A user has a vanilla PostGIS database, and would like to view the data in Pro, as well as publish tables by reference to Enterprise. Is there a list of best practices / requirements to optimize the experience (both in Pro and from the Enterprise web service standpoint)? For example, what we've seen so far in testing is: integer unique identifier column lowercase field names (or at least geometry column needs lowercase field name. I'm curious if there are other important requirements / best practices. For example, setting a spatial index. Same "best practices" question for publishing the table by reference in Enterprise. At minimum, when traversing the table list in the Catalog pane, how do you make the spatial table icons show up with the spatial type (see screenshot)?

It seems like the vessel traffic data being curated by Esri has stopped at May 2020 - this is for the app, but also data in the Vessel Traffic group. Is this something Esri plans on picking back up again, or should we expect to not have more recent data backfilled?

Certainly, and thank you. Just brainstorming different solutions here. The paging example is great.

Thanks - also seems like if you can get your results in 5 queries or fewer using query.maxRecordCountFactor could also help here. Will that paging work with spatial queries as well? I don't know how "ordering" works when implementing spatial queries.

As a developer implementing a queryFeatures workflow for a feature layer that has not been added to the view, if a query would end up exceeding the max number of features allowed by the service, is it the responsibility of the developer to make subsequent queryFeatures calls to capture all features? That is, does the developer has to write the logic to to look at the "exceededTransferLimit" return value, and make subsquent calls implementing paging? Is there any way to have the SDK to this for you with one function call in the code resulting in however many network calls to get the full list of features? I know that's how it works when you're adding a feature layer to a map - you only have to write map.add(featureLayer) and the SDK just makes however many necessary calls it takes to get the features back. Was hoping this is how queryFeatures works as well, but my preliminary testing seems to indicate that is not the case. Here is a codepen that shows what I'm talking about: https://codepen.io/jaysgregory/pen/dyeKYYy

I'm trying to easily create a data expression that adds an attribute to each feature in a data set, but I'm getting stuck on how to add an attribute to an existing feature without creating a feature from scratch, including all pre-existing attributes. I get an execution error: "key not found - attributes.' In short, do I have to create a brand new feature and manually reference each attribute I need, or is there an easy way to simply add an attribute to an existing feature. var portal = Portal('https://www.arcgis.com/');
var layer = FeatureSetByPortalItem(portal, itemid)
var features=[];
for (var i in layer) {
var newvalue = some logic here
i['attributes']['newattribute'] = newvalue
Push(features,i)
}
return {
geometryType:'',
features:features
}

That works! Thanks! just have to deal with the overhead of importing the python api to access the GeoAccessor 🙂

Indeed, but I'm just working with a vanilla pandas dataframe. The memory workspace is limited to the output of arcpy operations it seems.

I'm curious if arcpy methods that take as input a CSV or text file can accept a file-like object instead, so I don't have to write to disk before invoking. For example, if I have a dataframe df: import pandas as pd
from io import StringIO
import arcpy
s_buff = StringIO()
df.to_csv(s_buff)
arcpy.management.BearingDistanceToLine(s_buff, "memory\\output", "x", 'y', 'd', bearing_field="b") This generates an error: Error in executing tool. s_buff.read(), s_buff.seek(0) also generates errors. I know I could write to a temporary file, but I'd rather not.

Hi @ArnoFiva - I'm more curious about the current (but also planned) MapViewer and SceneViewer capabilities. We are not using any custom JS solutions yet. Currently the MapViewer does not seem to have any purge option available. I work in aviation, so when flights have landed (stopped moving for some time) it would be nice to remove the map clutter, as well as 3D options to allow users to easily view flight traffic.

Seems like out of the box support in AGOL for StreamLayers is somewhat minimal. I'm trying to remove old observation (those that haven't had an update in one minute say). In addition - configured lables show up for both the latest record as well as previous records when zoomed in. AND no support in SceneViewer. Does anyone know if these things are coming shortly, or is most of the sophistication in creating visualizations on StreamLayers limited to custom JavaScript apps - So any of the app builders have better ways to interact with StreamLayers? Thanks!

Thanks - I had not found that part of the documentation. I could not find that folder location - likely my admin might have deleted after install - so all I had to look through was the opt/ArcGIS/server folder. I was able to download the windows installer for Geoevent and unpack the .cab file to get the program though.

Does it exist - because I could not find GeoEventSimulator.exe anywhere in /opt/arcgis/server. If it doesn't exist, how can I get it?
