Robert: Would this functionality ever be available in a public widget? Or is it too business specific to make it a one size fits all configurable variable?

Janice: What version of ArcGIS are you currently able to build composite address locators in? I am currently in ArcGIS v10.0 where I have composite address locators (one source though). I believe I have been able to build composite address locators in ArcGIS v10.1. I still need to test in ArcGIS v10.2 as that is the version my organization is moving to. Please let me know how it goes with ESRI. Additional Information: I tried to create a custom Address Locator from a .lot file that my organization created back in v9.3 which still works in v10.0. If I used the SDE connection from a previous process that had the focus in ArcCatalog, I received an error message saying that the address locator could not be created from 2 different geodatabases. But if I re-initialized the SDE connection in ArcCatalog I was able to successively build the address locator from a feature class and table originating in the same SDE database. It seems that ArcGIS cannot build an address locator from two different geodatabases based on my testing. My testing also displays an issue with SDE connections in ArcGIS v10.2.

Robert: How do you currently apply layer definitions dynamically to layers in a FlexViewer app? Is this a configurable item in the xml file? Or does the layer definition need to be built into the mxd that is the source of the mapservice?

Erik: Is there any chance your layers appear in the app from another source such as ESRI basemaps? I ask because my organization submitted GIS layers to ESRI to add to the public basemap layer (e.g. Parcels, Roads, Contours), so if I loaded in my specific layers as well as the ESRI basemap and my layers did not load it would still appear as though my layers are in the map.

Allan: The Oracle Connections need to have the Client version specified, so you will need to update all the SDE connections in your mxds. http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/85064-Looping-Through-Layers-in-Mxd-and-Saving-Mxd-Changes-Extent Look at post #13 for a python script that you help you with this conversion. You will also need to update any lyr files you have that reference application server connects, unless you want to recreate them. I could help you out with some code in that area. Please note that the above script uses the findAndReplaceWorkspacePath which might have a memory leak that would be detected if you plan on running this script on a large batch of mxds (>400). I have a longer script that uses the replaceDataSource method that has a memory leak issue when running on a large batch of mxds. As such I run my python script on a Windows 2008 Server machine to get as big a batch as possible (>1500 mxds in 1 batch).

Robert: When was the ability to query the related record to highlight a related feature built into this widget? I do not recall being able to do this, but I have not been working much with FlexViewer in the past few months. I do remember being able to go the other way where I query a feature and then access the related records.

Lorinda: I just figured out why my script was not handling annotation feature classes. Annotation feature classes are structured similarly to group layers and I had an If statement asking whether the focus layer was a group layer or not. If the layer was seen as a group layer (as an annotation feature class is), the layer would not be processed. This was faulty logic as other conditions would prevent a true group layer from being processed, but still allow an annotation feature class to be processed.

Have you built composite locators before? I ask before maybe you set something up wrong in the composite locator and that is the issue. Maybe you can copy the data from one database to the other database so all the data is originating from the same database. Then see if the composite locator works. If you can get the composite locator to work from one database, then I would call ESRI to see if your original scenario of data from 2 databases is a bug.
