I would like to see a group definition query available. Meaning:  If you have 2 or more features in a group, you can create a definition query that will effect all the features in that group. Provided they all have the same Attribute from which to define. Example.  I work in Electric GIS for Distribution and Transmission.  Every feature attached to a given substation if populated with Substation and Feeder.   Some times it would be very handy to write a defintion query in a group  [SubstationName} = 'Sub1' and [FeederNum] = 4 Write the Defintion Query 1 time.  In that groupl are Primary OH, UG, Secondary OH, UG, servcie points, transfomers, sectionalizing devices etc...Some 10 to 15 total features. I don't even use the new snapping anymore. I keep it on classic all the time unless I am doing some basic editing.  But what you are describing is classic snapping.  To that end I would like to see a button you can add to the snapping toobar to quick turn classic on and off. I would probably be happier with it if we could disable certain layers from being snapped to, epecially base layers etc... ... View more

I think this would be a bad idea.  A better idea is to practice saving edits your self. The Big issue with Automaticaly saving edits is if you make a number of mistakes and want to revert.  Well if the system just made a back up you are left with a bunch of errors. I think we would have a lot of issues with things being saved automaticaly that you don't want. I see this causing a lot more problems than it saves.   I would suggest putting a timer next to you that beeps every 15 minutes to remind you to save. Not trying to be insulting but losing hours of complex edits/analysis becuase ArcMap crashes is a rookie mistake.  Not the crashing, but the not saving. If your having issues with ArcMap crashing you should look into solving that issue instead.  Often is is a lack of hardware resources and/or corrupt mxd's and databases.  Often when people upgrade to a new version the mxd they were using with the old version becomes unstable. ... Not 100% sure what your asking but I think it exists.  Here is what I do.  I create 2 new fields called LabelRotation and LableAngle.  Both are short integer. I create 3 lable rules for the point.  Label By Rotation, Label By Angle and Undefined.  SQL query for Lable Rotation looks like this [LabelRotation] is not null and [LabelAngle] is null  AND [SeparateLabel] = 'N' LabelAngle  [LabelAngle] is not null Undefined  [LabelRotation] is null and [LabelAngle] is null  With these three rules Undefined shows up if rotation and angle are null Rotation overides undefined and shows up if rotation is not null and ange is null Angle overides rotation is Angle is not null. Then in Placement properties for Rotation select Rotate by Attribute  This will place a label at the specified Angle all the time.  Then change the settings to Straight  and the rotation field to LabelAngle  This does seem labor intensive but for stubborn areas such as you have here it will allow you to specify for each point exactly where you want it to go. ... I don't see myself using strikethrough but I can see the utility of it if you want to show somethign hta thas changed.  It should be more than simple to add it as a button next to Bold, Itallic and Underline. I don't like this idea.  I really like the connect to folder option because it keeps the ArcCatalog dialog clean and easier to navigate quickly to what you want to connect to.  Especially when you have multiple drives on a system network and hundreds of possible folders. And it is easer for my new clients who I set up to not have to try and remember where their data is. And besides that you can do a one time  Connect to Folder to the root of your C: drive and it will then look just like windows explorer. ... View more

This would be handy. I sometimes do create domains based on existing data attributes. First step is to standardize all the entries so there are situaitons where the same attribute is defined 2 more ways.   Example:  Wire types are written at T2 #2 or T2-#2 or T2#2 etc.  They are all the same Second Step:  make a copy of the feature table and bring it into Access.  Now copy and paste everything back into the table to make sure there is at least 2 of each uniquie attribute.  Get rid of all <null> or empty values. Third Step:  In Access do a find duplicates query on the Attribute you wish to domain. Fourth Step: Create a new table with 2 attributes for your domain.  Code & Description for the attribute names. Fifth Step.  From your Find Duplicates Query copy and paste the results into the Code Field. IF you would rather your domain be an Integer then paste it into the Description Field and add numberical values for the Code. Sixth Step:  Use the Table to Domain tool to add your new domain to the Geodatabase of your choice. It actually takes longer for me to type this out then it does to actually do it. ... View more
