Thanks for the response Mike. I'm definitely willing to discuss these topics further. The community would benefit from having a roadmap to accompany the "What's New" Page. This should be a little more detailed than the Operations Dashboard Sneak Peek. Thanks, Davin

I was also having issues with the default print service. Even though it says "Esri Default", it wasn't working. So I pasted in an invalid url and clicked save before the message box popped up. Went back into setting and it still said "Esri Default." Saved again and it magically allowed printing from map viewer and web appbuilder, But from hosted content only. Esri print service does not appear to receive the encrypted credentials for non hosted layers. In case it helps, I was testing with a private local feature service accessed from a non SSL IIS with the web adaptor.

ArcGIS Online and the supporting web API's are missing functionalities required for each department in my company. While I'd rather continue integrating the online platform into our business model, I must resolve a list of ongoing issues preventing my company from moving to the next level. I'm looking for opinions on how long it will be, if ever, until functionalities will exist that resolve each of the topics below: Hosted feature service two-way replication with local databases, geodatabases, or tables Organization level management of hosted symbology Layer rendering allowing text to be used for symbols (not picture marker symbols) Symbology for hosted services comprised of multiple Symbol Objects (i.e. simple circle with text in the center, big square with little circle) Smarter and more legible labeling for hosted feature services A single, streamlined version of Esri basemaps for both offline and online data collection Zooming in beyond 1:1,128 in Map Viewer, Collector, and Javascript API even if that means stretching level 19 tiles Dynamic default values for fields in hosted layers or geodatabases across the platform (Expressions for default values that don't need to be coded for each application. Like you can do with ArcPad and with Attribute Assistant) Hosted feature service triggers within the REST API (after insert, on update, on delete...etc. Like Attribute Assistant Add-in) Related feature editing Polygon and lasso selection in Map Viewer Field calculating only selected features in Map Viewer, instead of the all features queried with the simple non-spatial filter (alternatively: set filter to selected features similar to ArcMap's Create Layer from Selected Features) Field calculation for regular users in Map viewer and with Javascript API (within attribute tables or a widget for Web AppBuilder) Efficient editing of features via attribute tables when using Map Viewer and Javascript API Performance improvements that greatly raises Esri's recommended MaxRecordCount of 1000 for editable layers So what do you all think? 1 year...5 years...Never? As the administrator for our organization, am I expecting too much from Esri's commercial off the shelf? Bottom line, I must decide whether to wait for ArcGIS Online and the associated apps to become robust enough for my company needs or dedicate time to identify an alternative strategy.

After stumbling on this REST API Calculate Page (http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/arcgis-rest-api/#/Calculate_Feature_Service_Layer/02r30000029n000000/), I'm curious if there is a sample implementing this call in javascript. For example: User selects features User Clicks Calculate button Field C values are calculated as Field A * Field B for the selected Features. This would be a great work around for the lack of dynamic default values for fields.

Does anyone know of a web app example where popups show a relationship between the feature layer and external data? For instance, connecting editable values in a popup or custom widget to a Google sheet, fusion table, or a SQL Web Service. Adding a new feature triggers external row creation and future updates are possible due to the related field. I'm more comfortable with JavaScript, but really an example in any language would be great! Thanks, Davin

For some silly reason labels only work in offline mode; when users have downloaded the base map and features. Collector reads labeling rules for a layer from a file stored on the device. If only normal maps would cache the config json files and Collector labeled consistently. I Assume that your new web map is missing a step in the overly complicated offline preparation.

I've just published from arcmap to agol and turned on labels from within the map viewer. I then published the basic viewer template app, as well as numerous other templates. When I try to edit a point feature, i do not get the attribute window. Instead I am in edit mode for the features label?! I can resize the label, change color, move it out of the way and then click on the feature to get the editing popup. I found this to occur in numerous web app templates. This includes one created in the webapp Builder (beta). Then I tried basic viewer with a hosted layer published a year ago with similar results. The issue occurred in Chrome, Firefox, and IE. After moving the giant label around it eventually returns to normal, but then I'm unable to click features on the map. So...anyone run into this?

Steve Kocsis, thanks for providing this tool! My hosted service has begun hanging at 1% during sync on a Samsung Tab 3. Oddly, there is no sync errors that I've seen before. The tool is real simple to use. Just created an empty file gdb and pointed to the <ReplicaID>.geodatabase (not the "client_delta_<Unixtimestamp>.geodatabase"). Hopefully they fix this soon. Until then, this worked for me when running ImportXMLWorkspaceDocument alone did not work.

For the life of me I can't figure out how to set up the following layer filters: Any features edited today (ie after 06:00). Any features edited yesterday ( preferably 06:00 to 18:00) Any features edited last work week ( last Monday through Friday) Any new features since Monday All I've found is filters x length of time before or after now. Widgets reporting yesterday's work include today's works if new edits are made in the morning. It would be awesome to have a calendar panel addin/built-in so the user could dynamically filter layers by date range. Until then, am I missing something with relative time definition queries? Thanks Davin Rainbow Treecare

I experience the same issue as the original post. My dozen feature templates are based on a field with a domain of 100+ coded values. In collector for iOS, the drop Down domain list is limited to the coded values found in the feature templates. I cannot change the attribute for this field unless the attribute has a unique symbol. In collector for Android, the drop down list contains all values from the field's domain. The feature receives the default symbol, in my case "Other." I consider this to be working as intended. Luci, I did not read which collector you are seeing domain issues on. Either way, it sounds like you changed symbology based on another field at some point through map viewer. Your changes overwrite the feature layer types and you loose all of your domains assigned to feature template fields. The domains still exist for the fields, but your feature templates have their own domain rules. If you are courageous enough, you can use REST to update the feature service definition so that each "type" inherits the domain for each field. Pain in the rear though. Russ, I have not yet looked at my service to see whether the domains are inherited or not, but how would that explain different results between the device OS? Davin Rainbow Treecare

Yes. The feature template panel is displaying the default symbol for all templates with a comma in the name. For example, "Birch, Species". It must not be wrapping properly in the android collector. I've got an open incident for this at the moment. Davin Rainbow Treecare

Apparently known issue. http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/86140-Wrong-Feature-Template-Order Sort of glad more people are encountering this. Maybe it will be solved quicker. Support closed an incident after logging this - "enhancement: Provide a way to adjust the order of feature types listed for a hosted feature service layer published from ArcGIS Desktop. " I'm not sure how others feel, but I wish someone could outline exactly what the predecessor is for feature types before publishing and when, if ever does this non-alphabetical sort of feature templates occur. The Potential enhancement would just create another step before each final web map. If the user knows where feature types and templates originate, as well as the impacts different domain and subtype combinations have, then each published service doesn't need this extra adjustment. Good luck, doesn't look addressed in 10.2.2 update. Davin

I believe the OP is asking if his users create a point near/within a feature from another service, can attributes be automatically populated in related fields. Short answer is no. Feature templates won't work since there could be potentially hundreds of thousands of tax parcels. Publishing a Geoprocessing service to do this requires ArcGIS server. So does GeoEvent processor. You also can't set spatial SQL queries as default values for fields of hosted feature services. If you are working without Arcgis Server, but have excess credits to consume you could publish every parcel in town as a point feature services with the fields required for data entry. You could set symbology so points change when users change attributes. A Map service and definition queries would help with performance. Good luck, Davin
