Brian, So our set up here is that for a city of 130,000, I am the GIS Analyst and I report to the GIS Supervisor. We have a GIS staff of 2. Like you, we wear many hats. We just started using ArcGIS Online for our public mapping platform and we are still using Geocortex for our internal web mapping platform however we are considering moving off of it because with ArcGIS Pro, you are not able to publish map services directly to your server and what I heard from the Pro team is that they will not be enabling that capability. After talking with Geocortex at the UC and trying to get an idea of where we should look, it was told to me that we would have to use either ArcGIS Online or Portal in order to publish data to our Geocortex using Pro. This led me to question, "Why then have Geocortex?" Here in our city, we are using it for pretty much everything that I can implement with either Portal or Online using the configurable templates, solutions, or Web App Builder. My only gripe about ArcGIS Online is that if I publish my SDE data to a Web map in ArcGIS Online, it doesn't maintain the SDE connection and therefore doesn't update the data when the SDE geodatabase is updated. I posted an idea about allowing users to configure the data store in ArcGIS Online just as you can configure your data store in ArcGIS Server in order to fix that but I haven't seen any movement on that. Sorry to digress. As a former Esri employee, I can say that Esri does care about all of their customers. I would recommend reaching out to either you Account Manager or, if you can't get ahold of them, reach out to Chris Cappelli, the director of Global Business Development. Hope this helps

Gwen, We have a composite locator that looks at our Parcels when searching by APN (and zooms to the centroid of the parcel) or looking to our Address Points when searching by Address. The address points are where we choose to place them and are within the boundaries of the parcel.

BrianO We are in the same boat where Named Users are going to price us out. One thing that I realized that we can do that doesn't require named users (and it was recommended to me by Esri Staff at UC) was deploy Portal for ArcGIS behind your own infrastructure and then you only have to have named users for the people that need to either create, edit, or view data in groups outside of that, you can allow "anonymous" access but then control who can access the server whether that be through Active Directory or Web Tier Authentication.

Rebecca, When Pro was first launched it was authorized by your ArcGIS Online Named User from the entitlement and therefore required you stay current on maintenance. However at future releases of ArcGIS Pro, they enabled users to authorize with their Single Use license or their Concurrent Use license. By doing that it made it possible to use ArcGIS Pro even if you were not current on maintenance. You just would not receive access to ArcGIS Online and wouldn't be able to use some of the functionality of ArcGIS Pro. I hope this makes sense. Greg

My city is considering GeoEvent for our Emergency Operations Center and we are trying to get an idea of the work that will be involved to connect our CAD data to GeoEvent in order to push to Operations Dashboard. Does anyone know if Spillman has developed a connector for GeoEvent or if anyone has done this workflow could provide some advice?

I would look at the ArcGIS Admin to see what the protocol settings are? Are they HTTP only, HTTP and HTTPS, or HTTPS only. Also, what port is being referenced (6080 is HTTP and 6443 is HTTPS)

So Tracking Analyst is an extension but it isn't real time. Think of it as bread crumb of past so it is after the fact. Tracking Analyst is really used to answer the questions of where did it come from, where did it go, and where was. While GeoEvent is more for answering where is it now or when it was last reported. Tracking Analyst doesn't allow you to bring in a live feed of the data. ArcGIS Enterprise natively doesn't include real time capability that is why you need to add on the GeoEvent Server. It is an additional cost so that is why I would recommend reaching out to your sales rep.

It is possible using the append tool or the Import from Geodatabase (Single) or Geodatabase (Multiple) but you would need Desktop Standard or Advanced in order to edit or create feature classes within the SDE geodatabase.

So while yes you have the Database Server (Desktop) when you get ArcGIS Desktop Standard or Advanced, that is built on SQL Server Express and therefore has a 10GB database limit and 10 direct connection limit. This is very similar to the Server Workgroup licensing. While yes you can create web services, you can't use Portal and you it won't let you have people editing the data from the services that you publish. ArcGIS Server Basic is very limited which is why, when I worked for Esri I think I may have only sold one license of it in almost 3 years. In order to truly get the WebGIS model, you need Server Standard at a minimum.

Hi Adrian, Yes I understand about the product life cycle support however when Jack mentioned at the closing session that they will continue to support it, he didn't mention at what level they will support it. For instance being certified on newer Operating Systems. From what I heard all over the place at UC from Esri employees is that ArcMap is going away but that is contrary to what I heard Jack say.

With Server Basic, essentially all it is used for is the SDE geodatabase if you are wanting to deploy a web mapping platform, you need to have at least Server Standard.

Did anyone else receive UC Whiplash regarding information about ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap depreciation? Before the UC, I heard from a Customer Advocacy Lead at Esri that ArcMap is going away and then Jack said at the Plenary that it isn't going away and will continue to be supported. Then during the UC, many of the Esri employees that I talked to and presented both in the Expo Hall and at the in Sessions said that ArcMap is going away and even a few of them even provided a date range of 2022 or 2023. But then Jack in the closing session said that it isn't going away and will continue to be supported? Which one is it? It can't be both? If people have thoughts or also shared my experience I would be interested to know.

You can reauthorize the software using the ArcGIS Administrator which is in All Programs > ArcGIS. From there click on Desktop and Click. Authorize Now for Single Use or put in the location of the license manager in the Concurrent Use.
