Suggest you look into the .mapx format. It provided a way to import Map Templates (in our case containing our agencies standard base map) that is independent of Project files or ArcGIS Online organization membership. The solutions described work if you are (1) have ArcMap installed on the machine and (2) are an expert ArcGIS Desktop user that has full knowledge of how the disk folders are arranged within the ArcGIS Desktop install folder at C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\Desktop10.7\Styles or similar.  None of which are good assumptions as we move forward into the world of virtual desktops and Pro only.   ESRI should take a few minutes and just convert all the 2D styles to the new stylex format and include them with the application as an optional install or deliver them through a AGOL connection along with a custom style picker  tool that could be a 'add-on'  button to the Layout Ribbon. ... If you actually have a single use license then the License Manager application is NOT required on the machine. You would just run the 'authorization' with license code step during the ArcGIS Desktop installation or after install by: On your computer go to Start | Programs | ArcGIS | ArcGIS Administrator to begin the single use registration process. Select the Desktop folder in the tree view, found in the left navigation area of the ArcGIS Administrator window. Select the Basic (ArcView) Single Use radio button. The “Authorize Now” button will become enabled. Click the Authorize now button. This will open up the Software Authorization Wizard. Select the ‘I have installed my software and need to authorize it” radio button. Select the Authorize with ESRI now using the Internet radio button. Click Next to continue. Fill in the Authorization Information. Use the information for the end user (the person who will actually be using the software). Click Next to continue. I  would think your a join will only appear if they are created in relation to maps in the project  - If you run a tool and then select the data sources from the 'current' map.  We could build and run a model in Pro that  creates a join as a step in a model that uses data sets directly (e.g., c:\temp\myshapefile.shp) that are not in the current project and these joins would only exist in the context of the model.  ... We have built a C# application we have named ArcGIS Pro License Manager that allows the user to select their license level and extensions, these are saved just prior to ArcGIS Pro being launched. Since you are talking ArcMap there are two things you should try: 1. Delete your Normal.mxt file at C:\Users\<your user id>\AppData\Roaming\ESRI\Desktop10.7\ArcMap\Templates replace 10.7 with your version. Since you downgraded delete the 10.8 folder you may find at the above location as well. 2. Have a different user login to your computer with a different user id and see if they have the same issue with your map.  If their account works and yours does not, that means your Windows 10 Profile is corrupt on the machine. ...
