I would start an incident with ESRI to see if this is a bug with their software. I only have cached mapservices in 1 directory at the moment so I can not reproduce your scenario.

For your instance it should probably be: sde:oracle11g:DGISDB not sdesde:oracle11g:DGISDB Additionally, you probably only need DCISDB as sde:oracle11g: will be automatically added by ArcCatalog. Check out this link for information on this matter as it has confused me http://support.esri.com/en/knowledgebase/techarticles/detail/40576 The smiley faces are a colon followed by an o. I forget how to switch this off as it does this by default.

This might be an issue with Windows updates. Take a look towards the bottom of this thread to see if it applies in your case: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/65493-ArcGIS-quot-Not-Responding-quot-in-Windows-7?highlight=10.2+crashing

Are you using the web adaptor? I ask because is there any chance you could be using the incorrect URL in the v10.1 environment. I believe you need to include the port in your URL if you are not using the web adaptor. v10.1 http://gis:6080/arcgis/rest/ - gis would just be the new server name v10.0 http://gis/arcgis/rest/ - gis would just be the old server name

Has anyone outside of ESRI added a new Windows Server 2012 server to an ArcGIS Server site that already had at least 2 Windows Server 2008 servers with ArcGIS Server installed on them? This is a scenario that my organization will soon be encountering and I was wondering if there are an issues I need to be concerned with in order for this setup to work properly.

Mike: I do not use application builder, but I do use the compiled FlexViewer application. I have ran into the same problem as you with previous versions. Sometimes I was able to do the same thing as you and it worked (usually simpler applications with less widgets), but other times I could not get the application to run in the next release unless I rebuilt the compiled application (easier than compiling code, but still could be time consuming). Unless the new release has added new functionality that your end-user cannot live without, I would just leave the application at v3.4 and wait for a later version with more improvements to upgrade the application.

"Fast forward to today, our mxd's still show these long outdated workspace paths but source the current database on the old server." Can you post a screenshot of this and explain the issue? Also, have you ever tried running these mxds through MxdDoctor to see if there is corruption in these mxds?

Lorinda: How would you be able to resource a datasource whose current properties you cannot access? I'm not sure how ESRI would help in this scenario as the parameters you need in the findAndReplaceWorkspacePath can only be accessed if your SDE layer is not broken.

Lorinda: How does your script handle broken datasources? If you do not process broken datasources, then your script will never process connections to the old db if it is off while running the script. You may also be running into an issue where python is trying to get the old SDE connection properties so it knows where to resource the connection. Since it does not see the old connection properties when the old db is off, it does not know what to do. I would think you would need to keep the old db around until you are certain that you have successfully processed all of your SDE connections.

To All ArcGIS Server (AGS) Administrators: Although not currently an issue, it will surely arise in the future as my organization scales up our enterprise AGS environment. Has anyone tried to add say 1 Windows 2008 server and 1 Windows 2012 server to the same AGS site? Since resources are tight, I could see in the future where my organization would want to add a Windows 2012 server to our AGS site that already is composed of Windows 2008 servers. If there are any issues putting Windows Servers of different versions into the same site, would placing them in different clusters resolve any potential issues?

Do you have any other raster images that you can try to create a mosaic dataset with as the issue might not be with your data, but your system in general? Can you give a brief description of your steps to creating a mosaic dataset and adding raster images to the mosaic dataset?
