David, I would say there is not, since you are packaging a published map. The two work together and go hand-and-hand together. This is why the options within the packaging exist, in order to pull in the data from its source, and then allow you to save it where you??d like to save it and in the format of choice. Gracias!

Al, Out of the box for ArcMap currently there is no option to do this, arcpy doesn??t have access to the publisher extension which is required for creating a pmf from a mxd. I would suggest posting this on our Ideas site, where our developers visit quit often. Gracias! ArcGIS Ideas http://ideas.arcgis.com/ideaHome?c=09a300000004xET

Carlos, What happens if you walk through following items, please let us know if they do not resolve your current issue. Gracias! * Have a second user log into your computer with their credentials, they do not need to work within ArcMap. -Then walk through your same work flow of creating a PMF and Package * Rename your ESRI folder within the registry - Navigate to Start > Run, type regedit and click OK. Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER> Software > right-click on Esri and select rename to ESRI_old. Close the Registry Editor.

Katherine, I wanted to follow-up to your recent post, I wanted to see if you were still encountering these issues. Have you looked into upgrading to ArcPad 10.0.4, which is our latest version of ArcPad. This does not sound like average issue that we encounter within support, but I would suggest logging a incident with us and you can reference me within the webform if you??d like. We will be happy to work with you and troubleshoot this issue here, within Support Service. Gracias! This can be accomplished through the Map Object. Customizing ArcPad Help > ArcPad XML Reference > LAYER and related elements > LAYER Example: <ArcPad> <MAP name="scale_test"> <PROPERTIES /> <LAYER name="ArcPad_Project.sid" minscale="1:4000" maxscale="1:7500" refscale="1:7159" quickcapture="true" quickcapturelabel="Capture ArcPad_Project.sid" quickdraw="1" /> </MAP> </ARCPAD> NOTE: The minscale and maxscale attribute values specified for a layer in an ArcPad map file (*.apm) override the minscale and maxscale attribute values specified for that layer in its layer file (*.apl).

If you changed the name of the feature class, and then attempted to check in the data but it not worked. This would mean the .axf file initially created from the original feature class, needs to be the same upon check out. Now you went back and changed the name of the feature class back to the original name, then attempted to re-check in the data then it may think the data has already been checked in. I would suggest the following work flow to save the data which has been collected, within ArcPad Studio. arcpadstudio 1. Open arcpadstudio 2. Navigate to axf file 3. Open axf file 4. Right click on feature layer 5. Export to shapefile ArcMap 1. Open mxd file with feature class 2. Add shapefile that was created out of arcpadstudio 3. Make only shapefile selectable 4. Begin a Edit session 5. Open attribute table for shapefile 6. Select all records 7. Edit pull down 8. Copy 9. Edit pull down 10. Paste 11. You should be prompted to paste records into Feature class (Ok) 12. Editor 13. Stop and Save Edits

I am including the check out/in work flow for ArcPad in case you feel that it was different in the previous versions of ArcPad that you worked in. this should give you a step-by-step work flow to take your data out, and make edits in the field and check them back into your database. HowTo: Check Out/In data from ArcMap to ArcPad for editing http://support.esri.com/en/knowledgebase/techarticles/detail/32862 If after walking through these steps and you are having issues with simply just checking out the data, maybe ArcMap crashes. I would suggest isolating out the layer which may be causing the crash, and then investigate it further. I would look at domains, subtypes etc. verify all the coded values are correct within the domains, most of the time this will be the cause. One last suggestion I would make, in the check out process you have a panel where you will name the folder, .apm etc. please verify the option for ??Validate feature classes before checking out? this will fire an error of the feature and domain that will need to be addressed.
