Agreed. Figured its worth mentioning that there are some ways to simplify this, but it's not implemented across all the apps and there are some bugs, so take it with grain of salt. 1) If you use Mobile Device Management software, like Meraki, you can push the app out with settings preconfigured, like portalURL, in which case the app will know to use the enterprise login, and it will know the org URL, thus greatly simplifying login process - https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/apps/field-mobility/mobile-application-management-and-explorer-for-arcgis/?rmedium=redirect&rsource=blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/2017/08/06/mobile-application-management-and-explorer-for-arcgis. At least with current version of Explorer, there is a bug and this fails, but it might work for Collector or others. 2) Launch links or URL schemes. The idea is to create a shortcut that launches the app with url parameters, such as portalURL, itemID, etc... Again, you can simplify the sign in process. Again, bug with Explorer (supposedly works with windows version), but might work for other apps. Mileage varies but might be worth a try.... Hi. Is this capability available for ArcGIS Online? That is, can I use Meraki or similar to push out our AGOL url with installations of Collector or Explorer? Or is it just for Portal? Thanks.

Hi. I'm looking at deploying Explorer for ArcGIS and these are the instructions I sent for someone to sign in: At the sign in interface choose ‘ArcGIS Online’ Then choose ‘Enterprise Login’ (ignore the initial login form) For organization URL enter ‘xxxxx’ Next choose ‘City of Bellevue’ Now enter your AGOL login. This is your full email and your usual network password. You may be prompted for multi-factor authentication too, so you would need to use the RSA app to get the code and enter it. When you open the map, there are secured map services, and you will be prompted to authenticate. In this form, you will enter your username only (not full email) and your network password. I joked to a colleague that the instructions for signing in are more complicated than the instructions for using the app. Not really a joke - that's a lot of opportunity for someone to mess up. They could choose enterprise rather than AGOL, they could enter their enterprise credentials in the prominent arcgis.com longin form, they can forget the organization url, in the enterprise login they can enter username rather than full email. In the secured service sign in they can use their full email rather than just username. The multi-factor part is an optional part that we implemented of course, but it's becoming more of a standard thing and ESRI should be aware of this. <start rant> Its understood that there are different approaches to authentication, and there are configurations or choices we have made that may be causing some of this confusion, but surely this can be simplified. As it stands its a big problem for casual or infrequent users. </end rant> Now to the practical question. I noticed that Collector app for iOS handles sign in better than Explorer. With Collector, you see a checkbox with the enterprise login that says 'remember this URL'. if that is checked, the next log in is much simplified, allowing the user to skip some of the above steps. With Explorer, I'm seeing the following: On one device, the checkbox is displayed, but checking it has no effect, and the user is continually required to enter the organization url part each time they sign in. On another device, the checkbox does not appear at all. Is this a known bug? It would be great to get this working for Explorer if possible. Thanks

Kelly, do you anticipate enhancements to the api to make this type of accessibility easier for developers to leverage? For example, take accessible map navigation (with tab and arrow keys or + and - for zooming). It works by default. Great if this expanded capability could be enabled without requiring developers to implement it, or at least, make it easy to implement. Likewise for OOB apps like WAB or configurable apps. Thanks

Hi. I'm working on a public facing application and would like to share ESRI World Traffic service in the app. It is classified as subscriber content, meaning that in order to view it one would need a named user account. However, the description states that it can be accessed in the following manner: "Register an application and use your application's credentials". Great - but I'm not clear if that would just allow sharing within my organization or would it allow sharing with anyone? General public? Thanks

After exploring the beta version a bit, it seems to have a lot of potential. Here are a couple initial thoughts\questions: 1) Wondering if the concept of widgets will be part of this as it progresses. For instance in Web AppBuilder builder environment, there are a host of widgets, like legends, layer lists, basemap pickers, draw tool, etc... Not seeing anything like that in the beta. The list of widgets seems to be more generic building blocks (row, column, panel, list), which is cool, but I wouldn't have a clue how to re-create a sophisticated widget, similar to what comes OOB with WAB. 2) I really like the flexibility to position interface elements and to create layouts for desktop and mobile. I do think this asks a lot more of end users, compared to WAB. With that, you could spin up a new app with a nice look and feel and lots of functionality in a matter of minutes. My impression of experience builder is that it seems more complicated and more of a learning curve to become productive with this tool. Thanks

Hi, just joined the beta program and learning about this app. I'm wondering about ADA Accessibility for the app. Is that being built into it as a core feature? I would really encourage esri to take this approach. Web AppBuilder was a great product, but accessibility was pretty much hit or miss, in my experience. Great to hear from someone at esri on this topic. Thanks

I have an existing webmap consuming several services published via our ArcGIS Server instance. These are dynamic map services, and each service has been added to the webmap (meaning I did not add individual layers as feature layers). I have configured popups, arcade expressions, symbology, etc... for most of the layers. Now, for various reasons, I have published the services as hosted feature services to AGOL, and I'd like to modify my webmap to use those hosted services instead of the arcgis server ones, ideally in such a way that I don't have to redo all of the configurations, which would be a large effort. I have access to ArcGIS Online Assistant and GEOJobe admin tools, either of which can be used to switch service urls via search and replace methods. The problems arise in the difference between dynamic map services and hosted feature services: A map service can add all layers like this: ...services/community/MapServer A feature service must add each layer separately like ...services/community/FeatureServer/0 and so on. So, changing the url in the webmap does not work. Looking for thoughts about how to accomplish this with least effort, as there are a lot of configurations and I'd really like to avoid re-creating them via manual method. Also, wondering why ESRI does not have a hosted version of a map service. It's problematic for the above scenario, and also for other reasons. Symbology limitations with feature services, lack of support for grouped layers, etc.... Thanks

It would be useful to have a url parameter for Web AppBuilder whereby you could specify which panel widget to show by default. Like 'layer list' or legend or basemap or filter, etc....
