I know the utility network features classes are z-enabled, but does my data have to have z-values? I work on a small university campus that owns and manages most of its utilities. Probably like many small, old universities, it has not maintained very good records of where these utilities are located, workers can only tell me "the line runs somewhere through here." I have been collecting data via sub-meter GPS whenever there is a utility locate request, and also by sitting down with plant service staff and digitizing what they know (or think they know🤔). Between these and the drawings that we do have, I have been able to construct useable2D modals of our systems. One piece of data I do not have, however, for most of the system, is elevation (or depth). If I do not have this information, is it going to cause problems with using the Utility Network? I recognize that I won't be able to do the cool 3D views that are shown, but will the Utility Network still work in general?

I am trying to set up our custom basemap gallery, following the instructions at Create a custom basemap gallery for your organization. I have a hosted tile layer that I wanted to be able to use as the default basemap. It has been shared with the group, but when I go in to settings to set it as the default, there is nothing to choose. In ArcGIS Pro, no basemap was available on the basemap tab. Then I saved the tile layer as a web map and shared it with the custom basemap group. It is now available. So my first question is: do custom basemaps for the custom basemap gallery have to be web maps, or are there other formats that also work. My second question has to do with the Esri basemaps. In the blog instructions, under "Set the group as the basemap gallery", it talks about a couple buttons -- Share vector basemaps, and Share raster basemaps. I thought if I clicked on them, this would make the default Esri maps show up in my custom basemap gallery, but that is not happening. What do these buttons actually do, and what is the process to make the Esri basemaps available from my custom basemap gallery?

Thanks, Scott. I guess I've been using ArcMap too much lately, and had forgotten it was CTRL-SHIFT and not just CRTL or SHIFT (I had tried both, independently). Do you know where this is in the documentation? I couldn't find it anywhere.

SEE THE UPDATE at the bottom of the post for additional information I just recently installed ArcGIS Pro 2.6.2. When I am editing vertices, I cannot select a vertex and then use a shift-click to add vertices to the selection so that I can move them simultaneously. For example, I have a sidewalk polygon that needs to have a part of the sidewalk shifted to the side because it actually has a jog in it that wasn't in the original digitization. I want to select the parallel segments on both sides of the sidewalk so that I can move them simultaneously. In the past, I might select a pair of vertices on one side of the sidewalk, and then using a shift-click, add the pair of vertices on the other side to the selection of vertices, so that I can move them all simultaneously. But now, that does not work, and there doesn't seem to be any way to add to the selection of vertices. I'm trying to find out if anyone else has seen this behavior where you can't add to the selection, or is it something unique to me and my computer? NOTE: This is a simple example just for the purposes of illustration--using one of the selection tools would readily work here, but I may have more complex structures where I can't select everything in one go because the vertices needing moved are not contiguous. UPDATE: The behavior I am seeing when I attempt to do a shift-click is that the feature will change to being just highlighted and the vertices disappear until I release the shift. The vertices reappear after release but there are no vertices showing as selected, including the ones that had originally been selected. I am seeing this behavior on two different machines.

Thanks for the clarification. I am glad it was just a misunderstanding. So, multiple propagated attributes, but just one per tier, which can be set "at any time". I can hardly wait 10.8.1 to come out because that is when we will start implementing the utility network! Thanks, much, Cheryl

I have just finished watching the Esri UC 2020 Utility Network Management: Advanced Capabilities session. I currently have not set up a utility network, though I will be soon, so trying to understand it as much as possible. I have two questions about Attribute Propagation. 1. One of the things mentioned in the session was that Attribute Propagation is configured when the network is being created. Is there any way to configure it later? I don't currently have the data that would be needed for attribute propagation, or even know what attributes my users would want propagated, but if, in the future I wanted to add attribute propagation, how would I do it? 2. The presenters indicated that there can be only one propagated attribute per utility network. It want to make sure I understand this correctly, there can be only one propagated attribute per Utility Network, not utility domain? So if I have a utility network that contains water, sewer, storm, electric, and fiber (yes, I work on a university campus that manages all of those utilities), I could only have only one propagated attribute for only one utility (e.g. pressure in the water system), and not one for each utility domain (e.g., another one for phases in electric)? I am in the process of learning how to publish using Portal for ArcGIS. I am using ArcGIS Pro 2.4.1, Portal 10.6.1. I have a map in Pro from which I published three web layers. Each time, I published using the "Copy all data" and Layer Type: "Feature", Portal folder was default, Share with had a particular group identified. The first web layer was a single feature layer, the second was a group layer, and the third was several different selected feature layers. When looking at the Add Data tab in Pro, the first two web layers showed up in my Portal as expected--both in My Content and in the designated Group and identifed as Type Feature Layer (Hosted). The third one, however, does not show up in My Content, however, it does show up in its designated Group where it is also identified as Type Feature Layer (Hosted). If I do a search in All Portal, it is not found. Strangely, for this third layer, Portal in ArcMap has just the reverse problem in finding it. If I look at My Maps and Data, this third layer is there, but it does not appear in the designated group in My Groups. Also, when I bring it into the map, from the Portal, only the first feature layer is there. If instead, I use ArcCatalog, the web layer appears in the Hosted folder for my Portal and when dragged into the map all feature layers as they should. However, the web layer does not appear in My Hosted Services (ArcGIS Enterprise), although the other two layers I created do. If I access the Portal URL, there is a service definition for this third layer in My Content, but no feature layer, and no layer or service definition appears in My Groups either. The only way I can add it to a web map is as an ArcGIS Server Web Service where I have to use a URL. What has happened and how do I make it behave like the other two web layers? Cheryl

Thank you, Kory, for your quick, informative response! I want to take this opportunity to let your know I really appreciate the work you do on Geonet; I have found it very helpful in keeping me aware of issues and what is happening with development in ArcGIS Pro. I'm not yet proficient in Pro, but I have come to like it and use it about 70% of the time. Looking forward to pretty much full equivalency with ArcMap! Cheryl

Is it just me? When I make manual edits (as opposed to copy/paste) in a text cell, if I have just opened the table and click on a cell (not double click) and type, everything works fine for that cell, but if I click the next cell (or hit enter to go to the next cell) and start typing, sometimes it puts in the first letter and then backspaces so the remainder of my typing comes before what should have been the first letter. Other times, it works fine. Anyone else experience this, or know anything about this, or have any ideas? Cheryl

When creating (or adding values to) a coded value domain in ArcGIS Pro 2.4.1 (and the previous versions), adding new coded values is awkward. After adding one row and hitting ENTER, the next row is highlighted but you have to select the cell to start typing -- an extra, awkward click, especially if you are adding many values. Please make it like ArcMap where you enter one row, hit enter, and you can start typing on the next row immediately. (This is a similar issue to the problem with attribute table editing before 2.4) Current workaround is to use tabs; ENTER should work the same way!

Thank you. I just now had time to digest your response and the link. I did not think to check what information was provided for other utilities . . . . and I see there is even a code for Removed (couldn't find that anywhere in the Stormwater Network documentation). I guess I need to examine the documentation for several utilities to get my head wrapped around all this. Very helpful. Cheryl

Looking at the Lifecyle_Status domain in the StormWater Utility Network model, I see the codes skip numbers: Lifecycle_Status -- Valid lifecycle states for the assets. Code Value 0 Unknown 1 Proposed 2 Proposed - Approved 4 Under Construction 8 In Service 16 In Service - To Be Retired 32 Abandoned There is an expanded list in Lifecycle_Combined, but still a lot of numbers are missing: Lifecycle_Combined -- Bitwise combination of lifecycle states for subnetwork management Code Value 0 Unknown 1 Proposed 2 Proposed - Approved 3 Proposed and Approved 4 Under Construction 6 Approved and Under Construction 7 Proposed, Approved and Under Construction 8 In Service 12 In Service and Under Construction 14 In Service, Under Construction, and Approved 15 In Service, Under Construction, Approved and Proposed 16 In Service - To Be Retired 32 Abandoned However, I presume that the intervening numbers are used somewhere else (perhaps in a different utility domain) and the attempt is to keep the same numbering across domains for ease of use. In the future, our UN will have several different utility domains because many of the assets in our structural domain will be shared across utilities (we are a university campus that manages most of our own utilities). That said, I need to add a code for "Removed" (it's not the same as "Abandoned") to let our utility locating people know, "That line you remembered from 5 years ago? It's no longer there, so you don't need to worry about marking it!"). Is there someplace where I can find out what the "missing" values are? There may be one for "Removed", in which case I would like to use that, and I don't want it to choose a number that is used in a different manner in similar domain in some other place/utility domain. For example, if I hadn't looked in the Lifecycle_Combined domain and just assumed the "missing" numbers were vacant, I might have chosen "3 = Removed". Then later, if I used the Lifecycle_Combined domain, I would have a conflict because in Lifecycle_Status, 3 = Removed, whereas in Lifecycle_Combined, 3 = Proposed and Approved. This is the kind of conflict I want to avoid. Cheryl

Back sometime in 2018 I had installed Survey123Connect. I don't recall whether I tried logging in or not, but I didn't get back to it until now. Since the elapse of time, I figured it would be better to get the latest version, so uninstalled and installed version 3.3.5.1. I tried to sign in to our enterprise Portal, but the sign-in button doesn't send me to the login page, or respond any manner. I saw the info about Windows credentials, so I went there and there was an old credential, I presume related to my original install; I deleted it, and tried signing in again. Didn't work. I switched to ArcGIS Online, and the sign-in button worked there (although I can't log in because I don't have an organizational account) I can sign in to Survey123, just not Survey123Connect Any ideas what might be the problem?
