You could use the python syntax and write: !Shape!.firstPoint.Z More examples here: ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2)

On line 2 of the code you mention, I created a cursor object and named it "curs". You can call it "rows" or anything you like. That doesn't matter, it is the name you use for a variable (in this case a cursor object). So it is not an error, but a way I like to call the object/variable.

An ArcToolbox tool? If so, the coding language could be Python. What other rules (apart from maximum distance) should be applied? Should the line be extended in the direction of the line or can it snap to lines sideways too?

The dataframe does not expose any symbology, so I don't think you can change it: ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2) . You might want to move the dataframe outside of the page using elementPositionX, elementPositionY and elementHeight and elementWidth of the dataframe, but I still don't understand why you would like to create a blank page...

I can reproduce the problem, but I don't understand why the function behaves differently in the FieldCalculator. I would suggest to use the script you build in PyScripter include parameters and create a tool from it and include it in your model... or better yet convert the model to python, include your logic and run from PyScripter. I hardly ever use the field calculator (must be for something).

Thanks Jenora D'Acosta, for the link. So the visualization can only be used in ArcGIS Pro. I have just upgraded ArcGIS Pro to the general release which has just become available and will check it out this week or next week. Thanx again! Kind regards, Xander

Line 8 refers to this line S2 = S2[0] + '\n' + S2[1] Just before that you check the length of list S. Maybe you should also check the length of list S2. If it is 1, "S2[1]" will generate the error. if NANAME does not have a space and after the split results in a list with 1 item, it will generate the error.

Can you attach a small set of the R and B data? Be aware that the natural logarithm of a negative float or 0 will result in NoData and I see that you have negative values in your raster. I tried your formula on some sample data (OR2A_Beijing_China_40cm_054000253010, each band has values ranging from 1-2047, so completely different from your data). The formula works: 0.895 - 4.33 * Float(Ln("Band_3B"/"Band_1R")) + 23 * Float(Ln("Band_3B"/"Band_1R")) ... but, the result had little variation in data, most pixels were NoData and large areas with the value 0.895000, and small areas with values ranging up to 99.72.

When working with 3D polygons (Z aware polygons) the polygon vertices may have a Z value, but the polygon does not have a volume. The tool Interpolate Polygon To Multipatch (3D Analyst), can create a Multipatch which has a volume. When you have multi patches, you can use Inside 3D (3D Analyst) to determine if they are inside.

If you have more than 16384 columns in your raster, Excel won't do it for you..., but I like the creativity of the answer.

You can do this using Python by converting the raster into numpy array. In case it is large, see the second example on the same page that handles larger raster datasets: ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2) No Spatial Analyst extension required.

The link using the c.na9.visual.force/apex location is due to being logged in when you copied the url. I copied it without while being logged out (hence the ideas.arcgis.com). It is one of the problems that exist with the URLs from the different Esri sites.
