As a side note... Keep in mind you can prop up a copy of the LGM, load your data the first time manually into the LGM, then build a model that keeps it updated. This is for those who have a proprietary schema in their databases that they can't abandon. You keep populating your data like normal, but schedule the model to run on regular intervals. Then your LGM is just an LGM-ized version of your data while your REAL (non-ported) data is in your systems native environment and safe and sound.

Situation I'm trying to duplicate query functionality from another web-based application we have internally, but I want this in the Query Widget on a WAB-built map. Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated. Desired Functionality The web page I am trying to mimic allows users a large selection of query options. One way it does this is by offering selection choices similar to the following example: [ Field 1 ] All Choices First Option ... middle Options Last Option Null Options So basically, in field 1 the user can build a query to retrieve all records that are using that field by selecting : All records where this field has ANY entry. If the database table that this field is in only has two records, Yes and No, then you can select all records that have Yes or all records that have No. You can select any SINGLE entry, from the first to the last. This returns all records where this field holds the selected entry. All records where this field is empty, not just blank but null. Can this be done with the Query Widget? If not, is there another way to accomplish this?

It sounds like a custom widget for the Layer list would be perfection.

Greetz All, I am wondering if anyone in this group started our doing web maps without any GIS background? What kinds of pitfalls did you find? What kind of issues did you face? Would you have gone that direction had you known the obstacles ahead of time? I've been developing GIS applications for several years in multiple environments and I've heard it said (recently) that we should let our Web Development personnel handle the WAB and started doing these applications. All I can think is, what happens when they need to adjust annotations, layer configurations, featureclasses that aren't in the right projections, etc. All of those things that I understand and can bypass days of research because I work in the industry make these things less of an obstacle and more of a speed bump. Just trying to get the opinions of others doing this? Am I dead wrong? Has ESRI created the perfect tool for non-developers to craft GIS-ready maps? Or is that pie-in-the-sky thinking? What's your $0.02 worth on this?

So I've got an internal-only map setup and running. (thank you Robert Scheitlin!) I got my proxy issues all figured out and now I have a working proxy for all future internal only maps. The first map I created was an Internal Sewer Map. It works. Hooray. The second map I created was an Internal Water Map. It works. Also Hooray. However, I keep getting this weird 'login' artifact. When loading either of these two maps, "SOMETIMES" I get the login window popup. But, it's not as specific as the previous login windows. Originally, when I didn't have my proxy properly configured I would get Login Screens that were 'item-specific' as if AGOL knew the user was trying to login to that item... like this... (I blurred out my item information) Well, those logins don't show anymore (thank the maker) but, every so often... if I refresh or jump from one map to the other, I get a login screen that looks like the following... Which just says "(item)" almost like it's confused. Now if I refresh the map it loads up WITHOUT the login screen, like it's supposed to. Now if I was the Field Tech that is going to be accessing this map while performing my job then this wouldn't be an issue, I would just refresh and keep going. But I'm willing to bet that the first time they get this in the field that I'm going to get a Service Ticket. ALSO I'm assuming this isn't the expected, nor coded, response that ESRI planned. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm still curious about how you solve your issue, but I've figured out the proxy situation I was dealing with. GOOD LUCK!

The Local Government Model is a well documented, highly integrated, geodatabase model that has been developed and configured by ESRI and made available on their site for all registered users. It is considered a complete product but one thing I've discovered is documentation on it is sparse and/or somewhat difficult to find. On top of this there are multiple applications and solutions developed, both by ESRI staff as well as 3rd parties (generally users). The documentation on all of the myriad of pieces is fragmented due to the fact that it is developed on so many levels and by so many parties. This document is my attempt to bring all of the pieces that are important together into one place for ease or navigation and discovery. The documentation on all of the myriad of pieces is fragmented due to the fact that it is developed on so many levels and by so many parties. This document is my attempt to bring together all of the pieces that are important (as I see them) concerning the actual model itself into one place for ease of use, navigation or discovery. Detailed Information Data Dictionary ESRI offers a 'Data Dictionary' for the LGM that gives a complete birds-eye view of the entire structure in a web-page format complete with links. This information can be found here. Access the LGM The download point for the LGM should be located here. Updates / Upgrades The beauty (and horror) of using the LGM is that it updates regularly. It is a living Geodatabase. Update / Upgrade Assistance ESRI provides a tool that will assist in migration from one version of the ArcGIS Solution Information Model to a newer verion and incorporate content provided with each release. The tool gives you the option to 'opt out' of specific aspects of the update. In fact, the 'Schema Migration Wizard' looks at your setup and allows you to accept or deny changes to your system based on new data as well as removed data. If you have questions about the process ESRI provides a help section to walk you through a lot of the nuances of updating. Release Notes ESRI generates a detailed release notes for the Local Government Information Model in PDF format. It appears that they just update the Release Notes PDF with each update so >> this link << should work everytime the notes are updated. If you try this link and it doesn't work, please feel free to update / correct. LGM Tools ESRI Provided ESRI has assembled, developed and made available a series of tools for interacting with the LGM. Everything from installation to updating your very own Local Government Model Geodatabase. ArcGIS Solutions Schema Migration Wizard The ArcGIS Solutions Schema Migration Wizard helps you migrate from one version of an ArcGIS Solution Information Model to a newer version (i.e., 10.1 > 10.2) and incorporate content provided with each release. X-Ray for ArcCatalog The X-Ray add-in for ArcCatalog can be used to develop, refine and document your geodatabase designs. X-Ray for ArcMap The X-Ray add-in for ArcMap can be used to document the properties of your map documents (MXD's) Set Map Data Sources The Set Map Data Sources tool helps you update map documents that reference data in a file geodatabase to correctly reference data in an enterprise or workgroup database. 3RD Party Provided 3rd party organizations have also assembled, developed and made available tools for interacting with the LGM. Gizinta GIS Data Movement Tools Gizinta is a set of tools that simplify GIS data movement between databases and organizations. Made by the people at Vertex3. In the config.json. On line 290. Where you enter the rules like so... "rules":[
] You said to enter like you said to enter... and I did... I didn't pay attention to the squiggly brackets... The damnable squiggly brackets... I just inserted them and VOILA! it works... I'm torn between ecstatic-ness... and facepalm-ing. Thank you so much man. Friggin details.

That's what I'm afraid of. I have been pulled off of webmaps for so long lately that I'm learning everything all over again. Maybe I just need to start from scratch?! Hmmmmmm.... I'm going to give that a try... I appreciate your time Robert.

I've now exhausted StackExchange... Dojo... and a few other locations. "Unexpected Token" appears to mean that the Javascript is messed up. An If-Then-Else loop issue. I've tried digging through the ConfigManager.js to no avail. Chrome Dev tools are useless to me. It looks like I'm making a call to ESRI tomorrow... this is ridiculous. It appears that the problem here is trying to setup a secured Web Map on an Internal server for specific company access. And AGOL makes it impossible. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm fairly certain that if I opened up my webmap security on AGOL the map would work internally... and all of our sensitive data would be free to the public... ugh. You would THINK that ESRI would have expected this or have a system in place to handle it.
