Hi Kate, I made some progress. I added the municipal boundary to each web map, and disabled the municipal layer pop-up in each. There is also the option in the app config tool (Options tab) to not display the pop-up of a non-editable layer, which I think will do the same thing, but globally. I noticed if I click on an existing report, the app does not open the record. I have to click on the records until I find the report previously entered to see the content. Frustrating. I think I have this app functioning well enough to test with some users. There are still some config settings I need to figure out, and I need to configure the Manager now. Regards, Jay

Hi Kate, I was slightly wrong in testing of the municipal boundary feature service as per my earlier email. I added the service to the Water/Sewer Problem web map again. I entered the service name in the config field. Then in the web map app, I tried to submit a report outside of the city limit’s and I got the message I cannot add the feature. So I think this is a way to use this field. I will now add the same feature service to the other web maps and test. Regards, Jay

Hi Kate, I will keep trying to figure it out, and maybe someone seeing our discussion will have an answer as well. I did create another CrowdSource app several months ago, and managed to get my city municipal boundary layer (as an uneditable polygon layer) established in it. How I did this I do not remember! I added the boundary feature service to the only Web map I had in this app, added the name of the service in the config field, and this seemed to work. If I clicked on a location outside of the boundary, I received a message saying the ‘feature cannot be added outside of study area,’ so I did manage to get it to work. I thought I had some notes written on what I did, but alas I am not finding anything. With the current Citizen Problem Reporter app, I am including four of the available web maps (Water/Sewer Problems, Road Problems, Trash Problems and Snow/Ice Problems). I am using the feature layers as is, no changes to fields or domains for now. I added the municipal boundary to the Water/Sewer web map, but it only shows in the app when that Problem tab is selected. And then it does not prevent me from adding a point outside of the city boundary. I hope we don’t want to have to add the city boundary to every web map used. Also, do you know how the various Citizen Problem Reporter web maps are included in the app? I thought maybe there was a list in the Reporter config tool where one simply selects the web maps to include? For now, I manage the maps by adjusting the sharing property. Web maps are shared to Everyone, but the app and feature layers are Group shared. The web maps I am not using are shared to the Organization, and therefore do not show in the app. We should not have to spend hours or a month trying to figure out how to develop and configure these wonderful Esri Solutions. Esri’s online help is great, but we could use more “user example” instructions, e.g., what exactly is entered into the “Name of the uneditable polygon layer” field in the Form tab of the config tool. I tried adding a simple feature layer name and the full URL to the service, nope. Thanks for your reply, I intend to review your FAQs again. Sincerely, Jay

Hi Kate, Very useful information thank you. I too have been trying to get this particular solution working too for quite some time, and just found your FAQ note. I figured out that the web maps have to be shared to Everyone. The web map app and the hosted feature layers only need to be Group shared. If there are web maps I don't want to see in the app, for example, Blight Problems, I changed the sharing to Organization. I am trying to add a layer that represents my city municipal boundary, in the field 'Name of an uneditable polygon layer' on the Form tab of the configure tool, but no luck, and this is where I need help. Have you tried this? I was hoping to restrict the reports to within city limits. Many thanks! Regards, Jay

I have been learning\working with the Local Government Public Parking solution using ArcGIS Pro. After much trial and error, and some GeoNet help on updating domains, I managed to populate the various feature layers provided with the solution. I also added a few other feature layers I want to show on the web map and app. I then shared/published the public parking web map from Pro. When I open the web map in ArcGIS Online, I receive 'error...layer cannot be added to map' messages. I noticed that all of the layers are listed in the 'web map' item Overview tab in AGOL. In the 'hosted feature' item Overview, the other layers I added are in the list but the solution layers are not listed. If I go to the web map Overview tab, and click on a layer to open the REST feature service, I get a 'token required' message for each of the solution layers, but not for the other layers. I am not sure what this means or what I need to do to clear this so the layers of the web map will all load and I can continue on to the web appbuilder step. Thanks.

Allison, I tried the spin/run step as you indicated. No change. I did have to restart Pro, and when I did that, the domain changes were there. Not ideal, but it worked. Thanks for your help, Jay

Hi Allison, thank you for the reply. I was able to update the Code and Description of the domain as per your great instructions! However, when I add a point feature in the 'on street meter parking' feature class in Pro, the 'operational hours' field domain still shows the original coded-value choices. I don't see the changes I made in the drop down list. So I still have a disconnect in my understanding of how this whole process works. Is there any online or similar resource that takes a much more hands-on, deeper dive into the use of the Solutions Tool other than the: Get started overview - Public Parking | ArcGIS for Local Government for new users?

Hi. I am trying to configure the PublicParking LG solution in ArcGIS Pro. I would like to update or replace the domain for the OPERHOURS (Operational Hours) field of the 'On Street Meter Parking' feature class. The current coded values in the domain do not apply to the meter hours we enforce. I was hoping to add to the current drop-down list of choices or replace it. The ArcGIS Solutions Deployment tool implied (Step 3 of the Configure step) I could "configure one, or more, domains used in the feature layer(s) provided with the ArcGIS Solution." I can't figure out the current domain name, assuming I can modify the coded choices. There are other fields with coded value domains on this and the other feature classes, that I would like to update as well, so I am hoping there is a way to do this. I have tried to create new domains with create, add, assign domain tools, but no luck. Many thanks in advance.

Robert, The buying decision occurred before I started working here, so I don’t have any other information on tablets that may have been tested or considered. We do use iOS Apple devices, which work well with Collector, etc. I would fully vet any W10 device you are considering and installing Esri software on. Regards, Jay

Hi Robert, We are using Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Tablets (7202) with Windows 10 OS. They were rather expensive, and therefore you can imagine the angst when Collector (June release I believe) would not work as expected! Through considerable troubleshooting with Esri support, we determined that services coming from different server sources were the issue. When we (re)published the services on the same server, Collector would operate as expected on the Windows 10 tablets. Esri classified the issue as a bug. I have heard nothing further regarding a bug fix for the issue. At the past Esri UC, I spoke with a colleague from a DOT agency in a western US state, who uses a large number of Samsung android tablets, wrapped in gumdrop cases. They were affordable and have worked flawlessly with Collector and the other Esri field apps. Hope this helps, Jay

Hi Micah, Thank you for the great reply! We have more than 430 parking meters, which as used heavily, and six plus municipal parking lots. I don't know if that is a number that puts us in the GeoEvent category (when I think of large cities having 1,000s of meters) or if I can stick with the more traditional approach as you suggest. I have very limited experience with either. I know GeoEvent could be tasked with other real-time data feeds in our local government (e.g., snow plows and public transportation), so I tend to want to make a case for that level of functionality. Thank you again for your reply, Jay

I am seeking ideas/processes/workflows on designing and implementing a real-time parking meter application that shows if a parking meter/spot is vacant or not. And if not, how much time remains on the meter. We have smart parking meters that provide a wireless stream of meter-related information. The meter can sense the presence of a vehicle using RFID sensor technology. I don't have any experience with GeoEvent Server, connectors and alike, but this seems like a reasonable starting point. I envision a web map app that shows parking meter symbology in green, meaning no vehicle parked at that meter location (spot available), yellow, meaning a vehicle is parked at this meter location (spot occupied) but having less than or equal to 10 minutes of time remaining, and red, meaning a vehicle is parked at this meter location (spot occupied) with more than 10 minutes of time on the meter. Or maybe I use 20 minutes as the break point. I would like the app to have pop-ups illustrating meter information (hours, rates, ID, etc.). I have been examining Esri's Public Parking solution which would provide a nice static solution, but I don't know how to take the idea to the real-time level. I would like the application to include gate-controlled parking lots, which compare inbound gate openings to outbound, with the difference indicating available spots (or some similar "accounting" system). Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi. I have a hosted feature layer with a date/time attribute field published from ArcGIS Pro. In the ArcGIS Online web map, if I click to 'Enable Time Animation' on a layer, the features disappear from the map viewer. If I don't click on 'Enable Time Animation' on all layers, the web map app (created in web app builder) displays a message stating 'No time-aware layers are visible.' I don't understand why features disappear when I 'Enable Time Animation,' seems counter-intuitive. I can kind of understand why I see the other message in the web app map. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
