This has to be a dumb question but I can't figure it out. I have lines on a map at 1 point thick (ArcGIS Pro 2.4.1). Pic: (you can see the scale at roughly 1:9,000) But when I zoom in, they don't change based on scale anymore. It kind of acts like layout view versus data view: (scale is 1:3,700) And zoomed again: (scale 1:1,500) I know it has to be a setting in Pro to make my lines scalabe but I can't find it. I feel like this is a new "enhancement" since I don't recall old maps having this behavior. Please help, haha!

Hi, I am trying to smooth out some contours using the Smooth Line tool in ArcGIS Pro 2.4.1. Each time I run the tool with the PAEK algorithm, an attribute table is produced with with my contour data but the geometry is all <null>. It's weird because it takes awhile to perform the process but it still produces no geometry. I decided to try the Bezier algorithm and still got the same result - a bunch of nothing. I saw this thread from a long time, it sounds like people have had the same issue without any resolve: https://community.esri.com/message/32406 Background: I have a large plot of land (>400 acres) with LiDAR data that is high resolution. I made contour lines out of this and I get a ton of jagged edges and lots of sorta irrelevant points (it's thick and dense - like 35,000 lines). I just want to smooth it down and make it look nice! Any ideas? Oh, and why is it when I zoom in that my lines get chunky and don't change based on scale? Is that a new feature? tagging: 3D, LIDAR Resources, Lidar and other point clouds, Elevation Data, 3D Mapping

Megan, Could there possibly be a tolerance issue, or some sort of closure parameter? The best way I get around exporting to CAD is to just give my CAD people a shapefile. That way I know it's "right" when it leaves my GIS.

Paul, Maybe we should submit an Idea for Esri to have stock photography... Thanks for the ideas. I like the before and after approach. I agree that this can help people to understand GIS a little better, especially mentioning that they use it daily with other applications. I too would want to be part of an advertising or marketing group! I suppose we could start one but I kind of doubt it would get good traffic on GeoNet. There aren't too many questions related to this field that could be directed to a group like that.

Geoguesser is hard! And you can only get one aspect of it for free. The rest costs $$. Which is ok, but I wonder how to incorporate that kind of technology in ArcGIS Online web maps? I suppose using the analyst tool of Find Nearest would do that while consuming a small amount of credits. Though I am not sure on how to make this automatically happen... Maybe it's something to look into. Thanks for the idea!

Hi Giorgia, I am not sure there is a way to natively view the 360 degree photos in a Story Map. Take a look at this basic web map: https://arcg.is/1Sm4fb This is how I do my 360 degree photos. Larry, This is a wonderful idea. I agree that moving things captures people's attention quite well. I understand what you're saying about a slideshow versus a video, but what about an animated video created from ArcGIS that shows progression over time, than can be somewhat slideshow related? I came across this video yesterday: The Biggest Cities In The United States From 1790 To 2018, Visualized - Digg But it's not a 'video' to where I can pause and play it. But I love it. The data is fun and the graphical idea of it is intriguing (but it's information that I enjoy so maybe that makes a difference). So, this makes me think maybe something like a GIF would work just as well... Thanks for the ideas and I'll be sure to report back with what we come up with (a few months away).

I see. Is your picture a true 360 degree picture? What kind of camera took this picture? Have you tried adding the metadata to match what that link says? To do this, you can likely go into the camera properties and edit the Details tab: If those details are not robust enough, then you will have to use a software that digs deeper into the metadata, like ExifTool mentioned earlier. The camera I use puts these properties in natively so I don't have to go into that particular metadata and edit that.
