Hi, I have configured the workflow manager with ArcGIS Pro. The administrators and users are set through the Workflow Manager (Classic) Administrator, having configured with the user groups and privileges. Most users could connect to the workflow manager database and open the workflow manager view in ArcGIS Pro. Still, some users keep having the error "The current user is not registered with Workflow Manager." The workflow manager database was configured with PostgreSQL 13.3 in Windows Server 2019, and its user store is Traditional. So far, I tried - checking the JTX_Users table where all users' information is written ---> Yes, there are usernames of those who've got the errors - changing windows login user name by adding ~1 (for example, user --> user1) ---> still cannot access - rebooting the workstation and database server ---> just some significant users can't access while most others can It is quite weird that just two users cannot access the workflow manager while most other were able to access , connect, and open workflow manager in ArcGIS Pro. Has anyone seen this error and fixed it? Thank you!

Hi @DanHopkins ! Thanks for your reply. I am wondering if I have made a product (layout & maps) in ArcGIS Pro, should I turn it over to ArcMap and rework with the grid designer since ArcGIS Pro does not support that function? Thanks!

Hi there, Does anyone know which ArcGIS Pro's geoprocessing tools or functionality work as the Grid Designer of ArcMap? I'd like to move graticule labels into where I want, not the automatic arrangement. Thanks!

Hi, I have been working on making TM maps using TDS data in ArcGIS Pro and got some problems with displaying coast features in Adjoining Sheets Guide, Boundaries, and Elevation Guide maps. Here's how I went through the steps to make a TM map. First, I selected an index of the coastal area through the Production Manager application. The area contains tidal water features (F_Code BA040 of Hydrography Surface feature class). Then, I ran a "Cartography-Automated" job to create a TM map in ArcGIS Pro. The expected output should display blue-colored tidal water features in Boundaries, Adjoining Sheets, and Elevation Guide maps. For example, one like this: However, the output was totally different from what I expected. It did NOT have those features on the map, also the BaseMap. It is weird that TDS data does have the features, but the output does not. Does anyone have this kind of issue when generating a map or know how to fix this? Thanks 🙂

Hi @JohnGrammer1425 , I wanted to maintain the DepthCurveCrv feature class and some feature subtypes of MilitarySurfaces feature class in TM geodatabase, as they used to be in TDS, even after running the GP tool. So, like you said, I copied the DepthCurveCrv feature class from TDS_CARTO feature dataset to BM feature dataset of TM geodatabase, and created a feature subtype with the same defaults values of TDS into the MilitarySurface feature class. The results, however, were not what I have expected. I ran the GP tool itself ouside of the workflow manager: all TDS&TDS_CARTO feature classes were extracted but not placed under BM feature dataset, and there were no DepthCurveCrv feature class at all. When I ran the workflow (Cartogrpahy-Automated), I expected to have the DepthCurveCrv feature class and a new feature subtype of MilitarySurfce in the [JobName].gdb but no changes were made. Is this right way to do what you mean? Can you confirm it? Thanks 🙂

Hi all, I am currently working on to see what changes are made when TDS data are converted to TM after the extracting data step of Cartography- Automated workflow in workflow manager. It seems like when the extract data step is done, the TDS data are converted to TM fitting in TM's schema. For example, AgriculturePoints feature class no longer owns Industrial Farm subtype and fields like DMT and TRE after being moved to TM geodatabase. I have already posted a question of the difference between TDS and TM schemas, and understood why these changes were made. However, I wonder what if the missing subtype should be displayed on the map regardless of it is included in TM schema or not. For example, TDS geodatabase has DepthCurveCrv feature class which tells how deep the area is, something like HypsographyCurves. This specific feature class is gone after TDS data are converted to TM, and this depth information couldn't be expressed on the map. This may cause some misunderstandings and confusions depending on who and which organization use the map. Therefore, I would like to ask questions like 1. How is the conversion from TDS to TM geodatabase happened? Does it use a geoprocessing tool like Load Data? If so, is there any mapping table specifying which subtypes of feature classess will be stayed and missed in TM? 2. If there's a unique way to convert the data, can a user modify this? For example, could the user make the DepthCurveCrv features be copied under HypsographyCuves? I will be so much appreciated if anyone could make answer 🙂

Hi, I found that the symbology enables the features with Arcade expression ZI006_MEM == "multiple" to have Vertical Obstruction / multiple marker. I know that features with height over 46 are mostly set as vertical obstructions, and I got some questions about the usage of that specific symbol. First, is the value "multiple" set manually (like typing in the attribute one by one) or by some rules (like running the calculate field to fill the attribute with "multiple")? For example, if there are 100 point features that are all over 46 for their heights, could I just pick whatever the features are and set ZI006_MEM field with "multiple" value? Second, there will be scenarios of choosing when the feature needs to be multiple vertical obstructions, single obstructions, and neither of them. Does ZI006_MEM field has appropriate values to support those scenarios? If not, can I use the other field? Let's say there are 10 point features located in a dense area (125 square meters) and other 10 point features scattered outside of the dense area. I'd like to just mark one feature as a Vertical Obstruction / multiple and the rest 9 point features in the same dense area to be hidden. The other 10 points that are staying outside of the dense area can be displayed as a Vertical Obstruction / single. In this scenario, how can I handle with the ZI006_MEM value? Third, if I made my own field values to differentiate the vertical obstructions whether one is multiple, the another one is single, and the other is hidden, can I use that field instead of ZI006_MEM field? Could anyone make some clear answers to the questions? Thanks!

Hi @DanHopkins Yes Sure! I actually used the tool for twice, each for building and bridge. I'll just attach both cases. 1) TM50_BridgeOffsets.xml - TransportationGroundCurves - TransportationGroundPoints 2) TM50_BuildingOffsets.xml - StructurePoints Based on your reply, TM50_BrdigeOffsets.xml rule file is for the Calculate Bridge Offsets tool isn't it? But, I am kind of confused because the help document tells that I can use both bridge and building xml files for the Apply Building Offsets tool and I saw that all the parameters used for the Calculate Bridge Offsets like Input Bridge Features, Overpassing Features, Search Distance, and others were already specified in the xml file. If I should have used the TM50_BridgeOffsets.xml file for the Calculate Bridge Offsets tool, does it mean that I have to re-clarify which parameters I use even though they are already in the file? IF so, should I put all the feature layers containing Bridge symbols as the Input Bridge Features in the tool? Please let me know if the screenshots are not clear. Thanks!

Hi @DanHopkins Thanks for your reply! I have tested a couple of cartographic refinement tools and now understood how the tools make the values 🙂 I used both TM50_BuildingOffsets.xml and TM50_BridgeOffsets.xml for the tool "Apply Building Offsets". It seems to run Calculate Bridge Offsets as well if I set TM50_BridgeOffsets.xml as a parameter, doesn't it? However, even though I run Apply Building Offsets tool and earned the values for the fields, the features don't really look to be rotated or make even a small movement at all. By the way, I am using ArcGIS Pro 3.0.3 and Defense/Production Mapping product files 3.0.0.1 Thanks!

Thanks @JohnGrammer1425 🙂 I have a follow-up question to the second answer you'd made. You said that the added fields in TM geodatabase will be filled by the cartographic refinement tools like apply building offsets, calculate bridge offsets, and thin spot heights. I have run the thin spot heights tool as a test, and could find that the tool filled INVISIBLE field as a way to hide or show the spot heights. For the INVISIBLE field, I now understand how it works. However, the other fields like ABO_ROTATION or CBO_OFFSET did not contain any values even after running apply building offset tool. Is there a specific sequence of running the tools? For example, should I have run calculate bridge offsets first and then apply building offsets? Highly appreciated with your help! Thanks

Hello all, While I have been testing how cartography works in defense mapping, I found the difference in TM.gdb and TDS.gdb schemas. When I ran the "extract data" step in the workflow manager, all TDS data seemed to be converted and copied into TM.gdb's BM (BaseMap) feature dataset. However, the TDS data were not copied and converted when I ran the Extract Data by JobAOI geoprocessing tool outside of the workflow manager by myself, saying that the TDS feature classes were copied in TM.gdb but not in BM feature dataset as it had to be in the workflow manager. This was the first time I got curious of why. So, I opened up feature classes in TM and TDS geodatabases respectively. For example, AgriculturePoints feature class in TDS.gdb and in TM.gdb. As expected, some fields that were used to be in TDS schema were no longer shown in TM schema and were newly made in TM schema. As an example, AgriculturePoints had DMT, TRE, VSP, VSP2, VSP3, ZI013_CSP, ZI013_CSP2, ZI013_CSP3, ZI013_FFP, ZI013_FFP2, and ZI013_FFP3 fields in TDS but not in TM. Also, this feature class got new fields in TM such as ABO_Rotation, CBO_Offset, CBO_OffsetX, CBO_OffsetY, CBO_Rotation, HIERARCHY, and ISVISIBLE. Here are the questions then. 1. What happens to the fields that are used to be in TDS schema but no longer existing in TM schema? If the fields are missed after converted from TDS to TM, would those fields values be gone and not be used in symbology Arcade queries and definition queries in TM layout? 2. How would the newly added fields like ABO_Rotation and CBO_Offset in TM schema be used? Should the field values be modified by manually or by geoprocessing tools? If anyone knows some exact answers for the questions, please feel free to make responses 🙂 Thank you!

Hi @GCRice_EsriPS ! Thanks for your advice 🙂 I was able to see where the tool stops working - making annotations. I did not turn on any of layers' labels. After turning on some layers' labels, the tool works fine. Now, I know how to manage which tools to run in the process of GPL tool. Your reply was a big help! By the way, I'd like to know if making annotations is the essential and must-have-to-do process for making the maps. Could you make an answer for this small curiosity? Thanks!

Hi @Bo_King , I double-checked if the PAGX has saved without any broken layers, and for sure it doesn't have any of those layers. All layers are connected with the data source very well. I ran the Cartography - Automated workflow again in the workflow manager (classic) in ArcGIS Pro, and it still had the same issue - just stop at the step of Generate Product. Since the workflow manager does not give specific messages why it stopped, I traced back to the workflowstep toolbox and ran GenerateProductLayoutforJob tool. The failed messages were like this, Product Type is TM50 sheet = '16572' D:\LocalProcessing\CARTO_AUTO_JOB_820_(819)\Geodatabases\TM50_CARTO_TEST_16572_JOB_819.gdb\Job_TM50_Index ERROR 999999: Something unexpected caused the tool to fail. Contact Esri Technical Support (http://esriurl.com/support) to Report a Bug, and refer to the error help for potential solutions or workarounds. Failed to execute (GenerateProductLayout). Failed script Generate Product Layout for Job... Failed to execute (GenerateProductLayoutforJob). Is there anything I can do to run the generate product layout tool without this error? Thank you!

Hi folks, I am currently working on automated cartography using defense & production mapping. I could successfully generate a pdf file using the default pagx file (TM50_Layout.pagx) found in Product Files. However, I'd like to make some modifications on that pagx file and make my own pdf which fits to specific qualifications. They'll be some changes in layers name and symbols. I have already added some new symbols in TM.stylx and checked that the modified pagx loads those symbols very well. The only thing left is to implement that modified pagx file into the EPM using workflow manager. I set the file name as TM50_Layout.pagx as it has to be and run the SAMPLE CARTOGRAPHY AUTOMATED task group. When it reached the generate product layout step, it stopped. I was trying to run both the Generate Product Layout for Job tool and Generate Product Layout tool, and got the same Error 999999 messages. I am wondering that the defense mapping does not allow users to use their own pagx files or it is just the error. If anyone knows the answer, please let me know. Thank you!
