcGIS Pro. ArcMap can only connect via an OLE DB option, which is also not available in Pro. There is a similar idea in "ideas", except that is for Access and personal geodatabases. This is specific to Vertica.

Kory Kramer I came across this because Pro keeps crashing 10-15 times the last 2 days. So, seems like we are SOL unless there is some sort of "project doctor" or inspector to review the project and see why it keeps crashing. Each time, it prompts me to send an error report to esri, which I do, and it "sends a large file"...but those just go in to a black hole?

Also, I do not need any sort of geometry output, so I presume setting the output shape to "none" will improve the speed even more so.

Jay Sandhu Thanks for the reply. It sounds like the fastest method to find the 1 nearest facility is OD matrix with a cutoff of 60 minutes AND destinations to find = 1? The documentation does not explicitly state that the 'number of destinations' setting is directly tied to facility proximity, so I was not sure that limiting to 1 will guarantee the closest facility as found. That is the reason I was thinking I needed to run for all then find the minimum cost record for each origin. If an origin does not end up having 1 facility within the cutoff, is the origin still included in the OD output with a null destination, or does the output exclude any origin without a destination found?
