Aha. Yep that was it. This worked. { "mosaicMethod" : "esriMosaicCenter" } We're using image services in flexviewer 1.3 and before I go thinking about modifying code shouldn't ZOrder also fix this? I tried changing the ZOrder of the higher resolution imagery to -1 to try to get it to display but that made no difference. Also does anyone know whether flexviewer 2+ fixes this issue?

We've got a derived image service which has imagery at different scales that has been working successfully for a long time. We just added some high quality imagery and now while it works like it's supposed to in Arcmap in rest it's displaying a lower resolution image that exists for the same area. That seems strange. It can't be a permissions thing since it's displaying fine in soap... Any ideas? It's got us stumped. Before we spend time on the phone to the service centre...

Is that 1:100 as your lowest scale? If it is, I'd say it's probably overkill. 1:1000 is going far enough. How big an area? Even one city at 1:100 is going to take a very low time. Have you looked at the actual physical space your compact cache is taking up? That could be an issue. I've given up on imagery. I've got an area three times the size of texas to try to fit in a cache. I've not had too much success with compact cache compared to exploded. But there's no way I can move an exploded cache around. I tell my guys to cache the area they're interested in before they go out into the field.

Loading two different compact map caches (imagery and streets) from our server causes the project center to crash. I'm not getting any message, it just disappears. I can load "Mobile Caches" constructed in Arcmap but not Server Caches. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I push this one to support? The projection is Web Mercator Auxiliary Sphere. (Here's hoping 10.1 fixes some more problems)

OK I've got 7 tiled map services which I placed in a mxd. They're all turned off by default. When it appears in flexviewer they all appear even though they're unticked in flexviewer. Any ideas? It's strange that this is a dynamic map service passing tiled map services.... maybe that has something to do with it. I know esri are never recommending serving map services of map services. But the performance isn't that bad... besides the turning on and off problem.

Does anyone have an idea how I could group map services together in flexviewer? i.e. if I have multiple WMS services I want grouped.

Has anyone got tilecachemaplayers to work in 10? I've got the following code.
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
Dim tilecache As New DataProducts.RasterData.TileCacheMapLayer("d:\AirOps_AerialBaseLayer\Layers")
tilecache.Open()
Map1.MapLayers.Add(tilecache)
End Sub I'm getting past the code but then it's giving me "Parameter is not valid" when the form displays. There is nothing on this form besides a mobile map control. The cache is fully constructed... only down to ~1:288000. There is a conf.cdi and conf.xml file in that Layers directory. It's a compact cache. The stack trace is: at System.Drawing.Bitmap..ctor(Stream stream) at ESRI.ArcGIS.Mobile.DataProducts.RasterData.TileMapLayer.CreateImage(Display display) at ESRI.ArcGIS.Mobile.DataProducts.RasterData.TileMapLayer.Draw(Display display) at ESRI.ArcGIS.Mobile.MapLayer.OnDraw(IntPtr canvasHandle)

Can anyone see anything wrong with the following code? I'm not getting any intersections even though I know that point is definitely within myFeatureLayer. How does that deal with projection? pt = arcpy.Point(x,y)
ptGeometry = arcpy.PointGeometry(pt)
cur = arcpy.SearchCursor(myFeaturelayer)
for arow in cur:
geom = arow.shape
if ptGeometry .touches(geom):
arcpy.AddMessage("intersects")
break

We've got the possiblity of lots of people hitting our application so I need a scalable map service. We use some image services in our application for less important layers. I'm using the image service in an mxd.

We've got a couple of base layers we create using the Google Cache schema. One is a topo cache and the performance has been outstanding in 10. Compact cache, data all sitting in SDE and using a msd. The other is a aerial cache using a image service (derived referenced mosaic dataset with a little street labelling) from same machine and the performance has been comparitively bad. ie. Ran over weekend using 250K map sheets down to 1:1000 and was able to do 4 sheets in topo and 1% of one map sheet with aerial. I'm looking at doing 141 mapsheets (~1.737??10^6 km^2) so imagery is not going to cut it. I'm not going to do that whole area down to 1:1000 but probably at least 30 mapsheets all the way down. Has anyone noticed poor speed with image services in 10? Our overviews and source data are sitting on another machine but the two machines are on 3Gb connection right next to each other. I have notice some slow speeds with uri addresses in 10 compared to 9.3.1 in catalog. Is it correct the image services aren't allowed in msds... I thought they were going to be allowed in 10?

I got a mosaic dataset consisting of multiple mosaic datasets which is all working OK BUT.... To get a higher resolution imagery say (15cm imagery) to display at a lower scale than calculated by Arc you increase the MaxPS right? Currently not appearing till 1:995 (it's underneath some 2.5m imagery). I want to appear around 1:5000. It appears to be different than 9.3. ie. I note cells sizes units are dependent on projection now. Used to be all in meters. Or is there a problem/trick with the redrawing? ie. when editing the footprint attribute table are changes displayed immediately (like they were in 9.3) or is there something I need to do?

I've got a published mosaic dataset (image service) in 10 that I want to add some street labelling to and make a cached map service from. In 9.3.1 it was possible but now I'm getting an error message when I go to publish the mxd. The error simply states that the layer is invalid. Any ideas?
