I'm lost on how we retrieve attachments from ArcGIS.com. We've got one or more photos with our Collector points and I can't see where we can download them. ArcMap allows you to export the feature class from our Hosted Services. No attachments come with it. Any ideas guys?

So I just created a mobile service on 10.1 Server and went to connect in 10.0.0.0 Mobile Project Center and while it initially says it connects it then has a red exclamation mark with the error message "Error: Unknown". I've now tried it with a number of map services with no luck. These map services all work with Mobile Project Center 10.1.1. Some of these map services have attachments but most don't. So can I say conclusively no you can't connect 10.0.0.0 Mobile to 10.1?

Thanks for that. I'm using the SDK here. While the project center is looking in the rest and finding the mobile service automatically I'm connecting to the service directly. http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgismobile/10.0/apis/arcgismobile/api/ESRI.ArcGIS.Mobile~ESRI.ArcGIS.Mobile.MobileServices.MobileServiceConnection~Url.html You're connecting to the SOAP interface with this url. http://<machine>/arcgis/services/<mapservice>/MapServer/MobileServer?wsdl gives me a valid response. The REST has changed from 10.0 to 10.1 - now you have two endpoints. MapServer and MobileServer For some reason it's not working in the 3.1 SDK and is working Mobile Project Center 10.1... the help for 3.1 SDK isn't extensive. All I really want to do is confirm that I'm still using the correct url for the MobileServiceConnection URL property. I've tried a few variations now.

<Edit: that should be ArcGIS Mobile 3.1 not 10.0 - but I reckon I can be forgiven for version confusion with ArcGIS Mobile...> I've got a ArcGIS Mobile 10.0 SDK Desktop app which we're trying to keep running for a bit longer. I can't seem to connect to a 10.1 Server. The mobile service address used to be something like http://<machine>/arcgis/services/<service>/MapServer/MobileServer This doesn't appear to be working. I know I can open this service in Mobile Project Center 10.1.1 and with Fiddler it's using the above address. I'm trying to check whether you can connect a 10.0 client to 10.1 server before I waste hours trying to work this out.

We're currently running with a 9.3 SDE behind our 10.1. Maybe that has something to do with it?? The maximum instances per machine would be different since our dev/test is a single 4 core while our production is 4 x 2 core machines.

Thanks for that. I seem to get no issues with this problem on our dev server where it's a single machine with 4 cores instead of our production machine which is four virtual boxes with 2 cores each. An associated problem is where I often get one or more of the 4 machines having trouble starting or stopping certain services - usually services that have a high usage. Sometimes the only answer is to go through and stop and restart machines. Anyway I'll try the various workarounds mentioned, like keeping an eye on the staging folder.

Has anyone else had this experience? I go to overwrite an existing map service with some small changes to the mxd (just the scale dependency changes) and ArcMap crashes. The only way to deal with it is usually to delete the service and republish. Happens every now and then and hard to pin down.

Yes. Are you 10.1 SP1? I've got various quality imagery for a whole state and I only want to cache to larger scale for polygons that cover the hires imagery. Now that used to work in 10.1 but SP1 is looking for an envelope instead of an irregularly shaped polygon. What might be worse, is that it may be doing what you're talking about. I've got more experimentation do to. If I was to cache the entire extent we're looking at 6+TB! Compared to 600GB. --- Oops - been a while since I've cache. I entered the polygon into the Area of interest (Envelope) instead of Polygon. That'll do it. Are you sure that's not what you're doing?

Let me get this straight you're want to extract a raster field to a file (jpg?? ) Because with help from the forums I wrote something in .net a few years ago.. still going strong. Mind you our Db is still SQL2008 and SDE 9.3. Will be upgrading to 10.1.1 soon and using attachments instead. http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/30272-Raster-Fields-to-Files-with-Arcpy?p=101505#post101505

I've got a bit of python that is publishing (or rather overwriting) data regularly to AGO and it works while ArcMap is open but doesn't while ArcMap isn't. I am signing in to the portal in the code. I get. ERROR 000732: Server: Dataset My Hosted Services does not exist or is not supported Here is a sample of my code - slightly censored. print "Signing in to Portal"

Thanks for that. It seems from the wording that if you shared the map with the organisation then it would be available to the organisation. But I'm still getting to understand the massive role Groups have. Thanks. Peter.

I've invited mobileios to the group. The second problem is not a bug, more being a bit of newb to arcgis. If one user has a working (in Collector) map in their collection how can they share it so every user in an organisation has it in their Collector list? I'm sharing the map with the Organisation.

We've got a hosted feature service on arcgis.com with attachments and people are collecting in Mobile and Collector and we're not seeing the attachments in 10.1.11. I can go to the web app on arcgis.com and see them. They are listed on Collector and you can "download" them but you can't view them. I can share the map and app if you want to see them. This is on both iOS (5.1) and Android HTC (4.0). Nice to be able to login to arcgis.com. But I must be doing something wrong with sharing with arcgis.com. We've got a web map created by one user that's shared to the entire organisation. How come I can't see that with another user in that organisation in Collector?

You've got to use the following hyperlink. Replace mapid. arcgis-collect://www.arcgis.com/sharing/rest/content/items/<mapid>/data AND on Android you have to choose your mail app. Some don't work. Gmail and HTC mail don't work my htc.

The rotated (or rather non-rotated) image was in Chrome. Compulsory fields will probably be necessary. The ease of deployment for both ArcGIS Mobile and Collector at the same time is making my life a bit easier. Gives us options.
