I tested the "suggestions for partial subadresses" option in Pro 2.9 beta. It works exactly as its name implies. It is definitely an improvement, but also not quite what I anticipated. You must enter some part of the unit number in order to get a suggestion with a unit number. That means you can enter the full base address for an apartment building (e.g. "123 Main St"), but you still won't see any subaddress suggestions until you enter the first character of a unit number. In my ideal world, if I entered "123 Main" into the search, I would like to see a list of suggestions like the below. As is, I only see the first suggestion on the list. 123 Main St 123 Main St Unit 1A 123 Main St Unit 1B 123 Main St Unit 2A 123 Main St Unit 2B

Hi @BonnieCecil . @RandallWilliams sent me a list of file extension exceptions that are need if you want to run Portal with "allow unlisted file extensions" disabled. That was a bit overkill for my purpose. I'm just running stand-alone ArcGIS Server. All I really needed was to add "." for the extensionless requests and ".css" so the REST service directly displayed correctly. Later I had to add a few more exceptions due to outputs from print services (e.g. ".pdf", ".png", ".svg", ".jpg", etc). That was about it for me. I won't swear that is comprehensive, but it's been working in production for us for a few months.

@JoeBorgione Thanks for your reply. I read the post you suggested, and I'm looking forward to the upcoming enhancements related to subaddress suggestions and searches described by @ShanaBritt. But here I'm talking about the REST reverse geocode operation and its ability to return subaddress results. It's not working for me. For example, here I'm using findAddressCandidates to return an address point with subaddress info: https://gisweb.columbus.gov/arctest/rest/services/Locators/OneViewComposite/GeocodeServer/findAddressCandidates?SingleLine=112+W+LANE+AVE+APT+3B&outFields=*&f=pjson If I take the X/Y coordinates from that response and feed them back into the reverseGeocode operation of the same geocode service, I'd expect to get the same address point back as the top result. But I don't. The reverse geocode operation returns an address point result that is actually farther away than the one I want: https://gisweb.columbus.gov/arctest/rest/services/Locators/OneViewComposite/GeocodeServer/reverseGeocode?location=-9240889.0806487892%2C4866880.7828468094&f=pjson I've experimented with the featureTypes property in my request, but no luck with that so far.

Hi All. I created a locator in Pro 2.8.3 and published it as a geocode service to ArcGIS Server 10.7.1. The locator includes the Point Address and Street Address roles. I cannot get the REST reverse geocode operation to return a subaddress result. I submit an x/y I know is on an address point with subaddress info (i.e. unit type and number) but instead of returning that record it returns an address point farther away that does not have any subaddress info associated with it. Anyone know if this is expected behavior? Or do I have a configuration problem? Thanks in advance!

I found updating to 10.8.1 made no difference for the problem in my original post. I did not try 10.9. However, I did get intersection results to return as expected at 10.7.1 by specifying either a location and search distance or a spatial extent for the search in my request. Maybe Pro does that under the hood.

Thanks for the reply. I removed the ArcGIS World Geocoder from the widget config. Only my custom geocode service is included.

I created a locator in Pro 2.8 using "Create Locator". The locator includes both a point address and street address role. It works great in Pro searching for an intersection, as shown in this example: The results are different when the locator is published as a geocode service to a stand-alone 10.7.1 ArcGIS Server site. For illustration purposes I configured the geocode service in the search widget of a Web AppBuilder app. The same search criteria don't return an intersection result there: However, if I included the street type as shown below I get the desired result: Any ideas why? Is this a configuration issue or just something that isn't supported when publishing locators from Pro? This has always worked fine for me publishing composite locators from ArcMap to ArcGIS Server. Thanks very much in advance.

@RandallWilliams thank you for the list of file name extensions and all your help so far. Unfortunately adding your list of allowed file types did not resolve my problem where GIS services (e.g. map, feature, etc.) are not working with "allow unlisted file name extensions" disabled in IIS. I think it's because many of the requests to a GIS service don't really have a file extension. Here is an example: https://gisweb.columbus.gov/arctest/rest/info?f=json Does anyone know if "extensionless" requests like that are blocked when unlisted file types are disallowed? If so, is there a solution? I've seen suggestions online to include a wildcard ("*") as one of the allowed file types, but to me that would defeat the purpose of disabling the setting in the first place.

Does Esri maintain a list of file name extensions that must be allowed in order for GIS services (e.g. map, feature, geocode, etc.) to function properly? My organization now requires certain IIS hardening settings to improve security. One requirement is to disable "allow unlisted file name extensions" under request filtering in IIS manager. Unfortunately that breaks all our GIS services. My hope is that adding additional file name extensions to what is already allowed will fix the problem. Any advice?

Sorry to dig up this old thread, but how do you request the list of allowed file extensions? Via support? Also has the "ArcGIS Enterprise hardening guidance document" mentioned above been published?

Thanks for the quick reply. I believe the locator is single role. Here are some details about it: It does seem to work as expected prior to publication. I can add the locator to my Pro project and find addresses without the city, state, or ZIP entered as part of the search criteria.

I used the "create locator" GP tool in Pro 2.7 to create a locator. After it was created I modified the geocoding options to allow "match with no zones" and then published the locator to a stand-alone ArcGIS Server (v10.6.1). All that worked fairly well, except I still have to include a zone in the search criteria to get a match. For example, I can't just search "90 W Broad St". I have to search "90 W Broad St, Columbus, OH". This is my first attempt creating and publishing a locator from Pro. I've always used ArcMap and had no problem with this. Anyone with a similar experience or advice?
