Well, I'm ashamed that I assumed it wouldn't be searchable... but you have already covered this. Thank you so much.

Is there a way to have certain widgets auto-open in a web map built with Web App Builder (Beta 3)?

My problem with AGOO/AGO is merely that I dislike sending clients (ergo the public) to a non-City website to view our data. We didn't populate Google Maps for the public and we won't populate AGOO/AGO maps for the public neither. I want all maps to be built and published from the very expensive servers we already have... lol. But now I have to ask... what do you mean, "2 clicks behind?"

We have separation of Test / Dev / Prod on everything BUT our web maps. Back under Flex we had FlexBuilder / FlexViewer both on our Dev box, but with the new Javascript I haven't started back on that. But... Robert Scheitlin, GISP, now I do. I just put Web App Builder on our Dev box. Installed Node JS. Ran Web App Builder SUCCESSFULLY! And re-built the map I had built online. (why can't the online one have a download option?!!) Now I'm getting security errors with trying to download the map... but I can just go grab the files and copy-n-paste them where they need to go. Don't need to download. Way excited. Now to get Portal setup and running... I REALLY wish I had someone with as much Portal experience as you have with Web Map experience.

We have three web servers. 1 is in the DMZ and is for external maps only. We have the web adaptor installed there to keep users away from our private REST services. The other 2 are clustered. They run an internal only set of web maps. I am 'assuming' that Portal will install on, say... one of those clustered servers... and we can point it to our webadaptor that is on the DMZ... and then it will still allow us to access both external maps through the web adaptor like now... and internal maps that do NOT go through the web adaptor. I'm wondering if this is correct.

I have been trying to run the Web App Builder (Beta 2) from our web server unsuccessfully. It would load the web browser at first and fail in a spinning wheel of nothing. I was getting a browser error saying that the 'remote resource wasn't accept incoming' something or other. So... I downloaded the (Beta 3) and now I am getting different errors. I get the following... module.js:340 throw err; ^ Error: Cannot find module 'express' at Function.Module._resolveFilename (module.js:338:15) at Function.Module._load (module.js:280:25) at Module.require (module.js:364:17) at require (module.js:380:17) at Object.<anonymous> (C:\inetpub\wwwroot\WebAppBuilder\server\server.js:24:15) at Module._compile (module.js:456:26) at Object.Module._extensions..js (module.js:474:10) at Module.load (module.js:356:32) at Function.Module._load (module.js:312:12) at Function.Module.runMain (module.js:497:10) Press any key to continue . . . I am uncertain as to how to proceed.

What I am hoping is that... With Portal installed an Internal requestor goes to Portal and searches for their map. Finds it. Consumes it as needed. An EXTERNAL requestor goes to Portal, can ONLY see the PUBLIC ACCESSIBLE maps / Gallery and Consumes IT as needed. If an EXTERNAL requestor were to 'somehow' get the URL to an INTERNAL REST SERVICE the WebAdaptor/Portal would make that URL invalid to them... Also, I'm hoping I don't have to shut down a Production Server (or even reboot it) to Install Portal and configure it... I need to be able to set it up without any downtime for the live maps already running. I'm really looking forward to getting Portal running and using it LOCALLY like I have been able to use ArcGIS Online through the net.

Also, we have three servers... A DMZ with our Webadaptor installed that stores and publishes our external maps. Two internal clustered servers that are our ArcGIS Server setup and store and publish our Internal maps. I'm not sure where I would setup Portal? On the DMZ since we need it to allow public access or can Portal communicate with the DMZ Webadaptor and manage that for us...?

Did you do the federated server or the hosting server or the federated WITH hosting server setup? I'm seriously considering the federated WITH hosting as we have the space and servers.

I know. I'm currently researching Portal. I'm 100% averse to pointing our customers to ArcGIS online for any maps we develop as we already have a clustered ArcGIS Server system with a Web Adaptor setup and running. So now I'm trying to figure out what pitfalls there are in deploying Portal on an already clustered / web adaptored system... *facepalm*

So I'm getting prepared to install Portal on a clustered server where we already have a Web Adaptor configured on our DMZ server. Does anyone have any warnings?

Yeah, apparently the Web App Viewer App is a means of storing locally some kind of reference / pointer to your Web App built with the Online Web App Builder. It has NO widget folders because you should have configured those online and any custom widgets you 'apparently' have to create and configure personally. I never had the time to get the Beta 2 Dev setup. I am inundated with putting out fire projects. Now I have a big streets project map I have to deploy and I'm leaning towards just installing Portal so I can do all of this on our server instead of dancing with ArcGIS Online. Ugh!

I think my favorite part of this confusing process is: http://doc.arcgis.com/en/web-appbuilder/manage-apps/deploy-app.htm Add custom widgets: Put the custom widget in widgets folder. Add the widget into app’s config.json. Taking Demo widget as an example. Add it into config.json file { "name": "Demo", "label": "Demo", "uri": "widgets/Demo/Widget", "index": 13, "id": "widgets/Demo/Widget_1" }, 'Put the custom widget in widgets folder.' What? This 'app' has ONE folder... called dynamic-modules and there are no widget folders or files in the entire thing. It's like the people at ESRI that developed this app have NEVER had to install or set it up. I'm getting to that point where I just go back to FlexViewer for development... which is making me frustrated.

I'm toasted. I've spent 2 days now trying to develop an app with Web App Builder. 1) Local Downloaded Web App Builder (Beta 3). Set it up on my server. Double-clicked startup.bat and get nothing but errors. Don't know if it's due to having a WebAdaptor or what, but I can't get it to work. My co-worker is suddenly decisively moving forward trying to unlock the errors but I'm done. 2) ArcGIS Online Built the entire web app with Web App Builder (Beta 3) online. Laid it out, setup the pop-ups, configured the widgets, and then realized there wasn't a 'download' button. Almost lost my mind. 3) Web App Viewer Downloaded this cockamammy nonsense and am proceeding to pull my hair out. http://maps.cityoftulsa.org/iot/ There's the URL. I keep getting 'Forbidden Access' and I have no idea why. I'm editing the config.json file, but I'm quickly losing hope. Long week... and it's only Tuesday. I figured this whole process would be INFINITELY easier if we just installed Portal but I don't have the time to even research it thoroughly enough to figure out if it will cause issues with our current configurations?! Ugh.

We are starting a project and I could swear I remember a 'Streets Project' Local Government Data Model package that was put together. Does anyone have that information? I can't seem to find it now.
