Webinar Q&A Where can we download the presentation? The presentation is now available from this link. Which IDE is this? The IDE I use is called Brackets. Could you provide links to tutorials in relation to developing apps with ArcGIS API code? Absolutely - here are two links (here and here) that should get you up and running. There is also lots of sample code available here. Is there any licence option between 5 user licence and 50 user licence yet? Currently named user licences only come in packs of 5 or 50 for ArcGIS Online. However, you can purchase 2 x 5 named user licences if necessary. 3D support in JS by ESRI, wherein we can create web apps from 3D Scene services also even on Mobile device using webGL or similar technology. This is something that is being worked on with the 4.x version of the ArcGIS API for JavaScript API. Coding in relation to widgets for ArcGIS Online apps. I assume you are speaking about Web AppBuilder widgets. There are some very good videos relating to customising and extending Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS widgets available from this link. We will consider this topic for a future webinar.

Webinar Q&A When will Navigator be available on android? We are expecting a beta Android version of Navigator to be released at the end of March. Assigning large amounts of tasks? Is it possible to automate e.g. need to survey 9,000 street lights? Absolutely, there are REST Endpoints for all of the associated Workforce layers so points and attributes can be pumped in as necessary. Can you give details on which CRM's it integrates with? A schema of the Workforce feature services has been made available here. CRM Integration would require you to sync via the REST Endpoint. If you would like to discuss further, please get in touch. What costs are involved for workforce on every workers phone, using Esri cloud for data and Survey123? A named user for each field worker/dispatcher is all that is currently required. How good is the Navigator App in Ireland, especially in rural areas? For Irish navigational data, HERE 2014 Q2 data is used. To use this data in Navigator, you have to download it through the app - the map package is 585MB in size. This caters for any navigation within the Republic of Ireland. I would suggest you test this out and see if it caters for your needs. See here further details regarding Navigator Map coverage. Note that you can route using maps created by Esri in the current release of Navigator. Future releases of ArcGIS Pro will support the creation of custom maps that can be used in the app. This includes support for routing on custom roads. Does the app work in offline mode? For example, if I wanted to use Navigator, and Survey 123 within Workforce when completing a project offline will it still work? What happens if you don't have 3G connectivity? Workforce is intended to be an occasionally connected mobile application where its value is in coordinating the activities of the field worker and notifying the back office when work is completed and where the field worker is located. With the initial release, viewing and acting upon work assignments will require a connection, as will logging of location and setting of working status. Navigating to work assignments is supported offline as is the completion of work using Collector for ArcGIS (once appropriate datasets have been downloaded to the device). Moving forward it is intended that client side caching of work assignments and location logs functionality will be added so that if you temporarily lose Internet connectivity on your device you can continue to using the Workforce app. Am I right in saying that where you link out to Survey 123 (or Collector) to complete a survey you will end up with 2 features. One identifying the assignment in Workforce and one being the completed Survey 123 survey. Does it maintain a link between these? You are indeed - the Survey123/Collector and Workforce datasets are separate. At the moment there is no link between these. Is there any integration with portal, now or in the future? Workforce for ArcGIS is not currently supported with Portal. However it is planned with the 10.4.1 release of Portal.

Webinar Q&A I see under your basemaps in ArcGIS Pro you had a whole load of basemaps. I just have the standard 10 from ESRI. How do I add in MapGenie/NI basemaps and I have an OS map service I created myself, I would like added in. You also mentioned others on arcgis.com can you send on the links to these other basemaps available? Firstly the basemap gallery in ArcGIS Pro came from my ArcGIS Online organisation. So this is what needs to be altered to add them in there. MapGenie and NI Basemaps are secured basemaps, so require subscription to their services. If you are subscribed, you can get in contact with them and ask for credentials, service endpoints, etc. so you can access them via ArcGIS Online. The one thing to note is that all the basemaps in the gallery have to be in the same spatial reference. So if you want to use the Esri basemaps, all your basemap gallery items have to use Web Mercator (wkid: 102100). I have created a video on how to add MapGenie to the existing basemaps in ArcGIS Online here. Note that you are required under licensing to use the Limit Usage option for each secured service. This is not in the video, but can be added via the Tile Layer item page. You have to add in your organisation's URL (e.g. http://esriireland.maps.arcgis.com and https://esriireland.maps.arcgis.com), as well as any URL's from which you will request those basemaps. Regarding available basemaps, you can check out some from here which may be of use. Are many of the geoprocessing tools from ArcMap available in ArcGIS Pro? Or do you need to swap between map and pro? The vast majority of geoprocessing tools from ArcMap are available in ArcGIS Pro. A full list of them can be found here. However, there are some tools that are unavailable in ArcGIS Pro for varying reasons. ArcMap can still be used for these geoprocessing tools. Will working with geodatabase data in Pro change the geodatabase compatibility with map? No. Migration issues from desktop 10.1 - ArcGIS Pro…..i.e. mxd's, python scripting, style files, and scenes created in 3D analyst? Firstly, there is a very good blog post which discusses migrating your content into ArcGIS Pro (you can import mxd's, .sxd's, .3DD's, Python scripts, style files, etc.). Once in ArcGIS Pro, these can be saved as projects (.aprx). Projects are not backward compatible; however, the data used by the application can be accessed by either ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro through the geodatabase, so there can be collaboration at a data level. Services published using ArcGIS Pro can be used and shared with ArcMap. Also, ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro can run side by side, on the same machine, so it will be possible to use both applications for accessing and working with local data and online services. Secondly, you can use the Analyze Tools For Pro tool to check for functionality that is not supported in ArcGIS Pro. The input can be a geoprocessing toolbox, Python file, or a tool name. Any issues identified will be included in the tool messages as warnings. Can you add DEM and drape, i.e. OSi ortho photo over same? Create animated fly through a project? Import 3D formats, i.e. Collada (.dat)? I don't see any reason why you couldn't import a DEM and drape. Animation is supported - see this documentation. You can import 3D Files into a multipatch feature class using the Import 3D Files tool. The input for this can be one or more 3D models or folders containing such files in the supported formats, which are 3D Studio Max (*.3ds), SketchUp (*.skp), VRML and GeoVRML (*.wrl), OpenFlight (*.flt), and COLLADA (*.dae). For a full list of supported data types and items within an ArcGIS Pro, se the following link. Will Pro eventually replace ArcGIS Desktop....I mean, should we start migrating over to Pro? No. ArcGIS Pro is a new member of the ArcGIS for Desktop family and can run side by side with your existing ArcGIS for Desktop applications, such as ArcMap. ArcGIS Pro currently does not have all of the functionality found in ArcMap. ArcGIS Pro does have unique capabilities, and new ways of getting work done, not available in ArcMap such as: Project-based workflows Combined 3D/2D visualization Task-based work automation Vector tile creation 64-bit support Multiple display and map layout support ArcGIS Pro was built using the best aspects of ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcScene and ArcGlobe, along with huge amounts of valuable input from the professional GIS community. New functionality is added to ArcGIS Pro with every new release. See what's new. Does the existing SQL and file geodatabases stay as is or need migrated? You can access your data in a similar way to with ArcMap, so these remain the same. Can you confirm pro is now on a standalone licence rather than through ArcGIS Online? From v1.2, ArcGIS Pro offers three different types of licenses: Named User license, Concurrent Use License and Single Use license. You can find more information regarding the management of licenses here. Can ArcGIS Pro allow you to publish a feature service to ArcGIS Online as ArcMap can't? Firstly ArcMap does allow you publish a feature service to ArcGIS Online. See the following documentation. Similar functionality is also available via ArcGIS Pro. Is 3D Analyst now obsolete with ArcGIS Pro? No. A similar 3D Analyst toolbox is available via ArcGIS Pro. I use a lot of the extensions (e.g. Spatial Analyst) in ArcMap...will these be integrated into ArcGIS Pro as well? As mentioned above, the vast majority of geoprocessing tools from ArcMap are available in ArcGIS Pro. A full list of them can be found here. However, there are some tools that are unavailable in ArcGIS Pro for varying reasons. ArcMap can still be used for these geoprocessing tools. What about the extensions that are in ArcMap - are all these in ArcGIS Pro? Please see above answer.

Webinar Q&A When you work in disconnected mode and wish to download mapping etc the default extents is a square which you can make bigger/smaller from the perspective of a Road/Rail Authority this means a lot of non essential map information as we would only interested in drawing a corridor along linear feature like road ..can this be done ? if not perhaps a suggestion for enhancing this functionality ? You can side load your own basemaps to the device (through iTunes for iOS and Windows Explorer for Android). This would allow you include only the data that you need. These basemaps have to be in .tpk format and can include whatever features you want in the basemaps. If there is a particular workflow you would like, I would suggest you post it on the ArcGIS Ideas site so the developers/product managers can consider it. Can Collector snap to existing features when you are out in the field collecting data, i.e. we have lines for roads could we make point features being captured snap to road to assist with ensuring accuracy of points ?? There is no option to snap using Collector at the moment. However it us under consideration as an enhancement for a future release. You can ‘copy’ existing features which may cater for some of your needs. You can alternatively use the magnifier to approximate the location you place on the map. Finally, in the interim you may want to consider using the snap geoprocessing tool against data that is collected in the field after it is sync’d back to your enterprise geodatabase. Can you set up collector outside the organisation for say members of the public to report issues? This sounds like something the GeoForm configurable template in ArcGIS Online would be more appropriate for. You can see an example form here. If you are dead set on a ‘native app’, you could try out something like AppStudio’s Quick Report. However, this would require publishing the apps to the appropriate app stores. Finally Survey123 may be an option at some stage in the future. There are plans to enable the collection of data publically, but I don’t know the time scales of this functionality. Do you have a tailored proven tool for Signage asset inventories and defects updating and management? I never mentioned it during the webinar, but this sounds like an ideal use of related tables, whereby you store multiple inspection records about a feature over time. There are also pre-cooked setups available from the ArcGIS Solutions team. You can check out the following Sign Inventory configuration for further information. With the Zeno device and pole combination can a height be set to accurately record a ground level At this point, both Z and M values cannot be captured as part of the location of a feature. This is being considered for a future release. In fact at the next release it is possible you will be able to add a height offset to allow for using an external GNSS receiver on a pole - further details on the upcoming release can be found here. Hi - is it possible to save multiple location base maps for offline use, and can this be done using an ArcGIS Online Organisation account? Cheers, Oisin For each webmap, you can only download one area of interest. However, you can save the same webmap multiple times and download multiple areas that way. Everything done during the webinar can be done with an ArcGIS Online organisational account, bar the ArcMap/ArcGIS Pro part at the end. Have far in can one zoom? The zoom level depends on the basemap being used. Some basemaps have a smaller zoom level than others. There is no limitation other than the basemap being used. The default tiling scheme for ArcGIS Online caters for 1:1128. If you want to zoom in more than this you have to create your own tiling scheme. You might find this and this interesting. How much do the Zeno Cellector devices cost? The cost of ZenoCollector devices vary depending on the level of accuracy needed. Please contact Alex at Alexander.Macdonald@leica-geosystems.com for further information. When downloading mapping data for a study area: is there anyway to get the mapping data for an irregular shape. For example a river survey we only want high res aieral imagery for 500m either side of the river and not the MBR of the extent of river for the study area. At the moment, the only way you can choose an area of interest for offline use is with a rectangular extent. Within this you can define the level of detail needed. However, you can side load your own basemaps to the device (through iTunes for iOS and Windows Explorer for Android). This would allow you include only the data that you need. These basemaps have to be in .tpk format and can include whatever features you want in the basemaps. You also have the option to publish these directly to ArcGIS Online as tile feature layers so you can download them as with other Esri basemaps through Collector (no need to side load them). If there is a particular workflow you would like, I would suggest you post it on the ArcGIS Ideas site so the developers/product managers can consider it. Can I sync this to an orcale spatial database rather than using ArcGIS online? Yes, you can edit data stored on enterprise geodatabases with Collector. These must be stored as ArcGIS Server feature services and on v10.0+ of ArcGIS for Server. You can check out the following documentation for further information regarding Oracle databases and ArcGIS Server. Can Zeno be hired or leased? Yes, ZenoCollector devices are available for hire. Please contact Alex at Alexander.Macdonald@leica-geosystems.com for further information.
