Troubles with 'ETopo' raster data in ArcPad

Attempting to import an 'ETopo' brand map to ArcPad as a raster (original product is on CD)  ArcCatalogue sees both the .PNG & .MAP files, but can only open the .PNG.  ArcPad only sees the .PNG.

My problem is that the Topo I need to use is georeferenced (the projection and coordinate information in accompanying .AUX file is corrected) but ArcPad does not display the Topo map in the correct area.  That is, it dumps in the Topo the far bottom right, similar to when a raster layer in ArcMap is not georeferenced.  I have other layers I want to put over the Topo, but they do not match up in ArcPad (the other layers are accurate in projection, etc).

Any suggestions???

Much appreciated,

Blake

* Check out your vector data and create a apm, and then follow the steps below to export the ETopo to a geotiff format.

If you want to have the raster show up and be quicker within ArcPad, create a geotiff, from below.

-Bring the ETopo into a map document
-Saved map
-File/Export Map
-Specify type as tiff, check write world file under general tab and Write geotiff tags under the format tab
-Add reference data to ArcPad document
-Add geotiff raster to ArcPad

This geotiff loads much quicker than the point feature class with 130k points.

Using existing data

Raster layers

All raster layers must have either a world file or AUX file, with the exception of geotiff and ETopo images. When adding a raster layer to an ArcPad map, ArcPad first looks in the image header for the georeferencing information, then in the associated .aux (if present), then within an associated world file (if present).
