Okay, so in my case, I had mad changes to my Definition Query in my mxd doc that no longer reflected the original feature templates used for editing. This would allow for the icon to initially appear, and then disappear when the lyr was refreshed in the viewer. Updating my feature template properties settings solved the issues I was having. Did you ever resolve this issue? After making some changes to one of my maps I started getting a similar issue.

GISDev01, Thanks for the heads up on that one. I hadn't thought about their settings. I had assumed that if I could access their rest service site that I should be able to access their mapservices. That's what I get for assuming... I'll follow up with them and see what response I can get back from them. Thanks again, George

Okay, For some reason I can access mapservices from both the local state and university rest sites, however when I try to pull services from the following two sites I get the well loved channel.security.error http://igems.doi.gov/arcgis/rest/services/igems_haz/MapServer http://rmgsc.cr.usgs.gov/ArcGIS/rest/services/geomac_dyn/MapServer
Active Fire Bndries layer failed to load: Fault code: Channel.Security.Error Fault info: Security error accessing url Fault details: Destination: DefaultHTTP
To add to the confusion, some of these services I was able to freely pull from last year now result in said error. I am using Viewer for Flex 3.6 and ArcGIS for Server 10.2. My crossdomain file reads as shown below when I type in the url: http://fbms2091/crossdomain.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> - <cross-domain-policy> <allow-access-from secure="false" domain="*" /> <site-control permitted-cross-domain-policies="all" /> <allow-http-request-headers-from secure="false" domain="*" headers="*" /> </cross-domain-policy>
Any suggestions? Thanks, George

I don't know for sure about after the fact, however if you created a new ranking field and your data was such that you could cycle through the field for each new pdf, then you can combine them all in the end. This method, at least how I am using it, would require the ranking field prior to the creation of the pdfs. The new pdfs would have a page count associated with them and can then be compiled via python. Can you easily rebuild these pdfs or at least rename them in the order you want by adding a page count at the end? You might also be able to build a custom dictionary and use that to compile the pdf based upon the order you designated. I haven't tried this method as of yet.

Hi, I couldn't import this widget because widget name conflict with existing Coordinate widget name. Help please. Thanks. Oleg, Are you trying to use the default coordinate widget as well or is the error when you are trying to import this widget within the application builder? If its the later, then build the base of the web app via the builder and add the custom widget via the tag references and NOT via the application builder. You can find ample info at ESRI's Viewer for Flex help site. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/flex-viewer/concepts/index.html#/Widget_tag/01m30000001w000000/ Haskett

Yes, I use Python and the task scheduler to run various scripts ranging from once a day to every half hour. I also use Python to force update my map services as well. Is your data local or are you reaching out to the web for it? Either way you can use python to do both. In one example I am using python to copy a table view from a DB2 database and creating a feature class on the ArcGIS Server, then update the map services. There are other scripts that then process other data against the newly created feature class as well on various time intervals depending upon the task. In another example I use python to reach out and download csv files, kmls and zipped shapefiles from various urls and then process them against my own data, etc. I tend to build a working model in the Model Builder environment, then once I am happy with it, I then rebuild it in python and create the scheduler for it. What data type are you working with as far as the input source? Haskett

Is there a way to do this? If there are more than one way, any suggestions would be helpful. I have a few reports that I run from Desktop right now, and I'd like to give Flex Viewer users the ability to run them themselves to save myself some time and enable them to get them quicker. Thanks, Nick Nick, As for running the report directly from Viewer for Flex on an as needed basis, you might be able to build a model, publish it to a geoprocessing tool and connect it via the widget. Then they would click on the link and enter any required data, etc. In theory that should work, I have never tried it with publishing a report though. Haskett

George: Can you explain your process in more detail as I am interested to see if your process can be used to handle one of my organization's business needs that is normally done in ArcGIS Desktop? I have written a python script that is scheduled to run at certain times throughout the day. This script, depending upon which version, either goes out and downloads a csv file from the web, like earthquake data, or copies a table view from our production servers and stores the data on our GIS server. I then process the data using arcpy and run a report also using arcpy and the rlf file, then force the service to update based upon the new changes. I use it in a few different scenarios. It would be easier to email you an example and you can read through the code comments, etc. Then you can see the entire code and not just a portion of it. Send me a private message and I can email you a script to look over. It has become rather useful. Certain versions of the script can be used to both maintain and ongoing viewer for flex web map or use a template to build a new app for a unique request. Haskett

I use a python script to update my data, while at the same time generate the reports that are linked to the web map using the linklist widget. The script is scheduled to run as often as necessary. The script would be easier to view if I emailed it to you. Haskett
