Esri Community Member Spotlight
We’re excited to share a new monthly series of member spotlights featuring customers from the Esri Community—the people playing a role in finding solutions, sharing ideas, and collaborating to solve problems with GIS. We’re doing this to recognize amazing user contributions, to example how Esri Community’s purpose is being brought to life, and to bring depth to this group of incredible people who may never meet in person, but who benefit from each other’s generous expertise.
Josh Carlson
Josh is a GIS Analyst for Kendall County, Illinois. In 2021, he earned the role of MVP in Esri Community and won the Elite Level of competition in our Esri Community contest. Our team had the opportunity to interview him in July at User Conference 2022.
Luiza Fernandes
Luiza is a Senior Digital Innovation Analyst at Arcadis. Our team had the opportunity to meet up with her in the Map Gallery at UC 2022 to learn about "Housing Match," a map she and five colleagues created to facilitate the creation of new housing units for the homeless in São Paulo, and to talk about how Esri Community is playing a role in her work.
This wraps up our 2022 Q3 report. Thanks again for your time and support in building relationships and adding value for our customers in Esri Community!

We have exciting news to share! On January 24, the CMX Community Industry Awards recognized Esri Community as “Community of the Year.” Previous winners of the CMX awards have included Salesforce, Atlassian and many other best-in-class B2B software communities. This is a tremendous moment of recognition for our Esri user community, and we want to extend a BIG “Thank You” to all our members for making this possible. Winning this coveted award is testament to your passion and constant dedication to helping each other to find solutions, share ideas and collaborate to solve the world’s problems with GIS.
As many of you know, our online Esri Community has a long and meaningful history of collaboration, and our community has existed on several different platforms over the years. Our members have played a pivotal part in the continual success of our community. Most recently, in 2020, we moved to our current platform and during the migration process your feedback, insight and contributions were instrumental in elevating the value and impact of Esri Community. It was this collective effort in 2020 and your longstanding commitment to collaboration and GIS, that helped our community to achieve this recognition.
We are so proud and inspired by all of you every day in the community. We are grateful for your continued support and commitment to our shared mission and purpose, and we are excited about the future possibilities as we embark on the next phase of our journey together. For now, we invite you to join us, as we are taking this moment to celebrate you, and all the great work you do in Esri Community. Thank you and congrats!
