I've got a webmap with a pop up enabled, with a custom attribute display configuration, using a href url call to another mobile app. The idea being a link from the pop up will call the other app with appropriate parameters e.g. appname://?asset=xyz After clicking OK for the pop up config and saving the webmap the link works if I use the webmap immediately in a browser, until I refresh the page. In Explorer for ArcGIS the link fails and it isn't recognised as a hyperlink. When I view the webmap's JSON in ArcGIS Online Assistant the link is getting replaced with "#?asset=xyz" Weirdly enough, if I use the same url in the Pop-up Media config, with an image, the link is retained and works fine. Any idea why appname:// is getting replaced with a '#'? Is there anyway to call a custom app from the Attributes area of a pop up? Explorer for ArcGIS

We have a very similar use case. We got rid of our external server (with clip, zip & ship function) and moved our data to ArcGIS Online and implemented Open Data for our public datasets. However, we also had some data which was restricted access so we setup a new ArcGIS Online group and accounts for a handful of externals to access this data (they're too small to require their own ArcGIS Online sites or have alternative GIS software in house). We assumed level 1 licenses would be fine as the documentation (Use layers—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS ) has no mention of the need for Level 2 licenses! Needing to grant Level 2 licenses for a user to download a shapefile/json/fgdb, once a month or less frequently, is a waste of a license and fairly absurd. It should be a direct download as not everyone wants to use it in an Esri webmap/application and it could be implemented very similar to the way Open Data does it for public layers. An Idea very similar to the improvement suggested is here Download data to computer from item details page - without needing an AGO account - I suggest you add your vote to it. Kelly Gerrow to answer your questions: Can you provide some more information about your workflow? Workflow as above - restricted data held in a group for external users to take an extract for their systems. Unfortunately not everyone is in the realm of mashing up services/sourcing them directly due to technology/security considerations. What is the data? (brief description would be great) Access Tracks (polylines) - some of which are over private land. What is the level 1 user going to do with the data? (use it in ArcGIS Online or download a CSV for other purposes?) Use it outside of Arc products for their own systems. Are your users looking to export the entire dataset or a subset of the data? Both - most want the whole dataset but some would prefer a subset. Could start things off simple with whole dataset downloads and then implement the smarts for extracting subsets.

We have Lines Engineers who use it and AFAIK it can export .dxf and potentially KMZ\KML according to this. We've only managed to get our hands on .dxf's and they're a nightmare due to the complexity. I suspect if you can get a KML it'll be more simplified geometry which might work better. Last bullet point on this page mentions exporting shapefiles for 30+ report but I'm not sure what the reports are (have never used the software). If you manage to find a streamlined process I'd be interested in hearing about it.

We found the same thing, Open Data appears to use the metadata dates rather than the ArcGIS Online last updated dates https://community.esri.com/thread/222598-inconsistency-between-open-data-and-items-views

Josh Jones - is there a roadmap for what features/functions/enhancements Esri is looking at in 2019 for the ArcGIS Maps for Power BI integration? It would be great to know what is being worked on now and what the future direction is.

I'm getting the same error with Pro 2.2.4 - publishing from a local file geodatabase to a federated 10.5.1 Portal with 'Copy all data' selected and no warnings/errors shown when Analyze is run. It seems like it's a fairly generic error which can have multiple causes.

I'm trying to move items between two on premise 10.5.1 Portals and I'm getting an HTTP error when trying to clone a Feature Layer, or Web Maps which reference a Feature Layer. The same code works fine for Web Maps which don't reference feature layers. Specific error is: Error cloning data: ('Failed to create Feature Service p18146_Vegetation_Consents: HTTPError: this service url encountered an HTTP Error: http://fullyqualifieddomainname/arcgis/rest/services/Hosted/p18146_Vegetation_Consents/FeatureServer', <Item title:"p18146_AUP_Global_Vegetation_Consents" type:Feature Layer Collection owner:xyz>) I'm using v1.4.2 of the API and both the source and target server urls are defined as https:// Thanks

We struck the opposite with Portal 10.5.1 and the Edit widget in a Web App. By setting not null i.e. nullable:false and a template with fieldname:null it breaks the Edit widget. The edit widget doesn't show the attribute editing table after creating the feature and the edit fails with the server recording, "0 : ERROR: null value in column "deviceposition" violates not-null constraint ..." If we use the Smart Edit widget it works properly and highlights to users it's a required field which must be entered. The Save button is greyed out until the required field is given a value. By editing the Feature Service via the admin API (thanks Kelly Gerrow) to change the Template fieldname to be nothing (""), this fixes it (the opposite of what Kelly suggested for ArcGIS Online). Before: After:

Hi Lorne, I think the intended workflow would be to setup two groups - one for those who need to only view the content and one for those who need to edit. A bit of a pain for Adminstrators but that seems to be how it's designed. Kelly Gerrow can you confirm? Regards, Mark

This would allow for custom boundaries/points from ArcGIS Online/Portal, brought into Power BI, to be joined with data from Power BI e.g. I've got some BI data related to contractors and I want to show that data relative to the contractors' boundaries on a map within Power BI. I could join the data based on the region/contractor name/a common field to the same field in the ArcGIS Online/Portal layer and map my BI data based on the geographical boundaries. This would save having to create views or alternative methods for connecting to BI sources from within GIS and would allow Power BI users to mashup their own BI maps, adding visual context (spatially) to the data.

On the Open Data tab of ArcGIS Hub the dates for the listed items relate to the Publication Date stored in the metadata rather than the Feature Layer's last updated date: Feature Layer's Metadata: On the Items tab (when logged in) it records the Feature Layer's last updated date. I think this is preferable as I suspect most people don't update the metadata Publication Date every time their data is updated (our Feature Layers are updated weekly via a script): Feature Layer's last Updated date: The same inconsistency applies for the licensing, with one showing a CC-BY image (which is correct) and the other showing 'Custom License'. Any explanation for the differences Graham Hudgins?

Hi John, I'm getting a very similar error when trying to add a user, with a custom role to a Group but have the 'Join organizational groups' option enabled in the custom role. I can add other non-custom users fine. Error is: Number of groups is definitely not an issue, we have 23 in total. Any ideas?

Hi Scott, any indication on when this might be possible? Without this functionality the Power BI integration is fairly limited for our purposes as you have to be working with addresses or 'nationally' defined boundaries. We've got service provider boundaries, sites, office locations etc. we'd love to be able to link to.
