As can be seen at http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/236262/renaming-arcgis-pro-project-aprx-file-geodatabase-and-toolbox I created an ArcGIS Pro project named TestProject in a new folder and after doing considerable work on it I decided that it warranted a better name like ProperProject. In the TestProject folder by default there is TestProject.aprx, TestProject.gdb and TestProject.tbx. Renaming the TestProject folder to ProperProject leaves the TestProject.* files and file geodatabase with their original name, and there seems to be no easy way to rename TestProject.aprx to ProperProject.aprx that automatically renames its default file geodatabase and toolbox to ProperProject.gdb and ProperProject.tbx. I'm happy to leave the project folder rename to Windows, but I think ArcGIS Pro should make renaming a *.aprx also rename its default file geodatabase and toolbox.

There are some workarounds documented at the GIS Stack Exchange in the Q&A entitled Reordering fields (permanently) in file geodatabase using ArcGIS Desktop? but implementing an equivalent to ArcInfo Workstation's PULLITEMS would be far preferred.

Depending on your requirements a workaround could be to use the Python library named ReportLab. You should find help about it here and at focussed Q&A sites: Newest 'reportlab' Questions - Geographic Information Systems Stack Exchange; Newest 'reportlab' Questions - Stack Overflow Its syntax and coding patterns take some getting used to but it has lots of functionality.

The need for this arises from an issue that I have encountered at http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/214719/using-arcpy-to-populate-turn-feature-class-for-network-analyst-by-reading-edge-I I have successfully built a network dataset with a unique ID for every street polyline in it. I also have a table with rows for each pair of street polyline IDs for which a turn from and onto are not permitted. I expected it to be easy to create network dataset turn features from this table but it seems not to be possible.

It's not ArcScripts, but I came looking for http://forums.esri.com/Thread.asp?c=93&f=982&t=55146 today when I was trying to help someone on an R6025 error, and it just led me to a front page. I don't look for ArcScripts very often but it does worry me when any technical content posted to a community is lost to that community through broken links.

I made the decision to use ModelBuilder for a large project for precisely the same reason i.e. to graphically document the process. That application now uses a mixture of ModelBuilder and ArcPy/Python and my intention is to retain the overall workflow as an over-arching model (to keep the process visual and easy to explain) and to have everything under each "building block" be ArcPy/Python code. If you are planning to export a large model to Python script you may find that it results in difficult to read code (that is difficult to debug) due to the way it names its variables, and if there is iteration then code that won't work. My approach is to use Copy As Python Snippet to re-build models as ArcPy/Python script tools instead.

It may be little comfort, but my recommendation, so as not to find yourself at the mercy of ModelBuilder, is to minimize the role of ModelBuilder and progressively replace your models with Python script tools written using ArcPy.

I asked the same question, but for ArcGIS Pro 1.2, at the GIS Stack Exchange. The answer there was: This functionality is not in ArcGIS Pro at the 1.2 release. We hope to add it at a future release.

Hi Mark One thing that video does not mention is Single Use licenses. It clarifies Named Users and Concurrent Licenses but does not describe how someone with a Single Use license (like me) continues to access ArcGIS Pro if/when their Maintenance lapses. I hope it is not suggesting that the simplified licensing that Single Use provided will be converted into Concurrent Licensing for one, and require the running of a license manager. I hope someone from Esri can clear that up because I suspect that your concerns were around Concurrent whereas mine were around Single Use. - Graeme

I've been noticing some quirky behaviour from the Element pane of ArcGIS Pro 1.2 Beta. As an example try the following: Open ArcGIS Pro 1.2 Beta Create a New Project using the Map.aptx template. I called mine "test" and placed it in "C:\Temp" INSERT a New Layout. I chose A3 from the ISO - Portrait category. INSERT a Rectangle Text element In the Element pane under Properties and General, highlight and overwrite the Name from "Text" to "NewText" The text in the Rectangle Text element on the Layout changes to "NewTextText" - I don't think it should change at all because all I am trying to change is the Name property of the element and not its Text property Can anyone else reproduce this?

To identify a feature just use the MAP | Explore button to click on it. You may see it tell you that it is Identifying the first time, but on subsequent clicks it works too fast for that.

The recent/current ArcGIS Earth Beta had a user forum accessible from the Beta pages. However, even though the welcome to ArcGIS Pro 1.2 Beta said "bookmark the ArcGIS Pro 1.2 beta site (link below). This will be your main portal for submitting feedback", when I go to that page it says "Please submit your feedback through Esri Technical Support (support.esri.com/en)". When I go to support.esri.com/en it says "My Support is moving to My Esri We are moving Support information to My Esri. Everything currently available on My Support will soon move to the Support tab within My Esri." I've noticed at least one ArcGIS Pro 1.2 Beta question on GeoNet, so while we are waiting for the Support tab within My Esri to be ready, is there any advice on whether posting ArcGIS Pro 1.2 Beta questions to GeoNet is permitted?
