Experience Builder Print Widget Not Recognising Uploaded PAGX Layout Item

Experience Builder Print Widget Not Recognising Uploaded PAGX Layout Item

Hi all,

I am trying to use a custom print layout in ArcGIS Experience Builder.

Environment

  • ArcGIS Online (not ArcGIS Enterprise)

  • ArcGIS Experience Builder

  • User Type: Creator

  • Role: Administrator

What I have done:

  • Created a print layout in ArcGIS Pro.

  • Saved it as a .pagx file.

  • Uploaded the .pagx file to ArcGIS Online as a Layout item.

  • Shared the Layout item with my organisation and a dedicated group.

  • The Layout item uploads successfully and displays a correct thumbnail preview in ArcGIS Online.

  • The item can be opened from ArcGIS Online and appears to be valid.

However, when configuring the Print widget in Experience Builder, I only see the default templates (A3 Landscape, A4 Landscape, A4 Portrait, etc.). The uploaded Layout item never appears as an available template.

I can click the Printing service in the Print widget configuration and then click Utility to browse groups. I can see my group containing the Layout item and I can see the uploaded template listed there. However, when I select the template, Experience Builder is unable to load it and the template is not added to the Print widget.

The uploaded Layout item also generates a correct thumbnail preview in ArcGIS Online, which suggests the PAGX file itself is valid.

Questions

  1. Should uploaded Layout (.pagx) items automatically appear in the Experience Builder Print widget in ArcGIS Online?

  2. If Experience Builder can see the Layout item in the group, why is it unable to load it?

  3. Are Professional or Professional Plus user types required to use custom Layout items in the Print widget, or should Creator user types work?

  4. Is there an additional configuration step required after uploading the PAGX file?

Just to add:

Additional information:

When configuring the Print widget, I can browse to my Layout Template Group and I can see the uploaded Layout items. However, when I click the Layout item, Experience Builder immediately returns:

"We couldn't find what you were looking for. Please try another one."

This suggests the widget can discover the Layout item but cannot load or register it as a print template.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi @CJRR

Based on the following article it seems like the capability is only user types that are above Professional.

Hope this helps.

Do you only want certain people being able to use these custom print layouts in your Experience or is this supposed to be a public Experience?  ESRI put some pretty big limitations on this workflow where it will eventually eat up credits when out of beta and might not be available for public use.

The Experience is not public. It is intended for authenticated AWCA staff and advisors using ArcGIS Online logins. We are looking to generate farm plans and survey maps for a relatively small number of users.

@CJRR

AGOL Premium Print service which is still in beta. ExB is waiting on for it to come out of beta before their print widget supports portal items as layout templates.

Releasing AGOL Premium print service is a currently in the production plan. (fingers crossed)
