This will be a little bit of a different "question" from the normal GeoNet questions, but I am hoping to gather some ideas. I work for a small engineering firm that does Civil Engineering and Land Survey kind of work. We sometimes go to a conference and exhibit what we do. For awhile I have had the idea of trying to promote my GIS department (which is a department of one) by showing off the use of different apps and maps in the world of engineers and surveyors. I wanted to ask you, the great people of GeoNet, what sort of things have you seen, or done, at a conference/trade show (not necessarily GIS related) that caught your attention? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I had ideas of having some kind of interactive "game" where people could find, or guess, a specific location based on an arbitrary photo and maybe they get "points" based on how close they were to the actual location. This could be fun but it may not fully demonstrate that much GIS "power" (plus I don't have the best idea on how to calculate the points and tally it up later - need to put more thought into it). I think it would be great to use interactive apps and maps (like Survey123 for ArcGIS, Collector for ArcGIS, Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS, ArcGIS StoryMaps, Crowdsourcing, and newer things that I haven't touched yet like ArcGIS QuickCapture and Tracker for ArcGIS).

Charlotte, Are you referring to this: 4. I modify the spreadsheet to add some project data and the linking variable for the Pannellum viewer (it's super quick with just an easy formula from Excel). That's a rather simple step. I just a few blank fields that will be used in my AGOL popup. For me these fields are: Photo name Project number Date Description User Discipline Visit Type Street route but most importantly, I have a field that has my photo hyperlink. Melita, That was what I was thinking too, regarding comic con. Yeah they're different purposes and I would guess that the distribution and setup are way different. I also would think that not all 100k people are in the building at one time whereas the plenary session had to have at least 15k people in it (maybe?) and that was just in the big ballroom. Having to run over to the Hilton Hotel for a presentation is kind of annoying since it's not exactly a 10 minute walk and my next session would likely not be in the Hilton either.

Thanks Dawn! I got to visit with a few Aggies while at the conference. It was good to see that A&M had a booth (I may have gotten some special swag as well, haha). I will definitely have to check out the Science Symposium next time I go.

Whoa whoops! I totally meant dataset and NOT field name, haha. I changed my post to say Layer Name (since that is what my little python script was looking for). Thanks for pointing that out! And good point on how that will return all fields instead of just user-defined ones.

Arthur, In ArcGIS Pro, if your data frame of your map is in NAD83 UTM, then the Esri basemap will be reprojected on-the-fly to that projection. This has little to do with resolution. Can you describe better what you're seeing or not seeing? Maybe a screenshot? You could also reach out to the surrounding agencies if they have local aerial data (cities, counties, states, and fed agencies). Tagging Coordinate Reference Systems and Imagery and Remote Sensing

I know you mentioned not using scripting or coding but this quick Python bit worked well for me In Pro in the Python module: import arcpy

Aaron, This may be still manual but a little less manual. You could go to the Fields view in Pro and look at all the fields there without it jumping around too much (I mean, I hope it doesn't jump in this view): https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/data/geodatabases/overview/create-modify-and-delete-fields.htm

Curtis, Thanks for sharing this. It's too bad what has happened with federal employees over the last few years. It's too bad that one big, out of hand party in Vegas seemed to have ruined it for all fed employees too. I'm glad you're able to go and the very very few other fed employees, but how can that change? Do you think it will change in the future where more federal employees will be allowed travel and training?
