ArcPad itself is a standalone product, there??s no ??compatibility?? needed between it and ArcMap. The only component that is related to ArcMap is the ArcPad Data Manager, and only the ArcPad 10 Data Manager will install correctly with ArcGIS 10. If you are not working within ArcMap 10 and ArcPad 10, when using the ArcPad Data Manager you will not be able to take advantage of its functionalities when using an older version of ArcPad. You are able to check out your data to a network location, and then transfer the data from the network onto the mobile device. Then when you are ready to check in the data, you are able to transfer the data from the device onto the network location and override those files. Then you can check in the files that were updated from the network, and check them in locally. Any further questions, you can always reach out to us at Support Service. http://support.esri.com

* Check out your vector data and create a apm, and then follow the steps below to export the ETopo to a geotiff format. If you want to have the raster show up and be quicker within ArcPad, create a geotiff, from below. -Bring the ETopo into a map document -Saved map -File/Export Map -Specify type as tiff, check write world file under general tab and Write geotiff tags under the format tab -Add reference data to ArcPad document -Add geotiff raster to ArcPad This geotiff loads much quicker than the point feature class with 130k points. Using existing data http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcpad/10.0/help/index.html#//00s10000006t000000.htm Raster layers All raster layers must have either a world file or AUX file, with the exception of geotiff and ETopo images. When adding a raster layer to an ArcPad map, ArcPad first looks in the image header for the georeferencing information, then in the associated .aux (if present), then within an associated world file (if present). **Please contact Esri Support for assistance and be sure to indicate "If you are current in ArcPad maintenance, please submit.
