Hi Drew You can append both polygons and lines to the parcel fabric. I would only append lines with COGO that you want to keep and then use Build Parcels to build the rest of the lines. To transfer COGO, you can use this script https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-parcel-fabric-blog/migrate-arcmap-cogo-to-pro/ba-p/885059 Hope this helps Christine

My suggestion would be to add an automatic, hidden step at the end that sets everything in the Contents back to how you like it.

Hi Anna Are you using the Append Parcel geoprocessing tool? This tool takes an input fabric and appends it to a target fabric. The standard Append tool will append features from an input feature class to a target feature class. The target feature class can be in a parcel fabric. The Append tool is used for data migration: Migrate in polygons and then build parcels.

Hi Have a look at the Access versioning commands section in this help topic. Once you have the Versioning ribbon available, you will be able to create new versions and switch back and forth between versions. https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/data/parcel-editing/setupeditingenvironment.htm#GUID-7C60D13B-CF6F-4711-8918-8D7FAEB72FEA Hope this helps Christine

Hi Diane We have a recording that we presented at our parcel fabric meetups that covers data migration to a Pro parcel fabric in the kind of detail you are looking for - included are tips and tricks etc https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-parcel-fabric-videos/meetup-migrating-and-administrating-parcels-with/td-p/1022942 Also make sure to read through the migration workflow steps in the documentation https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/data/parcel-editing/workflow-createpfandload.htm

Hi To see your records displayed - make sure the Records sublayer is turned on under the parcel fabric group layer in the TOC. The parcel fabric group layer is separate from the parcel type group layers. So now that you have appended your polygons, you need to build the parcel fabric to create lines and points. See this workflow for the complete steps: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/data/parcel-editing/workflow-createpfandload.htm Hope this helps Christine

Hi When I follow your workflow and merge the lines into an existing feature - I dont see any historic lines created (which is expected). It probably is better to merge to a new feature and manually set the parent lines as historic using the Set Historic tool. I see that the documentation does say to merge the lines to an existing feature and I will update that to merge to a new feature instead.

Hi Chad Are the dimensions on your parcel lines generated from the geometry (inversed)? If dimensions are generated from the line geometry there is no error. So any a priori accuracies you put in will always return a Too Low Chi test - because there is zero error in the measurements. In this case the CHI test is not really meaningful. Chi test will start to become meaningful once "real" dimensions are added from the record. How does your data look - are the dimensions from the record? For the constrained adjustment: A selection of both parcels and lines can be used as input to the least-squares analysis. When parcels are selected, dimensions on the parcel lines and coordinates of the endpoints of the parcel lines will be used as input to the adjustment. If lines or connection lines are individually selected, the dimensions on the lines and the coordinates of its endpoints will be used as input to the adjustment. It is not necessary to select the control points. Christine

Hi - Here is an explanation of the CHI test from the documentation: "If the Chi-square test fails and is too low, the estimated a priori accuracies may be too low (meaning that the numeric accuracy values may be too high). To improve the test, increase the estimated accuracies (decrease the numeric values). For example, decrease a 30 seconds accuracy estimate for directions to 20 seconds and rerun the adjustment. If the Chi-square test fails and is too high, the estimated a priori accuracies may be too high (meaning that the numeric accuracy values may be too low). To improve the test, first use the adjustment feature classes to identify and correct any measurements that are flagged as outliers. Then rerun the adjustment. If there are no measurements flagged as outliers, decrease the estimated accuracies (increase the numeric values). For example, increase a 0.59-foot estimate for distances to 0.8 feet." So for you, you need to go ahead and increase your a-priori accuracies (decrease the numeric values). "A priori accuracies are specified in the Direction Accuracy and Distance Accuracy fields of the parcel line or connection line feature class. If the fields are missing accuracies, the defaults of 30 seconds for directions and 0.15 meters (0.49 feet) for distances are used." See this help topic for more information https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/data/parcel-editing/runleastsquaresadjustment.htm Let us know if this helps answer your question or if you have any more questions. Regards Christine

Frank is correct - just use the standard editing Merge tool to merge lines into a polyline. Be aware that you may lose COGO attributes if you entered them for the individual lines.

Hi Ross Here is how you would traverse/digitize in a natural boundary when using the traverse tool to create a new parcel: Click the Traverse tool in the Records Tab to open the Traverse tool. Set your starting location Start entering in your traverse lines (with data entry). To enter in a natural boundary for a traverse leg, click the Line tool at the bottom of the traverse grid. (The traverse enters lines using the 2-point line tool. You will switch to the line tool to create a polyline. Cogo dimensions will not be stored for the polyline.) Make sure you click in the Direction field of the new leg in the traverse grid and then click the line tool to digitize in the polyline. When you are finished, right-click and click Finish. The traverse leg will be populated with the cogo dimensions of the imaginary straight line between the start and end points of the polyline. The dimensions will be in <>, which means they are not stored. I have attached a screenshot of the traverse - it has two natural boundaries in it. If you are not using the Traverse tool - you can also just switch to the regular polyline tool to digitize in a parcel boundary - as Frank mentioned. Hope this helps Christine

Hi Curtis It depends what you want to do with the parent parcel - do you want to keep it current or make it historic? For example - you may want to keep it current and change its parcel type to Subdivision and maintain it in a separate parcel type from your traverse parcels. If you dont want to maintain the parent Subdivision parcel in a separate parcel type then you can use Set Historic to set the parcel as historic. You can also delete it, if you dont want to save it as a historic parcel. To see what happens with lines when you set parcels as historic - see this help topic and scroll down to the "Parcel features" section. https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/data/parcel-editing/setcurrentorhistoric.htm You can also use Copy Lines To to split a parent parcel into smaller parcels as described in this workflow: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/data/parcel-editing/parcelsplitworkflow.htm Regards Christine Parcel Editing Team
