Agreed! It would be great if the query tool used the same pop-up as the web map/layer has configured. We have found they are different and do not appear to support arcade expressions... boo!

We are having very similar problems with 10.5.1 + and what appears to be inconsistency and instability with the pyramids tool. Sometimes they are successful and other times not. Successful meaning the tool reports they are built only to get prompted the pyramids do not exist or simply not seeing anything at smaller scales. Other times we are presented with this warning and have never run into this before? "C2018_MOSAIC_BLOCK1: The display area covers too many pixels at the current display resolution. Please zoom in or build pyramids." This is coming up with clicking on the raster layer and clicking "zoom to layer". Older software releases prior to 10.3 did not appear to have this problem with our past collections in File or SDE GDB. I am curious what settings are you using for pyramids? Applying any compression on them?

Remember just changing the data store is not enough because each MXD/MSD is hosted in the ArcGIS Server publishing folders with the original workspaces. The registered data stores are just a check mark for the analysis of a service about to be published. There should be a database connection manager tool similar to other mapping applications so connections can be managed holistically at the map or project level and not the layer / table level which is where all wqorkspace information is stored. Regardless we gave up and I might suggest incorporating a DNS alias for your database server as long as the database names are the same. This way all connections point to the alias and when you are ready to change database servers just have DNS updated. This saved us for several SDE SQL Server upgrades from 2008, 2012, 2014 & 2016.

Why is file geodatabase not ALWAYS available as an option? We are losing this setting when overwriting existing feature services so we have to go back in , turn it on and then reindex. Additionally it looks really strange under "Additional Resources" , why not just always have this format available in the standard list?

I have had this complaint for a while only to be told by ESRI Support this is the way the geodatabase works and based on my research is related to shapefile exports. Only some of the ArcGIS applications (Ie: Collector) will support the NON NULLABLE field property, while their flagship products (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, Web Maps) ignore it and post space values (in the case of string fields). Even the latest version of ArcGIS Pro when editing a local file geodatabase will "work around" the data model and not respect the NON NULL or REQUIRED FIELD settings. It seems rather pointless to have these tools around for fields if the platform is inconsistent with the way the are validated (or not). I submitted this idea several months ago but it probably needs a better description after reading it again. Fix Feature Services so they do not bypass the data model Also here is a section from ArcGIS Help which states how these field properties will be dealt with when exporting to shapefiles but this seems to be the default behavior of most of the applications when editing a file, sde gdb or feature service with field properties set for NON NULLABLE or REQUIRED. Defining feature class properties—ArcGIS Help | ArcGIS Desktop Geoprocessing considerations for shapefile output—Help | ArcGIS Desktop I really wish the tools (especially web maps) would not create a record if the user does not interact, complete the required or non-null fields or hit "x" on the form it just ends up creating a lot of garbage data. The web map actually creates the record before the popup comes up kinda of a bad design and does not have to be this way. Geometry can be stored in a memory along with the form attributes. Can you imagine if our bank transfers still went thru if we hit the "X" to close the window? Results in a confusing user experience and bad data the administrator has to clean up later.

Understand the functionality around CAD mapping standards to feature layers but we receive CAD files from many different jurisdictions, entities and firms which may not adhere to any standards of their own. Additionally we have historical engineering studies from the 1980's and 90's which are non-standard and it seems like the time it would take to standardize them would be just lost efforts. I was hoping for a classification or identification tool where a user could click on "manhole" from the feature service and then click, click, click on manholes to classify them and post them to the feature service. Click on "mainline" feature service destination and click, click, lasso mainlines or use a CAD selection set. The tool would validate geomtry and then proceed. The time spent in the CAD sessions would be much more productive than assuming or creating any sort of layering standard.

From our limited use ArcGIS for AutoCAD seems to shine creating new features or editing existing GIS features from an ArcGIS Feature Service. However we have a lot of data in native CAD format and this tool does not appear to allow classifying or promoting existing CAD features to GIS features. This is unfortunate because we really do not want to redraft things which already exist in CAD. Maybe this enhancement will be considered in the future. This means we continue to use shapefile exports from AutoCAD map as well as FME when the drawings are more complex or contain related data.

Some workflows require obtaining multiple datasets from an open data provider and downloading them one at a time is a pain, especially when consuming the File geodatabase format. The result is the end-user obtains a number of zipped file geodatabases for each dataset, requiring unzipping and then they contain a single feature class so merging them into a single datastore is also required. Consider adding a cart option so all datasets could be added to a cart. Once the user is ready they execute the cart and a single download is generated for them in the format specified. A zipped file of all spreadsheets, KML's, shapefile A zipped geodatabase of all datasets

This is from version 10.1 and 5 years later would still be nice to have automatic agents for most of the geodatabase functionality including rebuilding locators. We have automated this with python but what a pain ! Addresses and other landmarks get added, updated all day long. A replication, failed locator rebuild or failed to publish to server is just another hassle in this workflow and seems to me if it is in the database (enterprise, file, geopackage) index it and send it out. Other database and search platforms with indexes have process/workers that auto-update indexes, why not the GDB?
