Looking for feedback, or recommendations on using ArcGIS Pro in a virtual desktop environment... specifically using the AMD m125 or the Azure NV4as V4 series VMs? As far as I can see there are some significant cost savings related to software licensing when using AMD (NVIDIA charges per-person license fees for virtual GPU use), which seems to translate to much lower per hour cost in Azure and/or lower acquisition cost for new VM hosts. The down side seems to be that AMD only supports portioning out dedicated cores and memory space rather than dynamically allocating GPU cycles as user applications need it. ESRI seems to only discuss NVIDIA options in their documentation and testing, as well as their hardware recommendations.

From looking at a ton of images from Android and iOS devices it does look like they record things a little bit differently. iOS gives you a time stamp in local time + the time zone, Android give you a time stamp in local time and a GPS Date stamp and GPS Date stamp in UTC time... so it's a little more work to get there but it seems like the info is there. It's a shame to throw out the capability entirely just because it takes a little work to get there. Zach Pearo I'd be cautious about relying on EXIF too much... it's trivial to change and not at all persistent.

I believe exportImageWithCompletion just exports the map view... the scale bar and north arrow would be ancillary elements and if you want to include them you'll probably have to add them in yourself after-the-fact. If your MapView and ancillary elements are all embedded in a parent UIView you might look at exporting a UIImage from that view with something like this: https://www.hackingwithswift.com/example-code/media/how-to-render-a-uiview-to-a-uiimage

Hi - we are looking into options for upgrading some cross-platform apps built with Xamarin. Does the newest version of the .NET Runtime use Metal for rendering on iOS or is it still using OpenGL? If not, what is the timeline to get there?

Hmm - I know we've done something similar in the past... essentially creating a single inspection feature class related to multiple parent feature classes. Is it possible you are having issues with the data types in your ID fields not matching up?

Yeah it's only a show stopper if the feature table isn't loaded... which turns out was the larger issue I needed to deal with. I'm mid-way through upgrading a large and (to me anyway) complex app from 10.x to 100.x so the C++ breakpoints are helping me catch all the spots where I missed bits in the initial flurry of finding and replacing.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the docs for AGSFeatureTable fieldForName indicate that the return value is a nullable AGSField, however if I request a field that does not exist it errors with the following: ArcGIS Runtime Error Occurred. Set a breakpoint on C++ exceptions to see the original callstack and context for this error: Error Domain=com.esri.arcgis.runtime.error Code=3017 "The requested field was not found." UserInfo={NSLocalizedFailureReason=platform position is not a field name., NSLocalizedDescription=The requested field was not found., Additional Message=platform position is not a field name.} C++ breakpoint doesn't return anything helpful. Docs here: ArcGIS Runtime SDK for iOS: AGSFeatureTable Class Reference Shouldn't this return NULL if the field isn't found? How should I determine if a given field name exists in an AGSFeatureTable without iterating through every field in AGSFeatureTable.fields?

Yes - took about 10 minutes to fix up the .xib file... well worth it for the performance improvement to map drawing!

After updating to 100.8 it looks like there is now a view called MTKView added to the hierarchy above the MapView. Looks like something related to Metal rendering... anyway it seems that this new view is having the effect of masking or hiding any ancillary views you may have embedded in the MapView. In my case I have a scale bar and floor picker that weren't showing up. I was able to work around this by pulling those items out of the MapView in the XIB hierarchy and positioning them relative to the parent view instead. Guess this isn't so much a question as just noting a change in functionality.

Finally got a chance to flip the switch on 100.8 on a port construction monitoring app... very nice work! Layer rendering is noticeably improved across the board!

Hi Adrian - I think displaying local raster data sources like GeoTiff imagery requires a Standard level license. An application with a Lite license can't show those. I'd suggest you try loading a web vector tile or raster tile baesmap to confirm the map is loading properly.
