The esri product team marked this enhancement (ENH-000134719) as not in product plan because it can be done with ArcPy, so I am adding more context to this request. The WKB function !Shape.WKB! outputs a bytearray, which can't be written to a basic file geodatabase field. For portability purposes, the bytearray should be converted to hexadecimal and stored in a text field. If you look at spatial SQL functions that create GEOMETRY or GEOGRAPHY columns from WKB (non-esri databases), the input type is this hexadecimal format. For complex geometries, the WKT, WKB, or GeoJSON can be extremely long in terms of # of characters. Using the field calculator, I have to create the new field and give the field the max text length available to ensure no truncation happens. If we added these functions to the 'Add Geometry Attributes' tool, that tool can auto-size the new field based on the length of the output text representation. Additionally, it increases the user-friendliness and intuitiveness of these ArcPy parameters.

Confirmed, I took the string output of (!Shape.WKB!).hex() and input in to a few non-esri databases using spatial SQL functions. The databases can properly parse the hexidecimal WKB in to GEOMETRY/GEOGRAPHY data.

@DanPatterson , thanks for the response. Trying to simplify this as a field expression. Looks like I just need to use the hex function on the bytearray. If my empty field is called "WKB_String", then [WKB_String] = (!Shape.WKB!).hex() is populating the field. I would have thought the syntax was [WKB_String] = hex.(!Shape.WKB!), but that throws an error that bytearray cannot be converted to integer. Does this image look like it is accomplishing the same end result as your script?

Need a little python help. This is for use in field calculator. Goal is to write the WKB representation of geometry objects (in a feature class) to a text field, for the purpose of exporting to csv. ArcPy supports writing WKB of geometry objects. See: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/arcpy/classes/geometry.htm#P_GUID-BC466D06-360C-42BD-B198-DA4139B45F49 The basic expression to get the WKB is !Shape.WKB!, although that returns a bytearray. I believe it needs to be encoded and converted to a string. The output should look like this image: The text in that image exports to csv as: "\001\006\000\000\000\001\000\000\000\001\003\000\000\000\001\000\000\000\012\023\000\000\314\276\362 . . . "

Mōno Simeone, I'm trying to understand how you want to source the Gannt, as Drew Flater asked. You want the gannt to be based off of date field(s) in a feature class?

Upvote. Seeing the number of rows passed between tools can help sort out issues or errors, rather than have to switch to a map view and pull up the intermediate model data from each step. I don't use FME but I do like that little map preview that appears. Alteryx modeling has this same concept-- the ability to "browse" the outputs of each model step (more simply than switching to a Pro map and pulling in the feature classes).

Duncan Hornby good point, we don't want to auto-update old models that's we're just looking at. This happens in sharepoint for us. I open a public excel document just to review what's in it, and it updates to show as "last updated one minute ago by Cole". Hate that.

This is a relatively simple enhancement that would make this task much easier to work with, especially in model builder, so I requested it be logged as a formal enhancement. Here is the enhancement number:
