Hi @Robert_LeClair. I've already been through all of that with ESRI Tech Support. We did a reinstall and reset the user settings. You'd think that would fix it since it's profile specific ... but no. You can review the transcript of what we've been through, here. https://my.esri.com/#/support/cases/tech-cases?caseNumber=03497059 That's where we're at. 🤔

Have you seen this problem? If so, please KUDO this question to help get ESRI's attention. INTRO: A problem has started for me with ArcGIS Pro in Remote Desktop where the panes appear in the wrong location when you select a tab to open them. This happens for me on only one PC. Remote desktop to other PC's work normally. I have already worked with ESRI Tech Support and they said that because it's only one user login on one PC that there's nothing they will do. DESCRIPTION ===================================================== Normally, when you select a tab to open a minimized pane, the pane will pop out with the upper right corner aligned with the upper right corner of the ArcGIS Pro canvas. NORMAL: Here, when I select the Catalog tab, the Catalog pane pops out in the correct location. PROBLEM: Using Remote Desktop to access the PC with ArcGIS Pro, when I click on the Catalog tab, the Catalog Pane pops out down and to the right of the normal location. Sometimes, it can be far enough away that it is outside of the screen and can't be seen. I'm currently using ArcGIS Pro version 3.2.2.

ESRI Tech Support just reported to me that they have reproduced the error, in house, and will probably log a bug for this. Thanks @ChrisUnderwood for your help in reproducing this!

Yes, Chris! That's exactly what I'm seeing. It's only the separated tool/map windows which create the black rectangles, not the main ArcGIS Pro program window.

Thanks Robert. We've already been through quite a lot of testing with ESRI Tech Support and tested all of those things that you mention: different PC's, different hardware, different OS's, even using only ESRI services for data, etc. It's not them any of them specifically and ESRI is stumped, so far. It is reproducible, though uncommon. I suspect that's because it happens only when ArcGIS Pro is minimized, so that users just see a mysterious black box and don't realize that it's ArcGIS Pro that is causing it. It also only happens when a map or tool frame is separated from the main window, which not everyone does. So, I suspect that there are other users, perhaps many, who see this problem but don't recognize the cause, so they just restart their PC without ever solving it. If you are not experiencing the problem, that's GREAT! 🙂 However, please do not harass people who are experiencing the problem and who are just trying to raise awareness of it and identify other users who have also seen it. I asked for kudos specifically and only from people who are also experiencing this problem in order to help get it onto ESRI's radar. That's what kudos are for. I hope this answers your questions. Also, Robert. If you're not experiencing this problem, please be so kind as to add you're hardware and OS configuration. That may help ESRI narrow the range of suspects and find the cause of this. Thanks!

I'm seeing an error with ArcGIS Pro 3.X where a black box or boxes appears on the screen in the following conditions. The problem is that when ArcGIS Pro is open but minimized to the task bar, and if there is a map, table, or tool separated from the main ArcGIS Pro window, then that separated window(s) may pop-up as a black rectangle while ArcGIS Pro is still minimized in the Windows taskbar. ESRI has not had other complaints about this. The issue may be that the black box appears while ArcGIS Pro is minimized, so that users may not realize that it is caused by ArcGIS Pro. To clear the black box(es) just restore ArcGIS Pro to full size. It may look something like this. If you have seen this black box problem, please comment and kudo here along with what version of ArcGIS Pro you are using. If you haven't seen it and but would like to test, please do the following test. Testing Steps Open an ArcGIS Pro map that you’ve created. Separate a map or table frame (or more than one) from the main ArcGIS Pro window. Enlarge the separated frame so that it fills most of a whole monitor. Minimize ArcGIS Pro to the Taskbar and leave it minimized. Do not restore it to full size. Go on about your business and wait to see if the problem happens while ArcGIS Pro remains minimized. If it does, it might take just a few minutes or a few hours. Just let it run in the background. After a while you may notice a gray outline on the screen where the separate frame was. The black box will appear if you click within the gray outline, even though ArcGIS Pro is still minimized. To make the black box go away, just restore the ArcGIS pro window from the task bar and then minimize it again or exit ArcGIS Pro. Please comment and let me know if you see the black box appear in your testing along with what version of ArcGIS Pro you are using. I'm currently using the latest ArcGIS Pro 3.1.3 on all of my PC's. I have a case open for this problem with ESRI Tech Support but they are having trouble reproducing it. I'm seeing the problem on three different PC's, two Windows 10 PC's from 2017 and one Windows 11 PC from 2022.

How can I push an ArcGIS Pro setting to Enable and disable editing from the Edit tab? We we want to turn this setting on for all of our users. Is this done with Active Directory? What is the registry setting?

OK, now I'm stumped. The problem is playing peek-a-boo. I've got conflicting results and my original failure mode is working. Additional testing. Test 1 Opened MXD Deleted all data connections and saved. Imported to AGP. Saved successfully. Test 2 Started AGP Inserted map. Saved APRX Imported MXD Saved successfully. Test 5 Recreated original failure mode. Works.

Hello @Andrew--Johnson I just encountered the same problem today using AGP 3.1.1. It's not a big issue for this one, so I'll just rebuild from scratch. Also, I've been using 3.1.1 since it's release and have saved several other projects, though they were not MXD imports. This was my first MXD import. Details for ESRI: Opened simple AGP without using template. Imported ArcMap MXD successfully. No issues. Tried to save and got error. Tried to save in another location and got same error. Tested deleting map contents bit by bit and saving after each deletion. Same error. Deleted APRX contents until everything was gone and there were no contents left. Completely empty project. Tried saving and got the error. I can't send you an APRX because I can't get it to save even once. ESRI, some addition details in that error message would be great! Also, reviewing the previous comments, above, I wonder about the history of those projects. Did the APRX files that failed on being converted from AGP 2.X to 3.X, have had their origin in even earlier MXD files that were imported to AGP?

Hi @KoryKramer. What I'm suggesting is actually an improvement on ArcMap. Allow me to compare. ArcMap Let's summarize ArcMap behavior, first. In ArcMap the default when working with non-versioned SDE data is to automatically save edits immediately. However, you can turn that off so that it will prompt you to save or discard edits at the end of the edit session. Even so, that setting only persists as an attribute of that MXD. So every time you open that MXD your setting will persist. However, if you open ArcMap fresh, without an MXD, then it defaults back to automatically-save and you have to turn that off yet again. ArcGIS Pro Currently ArcGIS Pro immediately auto-saves all edits to non-versioned SDE data without giving the user a way to turn that off. I would like ArcGIS Pro to do at least what ArcMap currently does, but also to allow the user to turn off auto-save so that it persists through ALL edit sessions, without having to turn off auto-save every time you start a new project. It sounds like that's what ESRI is doing with these changes but I just wanted to be clear. ⭐BONUS POINTS: It would also be really great if ArcGIS Pro could allow users to roll back individual edits within a non-versioned SDE edit session.

Thanks for the quick update @KoryKramer. Referring back to the conversation above, since it's still in development, can it be made so that the user can make this setting persistent across sessions without having to wait for an admin to do it?

@LarryYoung. I have installed 3.1 and I don't see this long-needed ArcMap equivalence feature. Please give us an update. Did it make it into 3.1? I checked my Options > Edit settings and I have everything set to not save edits automatically. Nevertheless, when I made an edit it was saved automatically when I exited the record. 3.2 then?
