It is probably different for us. We are Enterprise GIS and hosting our own Portals. We only have 3 user types and 6 roles. One of which we created to single out non employees who we have given access to our GIS. But for those of you with only 2 administrators you would only need one extra account. I am not disagreeing with the idea, just the excuses people have. I always test out the applications as the user role and type that it is intended for. However, I mis-wrote how we do it. We have one Administrator for each Portal and I have my own log in. We only have 850 employees and only 493 of them are registered with the GIS. We only have one customized role. Is it a dummy account if it is smart to have one.?

Who are you agreeing with? Well then have another administrator change your user level when you need to review work. I think that would be more of a hassle. Each of the 5 GIS people at my company have Administrative roles and access to a non administrative role that we can adjust to the desired level at will to do exactly what you are looking for. I do this quite often. I will have the non administrator open in one browser and the administrator open in another so I can make adjustments quickly and refresh the other browser.

It is a frustrating tool. I see you already accepted a solution. You can also do it in ArcMap and the calculate geometry tool and it works without the hoops

Check how many cores you have on your portal box. When we moved to portal a couple of years ago we requested an 8 core server from out IT department and it ended up being a single core. They changed it to 16 cores and we are very quick now. 16 may be overkill but it is slick.

Our company GIS is served up via Portal. We have a number of Groups for the various applications. Everyone in our Portal is logged in via their company log in, which includes their email addresses. Is there any way to send out message updates to people in various groups? Example, in one of the groups I manage I have 89 Field Workers. But they work in 8 different departments in our company. I need to send out a process change method and would like to send it to ONLY people in that group. The benefit would be when people leave the company they are automatically removed. When new people come to the company and needed to be added to the group it would update the mailing list. Any suggestions.

It would be better to use the Education extension and tell people it is called Map Series Hundreds of thousands of current users calling them Map Series. Zero reason to change it because of a small handful of people that cannot figure it out.

We are in Enterprise with Portal. I have a dashboard associated with an application that collects site photos at our various sites. In the Dashboard I have a details panel and a list panel. When I select a location in the list it shows the attachments in the details. Go to another and it shows those attachments. However, if I select a location that has a large number of attachments and then select another location from the list the details will now display Unsupported media Even though the media in there is good. i.e. normal .jpgs and the do show up if the one with large number of images has not been used.
